Skyrim: What turned out to be bullshit?

The single largest bit of bullshit I can identify was the claim that Skyrim was overhyped and would be plauged with bugs.

This game is A-MAZE-ING. Not perfect of course, but this is such a large jump ahead from Oblivion, they nailed nearly every aspect of gameplay. I the quick select, though I wish I could do both that and pre-ordered number buttons so I can switch back and forth between mage and warrior and archer easier.

The only thing they really need to improve upon is some of the character animations. They're fine in battle, but they are just okay in conversation. Dynamic movement seems to be difficult for them. Not really complaining though. I love this game.

You know the map has to have limits right? There has to be certain heights and certain distances you can't reach because it isn't rendered.

Also, patrolling Whiterun almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter... OH WAIT!

Seriously though, the reused lines need to stop, or at least become less frequent. It's a serious problem once you get into crowded markets

there's a dog some where out there I told to stop following me, you can talk to him and he sounds like he'd be from New Jersey or New York, he is totally out of place in the game, almost like a contest winner went with what he though would be the best to do. I'll find him soon and list him.

And the snow. Yes, it's pretty, but having it snow 24/7 is bad for visibility, and it's generally detrimental to the atmosphere. I want some damn sunshine every now and then.
????

Not sure but, in my game, there's been more times without snowfall then with. It kinda depends on where you are, though, but in most valleys its dry and sunny on a regular basis.

I wish there was some form of levitation or slow-fall. I keep overestimating my characters ability to land without dying.
there's a shout for that. quite useful actually. It essentially makes you invincible for a period of time (but you can't really do much, I mainly use it to hopscotch off cliffs)
name = "Become Ethereal"

it's available fairly early on

EDIT: OT: I've been too blinded by greatness to really nitpick that much.

Oh, and the "WAr-Effort" Quests... The first couple were quite interesting but then... It got very meh very quickly.

But that was for Rebellion at least. Not sure about the other side.

You people are such whiners.

This is suppose to be a real functioning world, and you're crying because the snow obscures your distance viewing??! Do you sit at home on a forum complaining when it rains in real life too?

So far, I haven't run into anything game breaking, I'm accepting the world and rules within the world.

Game is epic, I'm going to be playing it for a LONG time.
You forget that with our generation there must always be something wrong with a product. Don't get me wrong Skyrim has it's faults but I couldn't give a shit because I'm enjoying it so much.

1. Left-hand only shields, and no "block" trigger. Seriously, what the fuck? I can choose between inverted hands (and that is just freaking annoying), or left click blocking. Seriously, fuck that.

2. Dragging things along by holding down the same button that picks things up. Soooo many times have I picked up rubbish, when all I wanted was to throw it off a ledge or something. Also, inventory-capable items are the only things you are able to carry around. Annoying as hell.

3. Dragons are easier to kill than Frost Trolls. I usually just turn up the difficulty when battling dragons, but it's getting a bit annoying.

I'm just waiting for some mods to fix this. Other than that, enjoying the hell out of this game.

Why the heck is there no quicksave for the PS3. A simple "hold down the START button to quicksave" can't be too hard to add!

Hm.

How sometimes if I use my mouse to click speech options, it won't register the one I want. It'll pick the one above or below my wanted response. Sometimes I end up being a dick when I don't want to be.

Also, and this is petty, but all the children look and sound alike. Their faces are all the same and even their clothing is relatively the same. Hell, even Babette looks like "Generic Little Girl" - it anyone should get some uniqueness, it'd be her.

I mean, maybe I just need to explore more, but it's kind of odd; I end up thinking that there's just one father to all these children, and he REALLY gets around...

So far, the main issue I've had playing it is that there is no breath meter. Otherwise, I wish there was a way to re-speck your specializations.

Question: Am I the only one who had a dragon attack a city that I just fast traveled to? Once I went to Whiterun I believe and a dragon cam and attacked, landing on the on of the Blacksmith's house (the girl's), so several of the guards, and a few of the citizens, and me fought the dragon. Eventually, we killed it, but then the guards killed me since someone walked into my flame spell... It was still awesome regardless. Anyone figure out how to stop a fight with the guards?

I want more so badly, too bad I was only playing my brother's copy and am waiting until christmas before getting this game.

EDIT: Corrected the city name

My biggest complaint is that the game doesn't save enough when exploring the world (which goes for most Bethesda games) and I end up losing 20+ minutes of gameplay when I die.

Well I'm not sure if this counts, but the bosses at the end of dungeons are a little easy for me. Then again, my destruction level is at 63 and I have arch-mage robes so maybe thats because I'm a mage. I'll have to try with a more melee oriented character to confirm or disprove this.

Whiterun or Windhelm? 'Cause Whitehelm isn't a place.

I've had Dragons attack cities randomly, too, though. Actually, I've had THREE attack while I was putzing around in Winterhold.

Warrior-type characters are stupidly overpowered. Just saying.

It doesn't matter. Once you get one of the 50 skill melee abilities (Savage strike, I think) you have a chance to insta kill humanoids with power attacks by quick kill beheading. I was all excited to go kill a cave full of vampires and braced for a hard fight, then I decapitated the master vampire with my second attack and walked right back out to turn in the quest.

The interface is wonky and evidently designed for consoles; it doesn't get along with a mouse very well, and sometime it doesn't even respond to a keyboard.

The graphics are pretty and better, but the races and their presets look ugly as hell. What is it you have against pretty people, Bethesda?

Also, the "professions" and crafting systems. Chopping wood is tapping the "use" button and waiting for a minute or so. I was hoping the blacksmithing would be an involved process, at least Dark Messiah of Might and Magic style where you have to melt the metal, cast it, hammer it, let it cool then attach whatever leather. I was disappointed immensely when it was just "have materials, select from dropdown menu".

Also, they removed spell-making! Why!? Why can't I make my own flamethrower spell that actually hurts more than piss past second level? The channeled spells like Sparks, Frostbite, etc. are probably some of the most useful damage spells in the game as far as mechanics go but their damage doesn't increase at all. It sucks!
