Hmm, point taken. I initially took your comment for conceit rather than apathy, and with the benefit of hindsight I apologize for being such a dick.Furburt said:Oh, undoubtedly. It's just I can't be shocked over any affront to humanity anymore because I have no faith in it. In my view horrible things like this are par for the course in human nature. I certainly don't condone it but I'm finding it hard to be shocked by it anymore. I think it says more about the world than it does me.dbrose said:Okay, you're immoral. And insensitive. Although I bet you *would* care if it was you on the wrong end of it.Furburt said:Uh. There has been so much of this I'm completely desensitised to it. Call me immoral, but I really don't care anymore.
Hardly, forgiveness does not mean that the act that was forgiven was acceptable. Back off all the religious hate, the problem is the Judge let the rapist go, not that the parents forgave him.Shoqiyqa said:Do them for child abuse. Don't worry three years will straighten him out. What's the maximum amount of times you can get raped in three years? Take that number and double it, that's how many he will and because of what he's going to jail no one will really want to help him or be his friend. But still, I could agree with you that he could do more time, I mean raping two adolescents is seriously fucked, imagine what this is going to do to the kids mentally. It will fuck them up... for the rest of there lives.beddo said:This is just sickening. A 16 year old rapist was allowed to walk free with a pathetic community order as punishment for raping a 7 year old boy. It is thought that the lenient sentence was partly because the boy's Christian parents forgave the criminal.Within days of walking free he raped a 5 year old boy. I've included a number of references to show I'm not some outraged Daily Mail reader who is exaggerating:

This is so unjust in so many ways. Firstly, the original sentence; maybe the judge doesn't believe that male on male rape is serious, this is obviously a disgusting attitude and has no credence. Secondly, religion should be kept out of the courts when it comes to judgement. Perhaps more importantly, the parents should not be allowed to be recognised to 'forgive' on the child's behalf. It is the child who has to live with this, these parent are despicable. However, it does seem that they expected a much more serious punishment for him. How can a paedophile be allowed to be convicted and not go to jail for at least 20 years!?
The following rape is almost more disturbing, had the authorities stood up to their responsibility it would not have happened. This judge should be in the dock next to the criminal for accessory to the rape. Now he's only been given 3 years! 3 years! And this was from a 'harsher' judge.
F**k the justice system. It's a joke.
just because you're 16 years old doesn't mean you don't know the difference between right and wrong. some people can't be helped. even if he "just needs help" they should've gotten it to him after the first incident, forgiven or not.ShredHead said:Oh shock horror, they forgave him!Machines Are Us said:Admittedly it is hard to care sometimes, I don't mean that in a sick, insensitive way, but with so much shit that happens if you let yourself get affected by all of it you'll never be happy.Furburt said:Uh. That said, this is pretty sickening, especially the parents forgiving the rapist of all things.
They should forgive him, and so should the child when he becomes an age that he can understand, and they shouldn't hate him, they should pity him.
The person who did this was 16! Imagine what was in his mind, try and empathise with the rapist himself, of course this was horrible for the boy who got raped but everyone seems to be forgetting that the guy who did this doesn't need punishment, he needs serious help.
No, but it does give a completely new meaning to the phrase, doesn't it?geldonyetich said:I don't think that's what the good book means by turning the other cheek.
I think they should drop him into "big boys" prison and see how that goes over.Aunel said:wow, this is bad,

Wow. That is fucking disturbing. Agreed about the judge, btw.beddo said:This is just sickening.
