Although A. There isn't enough gas to kill the planet, so you might not need to plan anything, and B. there's a decent chance it won't even happen.

I don't believe the theory, but I'm just gonna correct you there. It's not 96% of the human population that it killed, it was 96% of all life on the planet, which includes plants and tiny little insects, all that noise.

Yeah, I worded my first post wrong, and made it sound like just humans. But still, most living things have a way more expanded population this many years later compared to what was around then. I just think it wouldn't be as bad in comparison to that time. (Assuming anything does happen, of course)

A massive flaming ball hitting a massive ball of extremely flammable gas? You'd be able to see the explosion from Andromeda. One half of the planet would be blown to bits in classic cartoon fashion, leaving a crescent behind, which would spiral out of orbit before breaking up.
