As a feminist, I'm never stepping foot in one of those places. That is to say, as someone with a basic respect for women.
Why do people still describe them self as "feminist" each time i hear it i think crazy woman with a bullhorn. Need a new word for it, something unblemished by the ugly side of feminism(the crazy ones)

Man, I wonder sometimes about people.

Yes, some strippers are there because they like it. But I am quite sure that a lot of them are there just for the damned money to live off of, or just have bad habits that need that support.

There is a reason such assumptions are in place about strip joints. Because a lot of the time they are right.
They are strip clubs. People are free to do whatever they wish, but nothing is great about a strip club.

[sarcasm]
Ohhhhh....Naked people. Amazing![/sarcasm]
Give me a damned break.

Well excuse me for not thinking its ok to support the idea of woman getting naked for money. I will no longer be posting in this thread.

See that you don't. Kevin Rudd would not approve of your shenaniganising!
Anyway, I go to this one place sometimes, when my friend is happy and drunk and full of money. It's not a bad place- had some boys down from Sydney that thought it was awesome and well-priced. Your holier-than-thou attitude makes me sick, and I wish the world worked like you think it does just for the sake of having fewer "champions of justice" running around criticizing things/professions that have bee around longer than YOUR MUM!
I generally find it to be a short-lived and unsatisfying use of my money, so I generally just sit around, have moderately-priced beer/JD&Coke, and monitor said friend's wallet so he doesn't use up all his money- unless he pressures me to get a lapdance. The ladies are providing a service that all of the patrons are willing to pay for, the bouncers scare the shit out of me- but after a while you can have a good chat and a smoke with them.
Some of the customers can be a little weird though.

I suppose you never buy video games, either? I mean, the treatment of women in almost all video games is absolutely awful.

I went to a strip club once in celebration of my brother's 19th birthday. He had a riot but I was bored. Sure there were naked chicks dancing only a couple of metres away but they looked and smelled like ass. I spent my time watching an NHL game on the TV rather than the dancers.

I hear yea, it's not like those girls have a choice if they go and work there or not.

Strip clubs can be fun but only with friends, going alone would suck.

It was my 22nd bday and my friend thought they would take me to a strip club. It was my first time in a strip club... and it was amazing!

It was just so much fun, what a laugh we had indeed.

There was also a little surprise for me as well because it was my birthday...I was called on stage, tied up & blindfolded, loads of ice was then put down my pants and then my ass was caned and signed with a permanent marker

Anyway, what a laugh that was...

Would you/have you been to a strip club?
Glad you had a good time! I WORK at a strip club ;)

Well, people treat it like its such a big deal. There are quite a few people in the world. And I'm willing to bet quite a few of them look the same.

Just saying.

No... just no. To be honest, I hate the very idea of them. Their very purpose, everything they stand for and the entire reason they exist involves and encourages the objectification and demeaning of women, and I don't think they're good for the men there either. I'm no feminist, but I stand strongly against the places.

You realise that if you closed all the strip-clubs, a lot of hard-working(Really!) women would be out of their jobs, right? You'd be taking their livelihood away from them. Nobody is forcing the women to become strippers, it's their own choice. You're not ruining it for the men, you're ruining it for the women.

How are they not good for the men there, though? That point I'm curious about.

Sorry i guess we know how to have fun.
Yes, there is only one kind of fun and you decide what it is.

Sorry to bring you back to this thread but think of it this way, they might have dropped out of high school for whatever reason and this is a great way of making serious cash with no real skill or education needed.

Another way to think about it is, who is using who? Yeah, the guys are gettin cheap sexual thrills but the girls are using that to there advantage and making good money off the male need for ... arousal? Apparently they find it quite empowering.

Little more on topic. I will never go to one, for the reasons mentioned above. I don't want my lil soldier to be spending my money on what the net or a few bottles of booze can achieve.

Edit. Loving the white knights on this thread, I don't think they want saving, of course there are some that want out. I am also willing to bet you have looked at a random girl and the first thing that popped into your head was "man, I would!" so as for objectifying goes it doesn't stand up well.

I'm sorry that you don't enjoy looking at naked ladies, but don't knock it for the 90% of us who do.
But don't you just assume that 90% of the population likes to do that. Watch the generalizations man.
