Definitely Alone in the Dark. I was so hyped for that game but it turned out to be the biggest piece of shit ever.

Definitely Spore, but my biggest dissapointment of all has to be Pokemon:gold and silver versions.
After red & blue, you'd think that the second title would be even better, but it wasn't.
They cut so many corners, (No safari zone, No Sabrina gym, only the dojo, etc.) left so many bugs and glitches in game, and had so many unappealing features.

Kingdom Hearts 1. I played Kingdom Hearts 2 before I played KH1, and absolutely LOVED it. Heck, I STILL do. Still my favorite game of all time.

But, it seems that ALL the KH fans think that KH2 was absolutely terrible, and KH1 was infinitely better. Since I thought KH2 was the best game ever made, I took it as KH1 being a masterpiece crafted by God himself.

So, resolved, I bought KH1 for twelve bucks at Gamestop...and absolutely HATED it.

Really, the graphics were awful, the gameplay was dull, the combat was sluggish, and pre-pubescent Sora's voice sounded like my eardrums were being ripped out of their sockets by a pointed, cold steel claw coated in acid. And that's the nicest thing I could say.

Overall, KH1 taught me that 90% of Kingdom Hearts' fanbase are idiots with no taste. Not that I needed any proof of that, given the stuff you see on DeviantART...
Being a KH fanboy..... warning..... KH2 is based after the first, and Sora is older with a more mature voice. Also, the graphics in KH1 are worse because it came before KH2. (obviously). Of course the second is an improvement over the first, but the gameplay never became repetitive with the attachments and special moves that you can aquire in both games. Just a reminder, if you play a sequel before the original, the original will seem awful, i know from experience. (Oh, and i'd prepare a flame shield for more KH fanboys)
Well, the main reason I went for KH2 first was because I heard that KH2 was much easier than its predecessor. Being that I'm not very good at games, I opted to go for the easier one, and thoroughly enjoyed the romp through it.

Well, I'm not that picky about graphics, and looking back, I think I sounded overly mean in my post. The graphics are fine, but after the beautiful effects of KH2, KH1 just...lacked the spark. I get that it came before, so I'm not sure why I was so disappointed. I guess it was because the characters looked so different from their incarnations in KH2.

I still don't like KH1 Sora's voice, and nothing is going to change that.

In my opinion, the gameplay was marred by three things:
1) camera control. Having to use the L2 and R2 buttons was a pain, and you could only look around horizontally, not vertically, making it hard to judge jumps the game delights in. In fact, part of the reason I thought the gameplay was dull was because I spent what seemed like 20 tries on the same jumps in Deep Jungle, and it frustrated me to no end.
2) Odd use of the Command menu. I have no Idea why I struggled with this so much. It just felt...awkward. Having to push up on the right stick in the middle of a combo to use ars arcanum felt clumsy, but most of the time I tended to button mash. And watching Sora perform the constant down-stab-side swings of the keyblade got old really fast.
3) Lack of focus. For me, KH1 didn't feel like an action RPG. It felt like an action platformer with RPG bits.

Again, maybe I was too harsh on it. I guess KH2 just spoiled me. Whatever my excuse, I'm ashamed that my post was so filled with hatred, and I'm sorry if I insulted you with my fanbase comment.

Now if you'll excuse me...*puts up flame shield*

I agree completely, that 8 was far and away the worst of the two, to the point where I refused to complete the game because I felt deeply offended that I was suppose to buy into the dreck they were passing off as a "plot". The question posed by the OP was not about which game I hate most, or the worst game, if that were the case FF7 wouldn't have been mentioned, but the question was about being let down by a game. As gaming goes, nothing has ever disappointed me more than the impossibly shallow FF7. Compared to the previous FF6, 7 was an absolute joke.[/quote]

Odd I did what I have been doing since the 1st lord of the rings. I sat down, someone offered me a story and I said "Tell me the story..."

I oddly take things for what they are worth. If I get the 20 dollar Fist Full of Boomkstick I'm not expeecting the new Ultimate of our time, with 4 giant worlds, magic, and spaced rolled into one. I wanna see a game with Ash blowning zombies away with Bruce Campel quipping away.

I play resident evil not for scares, or even good plot. I play it for cheesy horror that it is, with a slice of first scare genius, and then moron puzzles to break the excitment wanted or no. For it's time, and hell the graphics world just leaving the Mario/Zelda 64 days of near sandbox bordom... I accepted it for what it was for the time. And oddly enjoyed it. But my friend thats many games and movies...

The Wizard of OZ, if you sit there yelling "This is Bullshit! Monkey's can't fly!" then your never going to be happy. And this was PS1 days and "cutting" edge so they say...

Some times we must accept what it is...and a good RPG then was pretty damn rare (no pun intended)

GTA 4, you do not make a series better by removing things to do, making the map smaller, and adding activities like taking your friends to dinner.

People who are just going(Game title) and then not saying anything makes it seemm like your little bit of a troll.

Spore- Don't get me wrong I had a blast creating stuff, But I certainly didn't have much fun playing around with it. It was also hyped so much I thought I was being presented the second comeing of christ.

Fallout - I'm still playing through this, the game really shocked me, I kinda didn't know what to expect. (If anyone would guide me to some good tips/manual of the game i'd be very much obliged)
The first playthrough of Fallout 3 is always a tough adventure, you just have to high ho silver line it until you get the hang of it

If you are talking about the original fallout.

Well... same thing.

Final Fantasy 7.

I'm not trolling. I played that game three times from start to finish, and every time I played it I did so trying to understand why others loved it so much, failing every time to do so. From it's silly tooting soundtrack, to it's brutally choppy battle frame-rate, to those Legoland characters wandering around on blurry postcards, I hate this game and everything it represents. Compared the previous masterpieces (term used loosely), this game was a gigantic step backward, and an exercise in pandering for the sake of popularizing a previously niche genre of gaming. Worse FF games have since come and gone, but as far as I am concerned this game is where it all began. Padded, nonsensical, ugly. I loathe FF8 even more than 7, but of all the games I've ever played, nothing has ever disappointed me as much as this game did.
I can understand why you would hate the graphics, I can understand why you would hate the combat system....but I cannot possibily understand how you can hate the soundtrack. FF7 was preety much Uematsu`s masterpiece and contains some of the most memorable songs in video gaming history. But perhaps you just dislike music made in MIDI format.

My personal biggest disappointment would be Modern Warfare 2. The irony is that it was not a disappointment for what it did do, but for what it did not do...you can preety much guess that I mean the lack of dedicated servers and mod support. I was so disappointed by the news that I refuse even to pirate the game, let alone buy it, even though I would love to try the singleplayer (although I heard plenty of bad things about it).

Up until MW2, I was the proud owner of the entire CoD collection for the PC. I guess I will have to miss out from now on (at least on MW2).

Far Cry 2

I was expecting Fallout 3 meets GTA in Africa.

I got... lots of endless driving.
This, MW2, and Red Alert 3. Farcry 2 for the same reasons you mentioned, shame, such a pretty game too, MW2 for the PC rape they did, I did end up playing it on 360 and I felt dirty after trying to play a fast paced fps with a controller, not to mention that theres really nothing new in the game, its a very expensive expansion, and Red Alert 3 because I loved RA2, and I was totally geeked for the third, and it just plain ole felt weird.
