You ever go out on a limb, or see a game for really cheep and hear one or two good things about it, decide "Sure, why no?" buy it, and then have your would completely rocked by it?

I did, and it's called BlazBlue.

What was yours?
Same here! Got the special edition for $30 brand new about 4 months after it came out thanks to a clearance sale at Best Buy having never heard of the game before. Luckily, the friend I was with had, and he convinced me to give it a go. Fan-fucking-tastic fighting game. I don't think I've ever has so much fun with a fighting game since Super Smash Bros. Melee came out.

This deal also got me the Bioshock 2 collectors edition for $35. I love Best Buy.

I bought Tropico as an afterthought because I was getting bored of Civ3 (I still think 3's the weakest game in the Civ series). Turned out to be a top-five all-time classic.
Same, I bought it when it was on sale on Steam for $8 a week or so ago. I've already beat half of the campaign and have had a great time in the sandbox.

The campaign? I'm talking Tropico 1, not Tropico 3 (although 3 is good, it's not quite as good as 1, which it's a straight remake of.)

XIII on the Gamecube and the first Zone of the Enders for the PS2. I don't really remember where XIII came from, but I got Zone of the Enders from a Gamestop at the same time as We Love Katamari one day. I really didn't have anything to expect from the game aside from that I knew that the sequel was good.

I could have also said BlazBlue, but my cousin told me about it before I got it so I guess it doesn't count.

I wasn't going to play Saint's Row 2 because I tried the first one to fill in the gap until GTA4 came out and thought it was kind of crap.
I picked up SR2 during a games drought and I think it's still my favourite game this gen, though ask me another day and I might tell you Fallout 3 takes that title.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Sadly, my sister sister's whining made me switch my PS2 version for an Xbox version which wasn't compatible with my 360. Haven't been able to find a copy for the PS2 since.

Hurp de durp...numbers... Yeah, my mistake. I bought Tropico 3. I'll have to check out the first one should it come on sale too.

A lot of people hate it, but I like the simplistic monster-smashing-loot-gathering gameplay.

You can get the Tropico Reloaded pack (T1 and T2) for $10. Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is a nice diversion but it is the weakest game in the series...but then again, pirates! Arr! Yo ho ho!

Uncharted 2, yeah I know it's as mainstream as a game like this can get, but I really didn't think much of it because I wanted to be cool going against the machine...0o

The game is just freakin sweet!

=D

Someone tell me how Lost Odyssey for the 360 is, for some reason it feels like another surprise.

Rogue Galaxy, I loved it, the characters, worlds were pretty big and the combat was better then I thought it would be.

Story was a tad predictable, but hey, you get to be a space pirate.

Killing Floor was an incredible buy IMO, however I don't think I've ever had this happen to me at any other time... oh wait, Xtreme Xpress, World Grand Prix.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Best.
FPS.
I.
Have.
Played.

Seriously, the game rocked. It had a pretty good story. Awesome gameplay. Better gun customizations than MW2 or COD: 4. The voice acting was....well generic but that didn't detract from the awesomeness of it though.

It wasn't cheap when I bought it, but when I originally started playing Disgaea, it was because I just randomly decided to pick up 3. I loved the gameplay, but the story wasn't great or anything. I ended up playing the first one after that, and I loved the series ever since. I still say 3 has a weak story though (at least main game wise).
