Me and my friends are always swearing on it, thats just because it creates more hype and its fun to encourage the little kids with their ear-splitting shrieking when you mock them for being such noobs.

The reason PSN people never swear it because none of them have Mics, because they are boring losers, playing COD4 or COD:WoW with no people speaking? Hah, what a bunch of losers.
Yes... they are the ones who are the losers.

I've been cursed at... A LOT... and there have been several racial slurs being fed back and forth between teams and team mates over halo 3... but then again... who really cares? the only reason they curse you off so in depth is because they can't get around the fact that you just shot their head off from across the map no scope (as you usually do... maybe its time to play something else...) so they decide instead of trying to pull that manuver... that it'll just be faster to try to take you down... by your feelings... pansys... suck it up and just CHAINSAW MY ARSE ALREADY!

President Obama swore just the other day, and that was on national tv!

Swearing is a part of life.

I'm in party chat most of the time that I play Xbox. So most of my conversations go
"Oi, get some kills man!"
"What you talking about, get some deaths!"
But on the few occasions I'm out of party chat people advise me to stop killing them or they will hunt me down. I generally wish them luck and go about killing them some more.

I've often been cursed at. Most frequently in Halo 3 where I literally cannot go a game without having my ears assaulted by the often incredibly young foul-mouthed retards that seem to crop up in every game. Battlefield: Bad Company is sometimes pretty bad as well, though rather than having children swearing instead I get what sounds like an adolescent pot enthusiast. Interestingly enough, I have never heard anyone curse AT someone when playing L4D - instead it's usually normal cursing (Oh shit - smoker got me and now I've been puked on by a boomer and the like)

I don't get people PAYING to play online in XBL, just to get shrieked at by an army of apes.

But that's their problem.

There should be some game mechanic that people can't talk when they get fragged. just until they respawn their mics get muted. It would cut down on the swearing heard / be a little more realistic. How many soldiers do you hear cuss and call people "wall hackers, aim botter!" after they get shot in the head?

Your playing an online game, anybody here who has played in ANY online game knows that 90% of the people there are a bunch of rude, non caring, offensive swearing whores, who have nothing better to do than to make your day as unplesant as possible. And yes on psn people are the same way.
I haven't seen any evidence of that on PSN. Well, not that "90%" are arseholes. 10% tops.

Xbox Live is home of the retard. On PSN, most of the swearing is of the "shit! I got shot!", as opposed to "Oh my fucking god you fucking fag! I'm going to fucking kill you fucking cocksucker cuntbag!"

Hell, most of the cunts on PSN are the ones with music playing over their headset, rather than 10 year olds shrieking obscenities.
Well maybe it"s just me and I have bad luck cuz everytime I play an online game most of the time I hear "Alpha reaper you F-ing suck", "Alpha likes to suck alpha dick", "Alpha you F-ing ****** your kind is the reason why the world is the F-ed up way it is" (that last one REALLY pissed me the hell off). But hey maybe im just bad with people I don't know.

I swear at the A.I. when I get killed in SP so ya I am gonna swear when I get killed online. Especially if I am playing an M rated game. You snipe me from across the map you are damn right I will call you a bastard. If someone asks me to tone it down or if I offend someone and they tell me I am the first to apologize. Shouldn't be anything wrong with havin some smack talk.

Why is it that the moment some "prepubesent kid" starts no one seems to act polite and try to be reasonable with them? It seems to me that the moment it starts everyone freaks out and almost encourages the behaviour.

Lol, gotta love Halo online. Where the leader swears at the last place players for being stupid noobs, the last place swear back to get a F-ing life, and the other guys swear at all them to STFU. Rinse and repeat, for every game. At least thats 95% of my online experiences

Okay I can understand that when you get worked up you begin to swear. But alot of the people here are saying they like to swear simply because it's fun. What's funny about it?

I usually play in Party Chat with friends, so I'm sort of immune from this problem.
It isn't just XBL, though, give people a free microphone and 90% of them will use it to be a dickhole.

When people are given the anonymity to swear at others without being seen some of them will take advantage of it. I think swearing on XBL is in poor taste. It is supposed to be a fun environment for everybody, and people who don't appreciate swearing wouldn't have as much fun playing online.

Oh and to fire up the discussion I also wanted to mention that on PSN this kind of stuf rarely happens Wich is kinda weird because PSN is free, so you would think there are alot more nutjobs there.
Maybe because their mums aren't prepared to fork over the money for a PS3.

I personally choose not to play online. I'm too cheap to pay for a gold account :D But then again I dont play FPS's so essentially online would be pointless to me anyway.
