We dont have gamestop here in Britain, but we do have Gamestation and Game, which im fairly sure are good equivalents.

I prefer Computer Exchange, or CeX. It's basically a shop that only does second hand games, but they give better value on trade ins and cheaper games. The also sell second hand phones and ipods and stuff, so its pretty good. Although i only use it for games.

Mine is pretty good just because I like the people who work there, but they don't carry any games before PS2, they have bullshit prices on games and they don't give you shit for trading in games.

I just traded in a brand new Darksiders and got 26 dollars for it.

And about tips, I don't know. Its pretty self explanitory. Prepare for a great fucking game.
What is wrong with anything you said here?

They have limited shelf space. You cant make money if you have to give 5 dollars to every mom who brings in 200 of her sons old Nintendo and PS1 games. The games sit on a shelf for years.

I doubt your copy was brand new. Did you play it? If so, it's not brand new, it is USED. they are a business, no one is FORCING you to sell your games to them.
No it [i/]was[/i] brand new.

My grandmother got me a copy the day I bought one and when I tried to take it back to Walmart where she bought it, they said they can't take it because its already opened at which point I told them its a bullshit policy then went to gamestop and sold a brand new unplayed copy to Gamestop.
If the plastic is gone, it's considered open. It's hardly a bullshit policy.
It [i/]is[/i] a bullshit policy. At least if I don't like the game, I can take it back for a full refund at Gamestop.
No you can't. Once you open the game, you can only trade it in for another copy of the game.
I don't understand how you dont get that?

Bring game home, burn game onto blank disc, bring game back to wal-mart for full refund? No. It makes complete sense and EVERY store is this way.
First off, yes you can get a full refund (or at least I can). I've done it with 3 games so far; Valkyria Chronicles, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Prototype.

And how the hell do you burn a PS3 game onto a disk? Is that even possible. I know it is with PS2, but PS3? Really?
I've worked at gamestop, and I'm telling you, you cant unless the game you bought was USED and didn't work 100%.

You expect stores to allow you to go in, open the games, and try every single game possible until you find one you like? No! that would be stupid.

And yes of course you can illegally burn and transfer next gen games.
Okay, well every Gamestop I've been in have let me do that and without question as long as its within the 7 days of purchase.

No, I don't expect stores to do that. I expect them to let me return it if I have 2 goddamn copies of the game and I have 2 people to vouch for me that I'm not some kid looking for cash.

And I didn't know you could do that with current gen games. You must have one beast of a computer to do that though.
If you have two copies of a game, don't open the second copy and bring the receipt. They will give you your money back, why would you open 2 copies?

And it involves ripping the data from the game and putting it into a folder, putting the folder onto a disc. I don't know how, but it's totally possible.

I didn't open the copy, my grandmother did because she couldn't get the price tag of without removing the whole packaging.

I just got a copy of the original PS1 "Metal Gear Solid" for $5 (they didn't have it on file, so they had to mark it as MGS 2) when I started talking about having never played it before, the employee ran to the back and pulled it out. He said that it got mixed up with the other games and they didn't want to get rid of it, but they also had real place on the shelves for it. After finding "Shadow of the Colossus" and "Beyond Good & Evil" a few weeks before. Now, if only they had "Ico"...

Also, this is my first time ever playing a Metal Gear Solid game that wasn't the shitty "Portable Ops" on PSP...Any tips?
well first, did the game come in its original box?

and 2en, grats on an awesome gamestop, mines preety cool too, i sold them halo 3 for about 25 bucks... last week.

Not for PS3 you can't. Well, one guy has hacked the PS3, today that happened, but the hack isnt public yet. And there are no emulators for xbox 360 or PS3, so you cant do it that way either.

Unless you meant just rip them, in which case: what would be the point?
Anyway, if you have taken the plastic off it makes sense they dont take it back. Would you want to buy a toaster if someone else has opened it?

there's one thing i reproche on Gamestop, it's that it allow creditcard-hackers to buy from them, i know that because a hacker got into a bunch of accounts in the main french banking company and i saw on my father's sheet retrieval of hundreds of euros, in a Gamestop store in the USA, Miami... so that's about it.
So what.... Any other store would have mystically known it was fake? Noooooooo. These credit card fraudsters aren't stupid. They get good fakes, and then use them. People wouldnt tell the difference

The GameStop near where I used to live wasn't that bad at all. They don't have anyting older than PS2 games and recently totally phased out original Xbox games, but I've been able to get some great games for decent prices, and the staff is actually a pretty nice group of guys as well.

Well, how much did you expect for Darksiders? After all, they're in the business of making money, and if no one buys your copy of Darksiders (I've seen some games on the shelf for a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time), they gave you money and got nothing for it.
I hope they didn't get anything for it.

That company sucks. I love the guys there though.

Nice staff, terrible company.
Yeah. One of my friends knew a guy who worked there and he said they were told to rip people off at any opportunity.

Its pretty fucked up there.

Did you know that employees can rent out brand new games from Gamestop and bring them back a week later and sell them as brand new again?

My Gamestops pretty cool, the people there are nice and they have a decent collecetion of games. They have a couple of carts of P.C games and a few tubs of used games from origional Xbox and PS2.

I go to my local Play n' Trade. They're very good, but...I traded in 2 games, one I bought from them for 30 dollars. I got 8 bucks for the both of them. Uuuuuuuuhhhhh....And they really don't have all the psp games I want very consistently.

I, too, seem to have the holy grail of Gamestops. It's staffed by competent people who aren't dicks, and the selection is pretty good.
This is basically how both of my GameStops are (my hometown has two). I guess I'm lucky never to have experienced a GameStop that sucks.

It's 30 bucks used and that's not bad but I don't have enough money to pay for it right now. I just spent 100 bucks preordering the Limited Edition of BioShock 2 and I had to preorder it or else I wouldn't get the Limited Edition and I might also just get Bad Company 2. I don't have 30 bucks to spend on PS2 games, even if they are classics.

Mines fine as well, they have pretty standart prices, but have awesome sales. They also have a lor of cheap pre-played games.
On top of that, the employees are friendly and helpfull, and as far as i can tell, they're gamers themselves.

Your Gamestop is awesome!

Mine is just average

Also, be sure to call people on the radio if you ever get stuck when playing MGS. And when you face Metal Gear....I'll pray for you.
