I take a Warhammer 40K kind of approach to this sort of thing.
Purge the rapist.
PC? no. Agrees with everything my conscience tells me? Hell Yes.
In this case, I was pissed when I saw three years, but it actually looks like three years is the minimum, with him being held until he's no-longer considered a threat to society. By all rights, that should be the rest of his life. Anyone who lets him out after this second offense should be sent to an asylum, or tried as an accessory to his crimes.

Don't worry three years will straighten him out. What's the maximum amount of times you can get raped in three years? Take that number and double it, that's how many he will and because of what he's going to jail no one will really want to help him or be his friend. But still, I could agree with you that he could do more time, I mean raping two adolescents is seriously fucked, imagine what this is going to do to the kids mentally. Bad puns aside, I wonder how many of these kinds of cases the judge runs into that he doesn't consider it a very big deal anymore. Perhaps so many 16 year olds wild oats get the best of them that he considers it less a travesty and more a regrettable part of the human condition that, as a judge, he only feels justified levying heavy incentives against.

just because you're 16 years old doesn't mean you don't know the difference between right and wrong. some people can't be helped. even if he "just needs help" they should've gotten it to him after the first incident, forgiven or not.ShredHead said:

Texas has a unique prison where they spend the minimum amount on supplies for the prisoners so the state barely pays any taxes.
They make them wear pink underwear
They live in canvas tents under the hot Texas sun 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
they work for hours a day making big rocks into small rocks that are then sold by $3 a ton to local construction contractors saving the taxpayers even MORE millions of $$$ for highway upgrades.
They use outhouses and they get 3 cold showers a week (saves water and therefore the fish)
The food they get is the very notch above NFHC (Not For Human Consumption)
They only get water to drink.
and only the worst of the worst go to this prison.
not only that it saves the environment because they don't have air conditioners, or heaters, or lights (other than the security systems) and if a prisoner makes it over the fences, and through the "tangle foot" and through the barbed wire and over the car trap, and avoids being shot from the towers or the guards foot patrols then they have to figure out a way to survive in the desert.
Now that's a prison, if you guys don't want him get a reserved room, rapists are known to have a pretty low chance of surviving their stay in prison.
