Means you shouldnt judge how other people live while our lives aint that great either. Pollution is mainly caused by us west (including Japan, not geographical west i mean) , we dont force people other than we make junk food cheap and advertise it 50 times a day (people with lesser income wont buy lettuce or something for 5 dollars when they can buy 5 big macs for that cash) , a lot ofour food is very unhealthy, also i mean that we are quick to judge other people, but we do nothing for our own people who live in a ruined city or no where at all. My point being dont look at someone else before you look at yourself, and put yourself in their situation. If its not similar to you then you are closed minded, just think about it. Sure some arabs take it extreme but thats what one person wants, not a hundred million of them, sure the law is crap and silly but do you know that theres a law in america in places that a police officer needs to check your swimsuit before you can swim, and you cant dance in it? - pretty strange too aint it. Well, I get what you're saying, but I'm not judging them because they are "different", I'm judging them because they are committing government-sanctioned human rights violations against women.

Eating healthy food from a grocery store is less expensive than eating fast food, and even if it wasn't, taking care of your body is your own responsibility, if you want to be healthy then you might have to go out of your way a little for it.

And many of the particularly stupid laws in the US are both harmless and more importantly not enforced. But even our most harmful, ignorant laws are made to look like nothing when compared to the insane shit they have in some of the middle-eastern countries.

There are those in the Afghani parliament that I can say are truly interested in advancing their country, but they're under constant treat from the Taliban and those loyal to Hamid Karzai. The wonders of democracy...

Apparently Hamid is one of the "good guys". Someone we put in power after tossing out the Taliban. This move is clearly to keep the muslim fundamentalists on side for the election which he sees as more important than international approval or the rights of Afghan women.

Following this, should allied forces still be in Afghanistan helping to keep this man in power? Should financial support be pulled? One of the reasons given for removing the Taliban was the mistreatment of women and now Hamid is upholding the same values.

What are your views?

I've heard of this before. When you think about it though it's not really that big of a deal. Not to mention, we can't intervene or we will wind up with another Iraq-like scenario.

"We" did not do anything. The troops over there did it, and the strategic level decided thing. 'We' have no influence on what is happening over there.


But seeing on how it could have been (Raping the woman and still give her no food) I'd say it is within reasonable boundries. The values of the people over there are drastically different from the ones people have here. American (And European) society might find it despicable, but afganic people might find it very reasonable.

It's not racist to speak out against a religion. Also, a culture and religion are not exclusive. When you have a theocratic regiem, your culture is dictated by your religion.

What I meant was the parts of culture that do not stem from Islam clash with Islam and its teachings almost invariably.
