Bugger me. That is one hell of a load of discounts.

Already snapped up the Oddbox, waiting for other stuff I'm interested in to go right down.

He could be someone who hates HATS. Or microtransactions.

Must... Show... Restraint...
I'm looking at Super Meat Boy and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for today, but I'm low on dough so I'll need to think about this...

He said Valve, not TF2.

And in any case, the answer to that would just be to not wear the hats, and to get the stuff by playing.

TOP TIPS:

Coming from some who spent tons last year :)

Even easier this year now there's a wishlist option

If you have more time than money, go thru Steam and add everything you want, even slightly interested in, to your wishlist.

BUT, unless it's on daily deal, or you need it now, don't buy...

Then check each day to see if it's on the daily extra discounts, you'll save a fair bit extra doing it this way, then on the final day of the sale, buy everything you want that didn't get extra discounts.

and bah, Witcher isn't on sale! (maybe it'll show as a daily deal tho).

I offer this advice but I've already bought some indie games because I couldn't wait, mainly the Katamari clone, 'Wonderful end of the world'.

i love you steam. if only i had a gift to give to you. :(
You gave them money, didn't you?
But is that truly enough of a gift to steam?
'

No, you're right... Hmm... Surely we should sacrifice something.
It just so happens that I have an unbaptised child and a half gallon of goats blood handy... which I have no need to explain away since they are common household items...

If Valve haven't completely screwed you over at one point or another, you haven't lived!

Also, if you're finding it hard to find something to spend money on, go to the main games list and sort by price - 'The Misadventures of P B Winterbottom' the time travel based pie puzzler? 39 pence? Another dozen or so indie games all under a pound? gotta be worth browsing!

As for the site falling over, the americans on this site have seen what stores are like on 'Black Friday', the occasional tap of the refresh button is less annoying than some 300lb mom treading on your face to get to the discount cushions.

Sure it's irritating, and the downloads will be crippled for a day or so, but I think the prices are worth putting up with a little inconvenience :D

Or they could buy a ton more servers and push all the prices up?

A Question for regular steam users:

I'm getting a new PC in April next year. so can I buy some games in the christmas sale, but then install them on a different PC afterwards?
Once you have the games linked to your account, you can install and subsequently play on any other computer.
