The Coolest Ending to a Video game. (Classic or Current) [SPOILERS]

The planned fallout 3 ending from the orginal creators. you were supposed to be on an orbital station with 24 nukes. once you beat the main antagonist ( scientist hel-bent on releasing a biological agent to clean the world of all the filth left by the war) you could nuke all of the world and send the earth back another 10000 years. That would have been an epic ending. but because it was never released i have to go with the alien campign from avp 2 for the pc where you free your queen and trap the synth that destroyed your hive, just desserts at its finest.

Warcraft II was epic straight through.
Half-Life 2 was damned nice.
The original KotOR reeked of awesome. That game also contained one of my most memorable moments in a game ever:

Edit: I'll add Portal and Diablo II to the list. It's hard to pick a favorite.

When I was on Korriban, I chose to trick the two Sith vying for control of the Sith academy that I would help both of them kill their rival. When it came to the final confrontation, both of them expected my help. Instead I chose the option "I am tired of you Sith scum. You both die!", killed them both in a 2vs1 and the proceeded to depopulate the entire Sith academy. My epeen has never been so inflated. Good times.

i really liked the light side ending of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I know people claim its a mediocre game but i really liked it and that lightning fexplosiony fight bit was damned epic
I much preferred any of the endings where you saw Jack in Bloodlines. That is my favorite ending to any game, ever. Fucking hilarious. I love a game that doesn't take itself too seriously.mannsporte said:

I generally like endings with some nice twists you absolutely don't expect: e.g. the endings of Metal Gear Solid 3, Braid and Monkey Island 2.
I'm also one of the few people who actually liked the ending (and cutscenes and gameplay leading before it) of MGS2. Wheter you loved, hated, or were just being confused by it, nobody can deny it was memorable.

007 Nightfire. Spoiler ahead! The final level has you battling it out in zero gravity outside a sace station. You get to use the game's most awesome weapon (samurai- it fires lasers and has an overcharge ability and has a scope!)against the boss who was an absolute dick. Also, you're being shot at by other guys wielding the samurai as well. You have to kill them and fly around stopping nukes from firing off into the Earth. Then after you kill everyone and stop the nukes, you fly away in an escape pod has the station epically blows up! Then, because you play as bond, it ends with you having an under water date with a really hot chick in Bond's car! How awesome is that?!?!
I am old school. The end of Contra still pleases me. You fly away from the island in a helicopter and it writes out that:
You have destroyed the vile Red Falcon and saved the universe. Consider yourself a hero.
I still beat it once in a while and I smile when I read that.
