You can try to defend this as much as possible, but people like you are the reason this vote didn't pass.

BTW that chart says that while 97.1% of precincts voted, only 43.3% of registered voters did. You'll be EXTREMELY hard pressed to find a state wide vote where 97% of people in a WHOLE STATE show up to vote.

EDIT: Whoops, I guess a lot of other people beat me to that. But yeah, I hope you learned something about democracy and laziness. Put down the blunt for 5 minutes to go vote... (It's what I would have done.)

You have the resources and capability to look up these statistics, yet were unable to find out how to vote?

You know... I really do hate listening to people who don't bother to at least try to enact some change whine, but then I keep encountering people I'm not sure I WANT voting. Goes back to that selective ignorance thing Americans have going on, they can rattle off baseball stats going back to 1967 but they have no idea who's on their money. The internet, which could be used for the education and enlightenment of mankind, is used for porn and scams.

I weep for the future.

Even though I'm not in California, I'm sad it didn't get passed: it really could've stabilized California's economy, and I would've seen if Darwin's ideas of Natural Selection can be applied.

Marijuana is, in a simple term, the opposite of Caffeine. It makes you relaxed instead of energetic.

That's it. It's LESS addictive than Alcohol. It doesn't cause an aggressive behaviour (Again, like Alcohol does) It barely has any withdrawal effects and it's near impossible to overdose on.

Quoted from Saferchoice.org
Alcohol is one of the most toxic drugs, and using just 10 times what one would use to get the desired effect can lead to death. Marijuana is one of ? if not the ? least toxic drugs, requiring thousands times the dose one would use to get the desired effect to lead to death. This ?thousands times? is actually theoretical, since there has never been a recorded case of marijuana overdose.

Drugs like Aspirin, ... oh, I can't be bothered reeling off the list again.

Perhaps if certain drugs were de-criminalised then we could use them to save lives? But no, to some people every drug is a GATEWAY TO SATAN!

Just like games, and rock & roll, and everything else we're told to hate.

/sigh

*****, you have no idea why I hate the stuff.

Arguments like yours are exactly the type of arguments those damn addicts use in their sad attempts to avoid responsibility for their own actions.

I don't hate games and rock, btw. I just hate humanity and it's stupid overdependence on shit like drugs. I'm all up for painkillers and such if the situation really calls for it, but you know just as damn well as I do that this is hardly ever the case and that most people abuse subscription drugs.

Exactly...I read somewhere that it would take roughly 800 consecutive joints to die from "Marijuana overdose" and even then, the death is actually caused by Carbon Monoxide poisoning, not the THC.

But remember everyone, Marijuana is bad because the government says it is.

Have a nice day, and remember, Big Brother is watching! :p

I wanted it to pass, but I know that people are still too ignorant and paranoid about drugs right now. I would have voted if I could though.

I hate marijuana, so I'm honestly glad it didn't pass. I would have voted no.
My guess is that he/she, was too high to leave the house...

And this reasoning is stupidest.

If you don't vote you don't get to moan about the outcome, simple as.
Not at all, I don't usually vote. I can see the problems with every issue. Therefore I moan regardless of what happens, whether or not I vote. Negativity for the win!

Seriously though, to me democracy is the most overrated form of government. I'm not saying that the others are much better, but it sure is irritating reading these guys saying "I don't agree with the verdict, but I agree it's the way it should be because majority rules".

I don't think we are saying we should agree with the majority rules thing, we are saying if he didn't try to change the results making pot legal the majority he shouldn't really complain. I mean it's like this, lets say me and you and a few friends are picking on a pizza to get and I want mushrooms (I love mushrooms on pizza with pepperoni ;)) and you want olives. If are we vote and olives win I could be a little upset about it, but if i said i don't care and be a little upset it would be just as bad but the fact i didn't even care what we get would make me look selfish.

3 REALLY good reasons for legalizing drugs:
1. Crime organizations lose their main source of income, making it harder for them to commit heavier/real crime.
2. Less people in jail = less money YOU have to pay for people living in jail.
3. Adults have the right to their own body. If I can chop of my own arm, if I can fill my body full of fat, there is no good reason why I shouldn't be allowed to get stoned at home. As long as I'm not drugged whilst:
- Working
- Driving
- Taking Care of People
- At public events
- Public Transit.
Basically, same rules would apply for drugs as rules apply for being drunk or tobacco smoking.

So just out of curiosity, where rank do you rate democracy?

oh well, it would probably get used less otherwise. and no matter how you look at the issue of drugs, they can (and there's a high chance they will) ruin your life.

And this comes from a guy living in the Netherlands, where the dumbasses who actually get legal weed and such waste their time on the crap.
All drugs should be legal everywhere. Why do you care if someone wastes their time on that crap ? I surely not. They can die of overdose for all I care.
lol the world according to you. It's much more complicated than you make it out to be. You think that people doing the drugs will be the only people hurt in such a scenario?
And I still dont care. Everyone has a freedom of choice, and everyone faces consequences of their choices.
this argument would only make sense if drugs were the only thing that is illegal, stealing is illegal, yet with this same logic one could argue that people should have "freedom of choice" ( which is redundant by the way)

If you vote you have NO right to complain. Don't vote, EVERY right to complain.
That only works if you have the chance to vote for asshole A or asshole B, like in elections. In that case by not voting you are showing no confidence in either of the candidates as they will probably do a rubbish job either way and if everyone took this approach then for 1 it would be amazing to see the response and for 2 neither of the assholes would be elected and what should happen is they keep searching until there is someone who is capable of doing a decent job running for the position.

In the case of voting for a specific law where there is one turn out that you actually want then you can't complain if you didn't vote and didn't get your way. If no-one voted in this case nothing would be changed and as a result you would still not got the turn out you wanted.

Basically in cases where by voting you can't win - don't, cases that you can win - do

I don't really care. What's gonna happen, all the addicts are going to whine about not getting their fix? "Get the government out of my marijuana, I deserve the right to smoke it." Oh, please, even if they do care about those rights, it's rarely the principle that they are arguing for; they just want to get high. Besides, those who really want it will find a way to get it anyway. The laws in place only keep it from getting ridiculously out of hand.
Uhm, you realize you sound like a retard?
Marijuana isn't addictive...at all....someone just failed hardcore.
Edit: You should go watch the movie The Union, should clear this up for you.
Wow, I guess you're right - I'm a total retard. I forgot that there was no such thing as a "stoner".

But honestly, you realize that YOU sound like a retard? You're actually going to tell me that marijuana is not addictive at all? Even things like television, video games, sex, and food can be addictive. In fact, literally everything can be addictive if you have it enough times.
Okay bro
