Actually, after seeing the sales figures for iPhone 4, I'm betting that Jobs has a cushy managerial position down there. No way that many people are THAT retarded.gmaverick019 said:agreed.erztez said:Nah, if there is an afterlife, I'm pretty sure Jobs isn't spending it with the guy upstairs...gmaverick019 said:despite how much i disliked the man as a tyrant, he did help make technology what it is today.

i might just have to poke my head downstairs with a troll face on saying "u mad? it's gonna cost you alot more than an ipad down here, instead of an arm and a leg it's your whole damn being."
Ok, I get you had a bad day or whatever. Was that really necessary though? I just made a statement of surprise that he is truly dead. Good company, that.
Neither do any of the other DD platforms; I know what you were getting at, but apples to apples, please. My point was about pioneers cornering markets, not about Apple's (highly successful) attempts at overcharging technologically under-educated rubes.gmaverick019 said:steam doesn't cost an arm and a leg though...Owyn_Merrilin said:In this case, it wasn't an attempt at circumventing anti-trust laws; he was just such a good advertiser that he managed to corner each of those markets right at the start. and they don't update it every single 6 months and make you shell out even more for it.
Fair enough. Have you tried Impulse or Direct 2 Drive, though? I haven't tried D2D, but I was quite happy with the two games I registered through Impulse. I don't know if it's changed since Gamestop bought it, but it used to be essentially DRM free, although Stardock was never able to get games as quickly as Valve, nor were they able to negotiate for quite as good sale prices. For all the dressing up of the DRM it does, Steamworks is still one of the most oppressive forms of it on the market.erztez said:Damn you for being reasonable and constructing a logical argument. Ehm.
On the other hand, Steam is a piece of crap, but the other options are WORSE. I'd use Origin in a second if that shit actually had ONE advantage over steam (and no, carrying EA titles hasn't been an advantage for years now. Same with the rest.
Though I can honestly say I don't even use steam that much. I crack all my games immediately after purchasing them. Why? Because I can, and because they generally run better after I do.

That is always tragic.
Jobs aside, surely we can agree that some deaths are either necessary or funny as hell?
In short.

Actually, my day just keeps getting better and better. It wasn't exactly necessary, but it was FUN.CleverCover said:Ok, I get you had a bad day or whatever. Was that really necessary though? I thought he would live a bit longer. He wasn't in the best of health, but like when MJ died, I'm shocked to hear of his passing. It's going to be odd not hearing his name in the news constantly for something Apple did anymore.
It's like something happening to Gabe Newell. I'd be shocked as all hell for that too.
Here's a better example, for future reference; Les Paul died shortly after (like, in the same week as) Michael Jackson. He was an incredibly skilled Jazz guitarist, the inventor of the solid body electric guitar, the namesake of the Gibson Les Paul, and, most importantly, the inventor of multi-tracked recording. That's right, Michael Jackson's music (and that of pretty much every other major musician since at least Jimi Hendrix), would not have been possible without the contributions of Les Paul. I was so upset that Michael Jackson was all over the news for several weeks, while Les Paul barely even got a mention.CleverCover said:Ok, I get you had a bad day or whatever. I respect the man, as well as Apple's pre- iThings legacy. While I hate the ridiculous amount of obsolescence by design (iPad 3 ALREADY? What did they add???) and marketing to style over function, those tactics helped make mp3 players big and made smartphones mainstream. Jobs was a marketing genius and a creative mind.octafish said:Indeed, it is sad, despite the apple haters, he was a key player in developing the personal computer.
hah oh i know, fair enough, it's just too tempting sometimes to poke and prod at jobs with a stick, even if he is dead (sounds like a bad simpsons episodes..bart is out in the woods and finds a dead body and just pokes at it with nelson or something)Owyn_Merrilin said:Neither do any of the other DD platforms; I know what you were getting at, but apples to apples, please.
