I was thinking they would be more likely to kill the lawyer, being less familiar with the games rules
Nah, the Killer just chose mostly at random and they got unlucky (which is lucky for us), so I don't think being new really has to do with it.

I was just told that no one knows who's in their team, even the Killer. So that probably means the Lawyer died by accident.
I think we need to ask for official rule changes listed for a round if the GM is gonna have differences from the normal. Like Armadox's I understood but if the killer didn't pick the lawyer and didn't know who they were I think it might have been worth mentioning up front.

The rules on page 1 of this thread are pretty barebones and mentions nothing about teams. It looks like FPLOON replaced text present in previous rounds with ellipses.

Weeeeeelll at least speaking as the murderee in this situation, I feel both me and the killer knew the risks on this one. I considered asking FPLOON "Is evilroy the lawyer" and he would have had to say yes, and relay that information to the killer. It would have saved me, but ultimately had minimal utility in the long term game. Instead I chose a slightly riskier option with a higher payout, wherein I asked a question about a person I already suspected of having a role and gambled on 1/22 chance of not getting killed and the 1/22 weighted chance of being intuitively right improving my likelyhood of survival.

I lost on that gamble, but such is the way of things.

These are all the new players to the game. I was also emailed a list from someone I assume to be the spy and a few of them are on there

Mr.Mattress
Demonjazz
Spiderrednight

what do you think about that guys
Oh no! The Lawyer is dead! That's terrible! What are we gonna do, guys?!

Also, I have no idea what the spy has on me. I can assure you, as a supreme noob, that I basically no very little of what I'm doing.

What'd I miss? Been sciencing something fierce. The Killer murdered the Lawyer? How should that be possible? Doesn't the Killer pick the Lawyer? Looking at the rules on page one though.

All Roles are assigned at random, yet players assigned a Role can decline said Role before the Round begins... All players can recommend each other for specific Roles for the current Round via a GM PM, which the current GM can consider when assigning Roles at random...
All Roles are assigned at random. I guess FPLOON is changing the rules this round? I wish that had been a bit more transparent.

I'd just like to point out also on page 1:

I better post now and then. So that later when I turn out to be the killer I can intentionally delay the start of the round, and use my presence now as an alibi, before ultimately casting doubt on Gritch, because why not. It'll be like last time, except I'll mean to do it and not fuck up immediately.
Oh shit. I better do the same. Alibi. Right here.

You know a smart killer would kill either of us round one. Everyone would immediately suspect the second one and have them executed. Two birds with one stone![sub]I have no idea why I'm putting those ideas into the future Killer's mind...[/sub]
@EvilRoy: Got you murdered even before I knew you were on team evil. Go me.

[sub]Shit. But doesn't that mean I'm next?[/sub]

I'm gonna give FPLOON the benefit of the doubt on that one. I think he's trying to take the game in another different direction. Meaning we get two rounds in a row of general mayhem. Which I don't really mind. That said, back to formula would be nice. Although murdered lawyer right off the bat is amusing. If a little unfair.

I only defend FPLOON though because I hope he'll hook me up with an extra lawyer. Don't worry, once I slay you all I'll set up a more reasonable game with just a wacky theme.

AH BEING COVERED IN THE BLOOD OF A LAWYER IS SO SWEET!!!

But not innocent. Damn it.

It's in my name, I don't know why people take so long to catch on to what team I'm on... You're probably roughly safe though, unless the killer is going for the double reach around 'make Gritch look evil' triplecross. Oooooooh unless you ARE the killer and it was your plan to incriminate yourself transparently to take blame away from yourself! Oh the webs we WEAVE. It feels weird being on team evil but not knowing who my boss is. Like secret hitler a little? At least this way I can't fuck up and give away game information I should be telling now that I'm dead.

They meant greater evil. I don't accept moral relativism. I am evil and proud!

Consider my mind officially blown. Who could've thought of any scheme so devilish? You really are EVIL!

The different rules section was the first thing I noticed when the thread started, but not everyone is a rules-nazi on my level.

I pretty much immediately assumed that I shouldn't assume anything, because these rules are as bare-bones as they get. My guess is that FPLOON wanted to steer his round into a more "free-form" version of the game where people think in terms of their actions rather than in terms of the rules they would like to abuse/ignore. But yeah, actually informing people of these changes would probably have been wise.

I noticed the new rules bits too and went over them... I still mis-understood some things, but that's on me for not PMing FPLOON during the 48 hour prologue setup to do that kind of stuff.

@gritchHad to google that one, doesn't sound too fun. You know its bad when line two in the wiki article says 'penetrating odour' although the description of the smell reminds me of a foaming compound we used to use to make a certain type of concrete. Like someone poured rotten coffee in an old leather boot and then vomited on it.

Responsible adults don't drink on thursdays anyway, which is what I'm telling myself because I completely spaced on the occasion because its not a stat here.

@CaramelEh, I'm not to worried about it. I don't want to be all "I'm too good for this game", but I really do find reading and writing death posts to be the most fun part. The rest can be a little bit of a hassle depending on the role since there can be so much work involved and just lies upon lies to keep track of.

And if you're not salty as I am about Frapp-o's betrayal, then Gritch. So far his predictions are correct! Let's not jinx it!

And if you're still set on murdering newbies, then Spiderrednight, I guess.... yadayadayadayadayadaembracethevoidyadayadagivememycrackcocaineyadayadafrappeyoutraitoryadayada.
It seems to me that you are the one betraying everyone. Perhaps everyone should vote for YOOOOOOOOUUU to die!

@Dirty Cop James funs: Pretty ballsy to show up and accuse everyone else :p

I get it, you're real jealous of my handsomeness and my completely appropriate use of .gifs that match the situation. However, as a stout follower of the Serial Killer code of conduct, I must adhere to Lesson One's etiquette rule 2: Stay away from the mentally and physically handicapped; that's cheating.

Also no guessing. Where's your certainty at? Sounds like someone who just wants others to die for the sake of it. Or it's just the ravings of a mad man. Ah well, doesn't bother me. "I'm confident enough in my manhood for this." - Yu Narukami

Wikipedia doesn't do it justice. Some of the older chemistry journals can be entertaining to read. Here's one on phenylphosphine [https://books.google.com/books?id=HEY9AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA389&dq=phenylphosphine&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjeirv7osnLAhVDYpoKHQm_DagQ6AEILTAB#v=onepage&q=phenylphosphine&f=false]. To quote page 389:

[Phenylphosphine] is a colourless liquid boiling at 160-161 and possessing a most repulsive, penetrating smell, which is so intense that mere opening of a flask containing the compound is sufficient to contaminate the air of a tolerably large room.
That's chemist talk for, "I made the compound and everyone in the room yelled at me because it smelled so bad."

I'm curious what compound you're working with that smells like "rotten coffee in an old leather boot and then vomited on it". I could talk about the smells of odd chemicals for probably longer than I should.

And nah. It's not all that ballsy. I usually give peeps here a poke or two on the first cycle so that they won't vote all willy-nilly and end up helping zee killer.
No, I suppose I don't if I haven't done it yet by imitating the two other forms of reply I've seen on here xD

Guy I have to drop from the game. I cannot grasp what exactly is going on, and I am in the wrong timezone to keep up with voting and whatnot.

So just put a bullet in my head, or something.

Aww, don't be too discouraged! I wasn't sure exactly how things worked in my first round either. And remember, you have at least 48 hours to vote, so it's not like you have to be ready to vote at all times.

And besides, it's not like we have a ton of leads at the moment, so voting for anyone is valid, really. When in doubt, you could pick someone from the list tf2godz posted.
