All these fake doomsday prophecies are just propaganda to distract us from the REAL doomsday threat, the underground lizardmen rising up to wipe out humanity and reclaim the surface for themselves!

What? It's just as probable as a lot of the theories out there and infinitely more awesome :(.

Might kill you Americans. We're far enough away to make plans before it hits.
Plans to... what? Cover your ears and go "Lalalalala"?

If the Earth catches fire, the Earth catches fire. No escape for anyone.

Although A. There isn't enough gas to kill the planet, so you might not need to plan anything, and B. there's a decent chance it won't even happen.
The fire will most likely wipe out the west and then kill the rest of the world by poisoning. We live through the bang and then make plans to survive the poison.

So this gas bubble is going to kill everyone again? And how small was 96% of the population then, compared to the billions of people in the population now? I think if anything does happen, we'll be fine.
I don't believe the theory, but I'm just gonna correct you there. It's not 96% of the human population that it killed, it was 96% of all life on the planet, which includes plants and tiny little insects, all that noise.
Yeah, I worded my first post wrong, and made it sound like just humans. But still, most living things have a way more expanded population this many years later compared to what was around then. I just think it wouldn't be as bad in comparison to that time. (Assuming anything does happen, of course)

"Many geologists concur" it says. Yeah, that's precise. "Many geologists". I bet you could find "many geologists" that don't agree, too.

There's a number of old bomb shelters in my area, I think I'll be fine with this provided I can get the internet working in one of them.

Damn you Doomsday, DAMN YOU!
Doomsday seems to be a big business...I should start work now on MY doomsday theory so as to profit off of people's fear

If we still had the Weekly World News, we would have more threats of doomsday and better explanations about why and how we were saved...I believe in the Bat Boy! For he shall save us again and again

Take that global warming, Jesus, asteroids, Mayan... whatever exactly is supposed to happen with that..., sedentary lifestyles, McDonalds, zombies, alien invaders, Yellowstone, and the LHC! BP beat you guys in record time with half the effort!

Better luck next time.

Oh well.

I'm still convinced that the end of the world, or at least society as we know it, is when too much of the population buys into one of these and goes bat-shit crazy over it.

Maybe I should buy some bottled water... or a gun.

How many times are we going to die next 5 years?
well if you follow all the relions/conspiracy theorists/other then I wouldn't make any plans any time soon. In fact I would just get a big permanent marker pen, go to your calendar and just write "DEATH!!!!" in big letters all across it.

If it happens, it happens.
It's probably exaggerated anyway. At it's worst, we all die. But what will probably just happen is that everyone along the gulf coastline gets cancer.

Since when do I care if some guy says we're all gonna die? It's going to happen some day, but it could happen ANY day. Maybe in a few centuries, maybe in a few seconds. Nobody is going to figure out before it happens.

A massive flaming ball hitting a massive ball of extremely flammable gas? You'd be able to see the explosion from Andromeda. One half of the planet would be blown to bits in classic cartoon fashion, leaving a crescent behind, which would spiral out of orbit before breaking up. Anyone who wasn't utterly vaporized by the asteroid (meaning cockroaches and Aussie Land) will fly off into space when the gravity gets wonky and the atmosphere fails. The death would be quick, yet painful, and yet TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME.

As I fade into space, I would have one last thing to say (a shame since without air, no words would form)...

There is just the slightest chance that I was being sarcastic. Maybe a little. And that would be an epic last quote to have.

Ridiculous nonsense. Here's the problem were it true: what do you plan to do about it?

Yeah.

If I were you, I could find many things to waste my time with that are more substantial than doomsday rumors. They're just made to get weak people to panic, or maybe to increase the public's reliance on news media, which is already far, far too high.
