Caim and Angelus in Drakengard 2
He's the hero of the first game but the second game changes protagonists and it turns out he's become the enemy. I know that you (as the player) don't kill him yourself, but fighting him was still really sad.
And then Angelus has just been driven mad and when you fight her, you DO have to kill her and then that ends up killing Caim and...it's a vicious depressing cycle. ;_;
