Okay, I loved morrowind. And I just recently got Oblivion and have been playing thorough.

So then...

1. Every mages guild should have a spellmaking altar and an enchanter. (no enchant altar. Enchant should be a skill like it was in morrowind. Where the more complex the enchantment the less chance of it working. Also enchanted items recharge over time. If not it shouldn't be 1 gold per charge. It should be 1 gold per 10 charges. So it costs 100 gold to recharge my sword. Not 1000.)

2. Stat based advancement in factions. You should have to actually level up your abilities before you can become the grey fox or archmage. No tutorial dungeon. In morrowind the tutorial was two rooms. Dungeons suck ass when you haven't even chosen your class yet.

3. DO NOT START THE MAIN QUEST IN THE TUTORIAL!!! That was the lamest thing about Oblivion, that the main quest started right away whether you want it to or not. In Morrowind you could completely ignore the main quest.

4. Reduce level scaling. Some areas should have stronger enemies all the time. A bandit camp should always have bandits. If you go there at level one there should not be mudcrabs and rats in the bandit camp and no bandits. Some loot should be in place all the time.

5. Esoteric weapons and armor. In morrowind I liked to get the Redoran watchmen's helm. It was a mushroom head. I thought that was awesome. It didn't match anything else in the game, and that was okay. Not every suit of armor has to be complete. But more variety of armor would be great. On that note bring back medium armor. Morrowind has so many more varieties of armor than oblivion. Bring that back.

6. The character generation sliders should not affect other sliders. It really messes with fine control if every time you touch one slider half the others move as well. Let us move different features individually without affecting the rest of the features too drastically.

7. Change the menus back to how morrowind was. Where the inventory shows 50 items at a time instead of six. And you can drop quest items. (in the final thieves guild quest I found the arrow of extrication after opening the door with it and picked it up. couldn't drop it or fire it again. It just sat in my inventory.)

8. Give us the ability to delete spells. I can't count the number of times I've messed up a spell only to find out later and then not be able to get rid of it even though it is useless. Like Heal 25 pts on touch, instead of on self. LET US DELETE THEM.

9. Bring back the unarmored skill, make shield spells last longer for the same amount of mana. Mana costs should increase less the higher you go, not more. As you get to the higher level spells they should only cost 1.5 times as much mana for 2 times as much power. Magic in Oblivion is only useful in the lower levels when your willpower regeneration is actually worth it.

10. Birthsign increases to mana are supposed to be either +1.5 * int, +1 * int, or +.5 * int. An increase of 50, 100, or 150 doesn't work once you level up high enough that spells cost 350 mana, because then that is the highest amount of mana you can get. As your intelligence increases you birthsign bonus should also increase. Spells take too much mana at higher levels to actually be useable.

11. Repair hammers and lockpicks should have a number of uses, not a hit or miss system. It sucks to have ten repair hammers and low armorer skill only to break every single one trying to repair your first piece of armor. Likewise failure should not break a lockpick, only lower durability. On that note NO MINIGAME!!! The minigame is stupid and illogical, why does time freeze whenever you try to pick a lock no matter how many you use.

12. Make speechcraft worthwhile again. No minigame, and you can choose which kind of speechcraft to use, not be forced to use them all at once every time. Using intimidate successfully should raise their disposition and make them not attack you. using Admire successfully should just raise disposition. Using Taunt successfully should make them attack you, without giving you a bounty. And of course bribe will just be a high success way of raising disposition. but make it more logical increments. Like bribe 10 gold, or 100 gold. Not bribe 7 for 13 bonus, bribe 12 for 7 bonus. You shouldn't know how much it is going to give you. AND DISPOSITION IS NEVER MAXED!! You should be able to keep bribing no matter what.

13. More variety in the caves. I swear to god every cave in Oblivion is exactly the same. They all have that stupid platform with the beam of light and same stupid three stalagmites. Bring back daedric and dwemer ruins along with the Ayelid.

14. Make the Daedroth skinny again. Now they look more like an Alit with arms than a sinister crocodile demon. In morrowind they looked scary and evil and could shoot poison. In Oblivion they look bloated and stupid. Scamps are supposed to be pathetic. No fire balls. Make dremora less pouty. They looked much cooler in Morrowind.

15. IF IT ISN'T NAILED DOWN I SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOOT IT. I hate in the beginning that they keep confronting you with dead Blades and you can't take their armor. The other guys left, what's keeping me from taking Captain Renaults swanky gear. Same with Dremora, if you aren't going to make their armor part of their bodies then I should be able to loot it. In morrowind the dremora look like they are wearing daedric armor which is fused into their skin. In oblivion it looks like they are wearing actual armor, because they are.

16. More adventurers!! Why am i the only person in the world going out and stealing all the awesome loot? Better yet give the option to team up with other adventurers.

17. Merchants should have a set amount of gold that is kept somewhere in the shop. If you sell them things the amount of gold they have should go down, if you buy something it goes up. Also bring back morrowind bartering where you can buy and sells lots of stuff at the same time and use the cost of the things your selling to offset the cost of what your buying. Like selling a daedric weapon for 40000 gold then buying armor worht 39000 gold so you get 1000 gold. That way you can actually sell the higher level gear for what it's worth. No more merchant price caps at 6000 gold.

18. Make the underwear less ugly!! It doesn't have to be super sexified. But please no more giant diapers. You would think someone would learn to sew unerwear out of fabric instead of untanned bear hides.

Pretty much all I want to keep from oblivion is...

-better graphics.
-spellcasting while holding a weapon
-Block

And that's it. That is all that I can think of in Oblivion that is worth keeping. The only changes that it made that were good. Everything else should feel free to revert back to the Morrowind system.

last thing, set it somewhere new and interesting. Like Black Marsh, or Elsweyr.

The reason (I assume) Bethesda chose the minigame for lockpicking is that unless you were skilled in it, you were screwed in the higher levels where every chest is hard or very hard. They made the minigame so warriors or RPers who don't want security or alteration don't have to take it, but still be able to open locks. I suppose they could could implement a lockbashing system like KOTOR except without the loot damage.

how about having the ability to make fires. and the best way to repair your armor was to heat it up over the fire then hammer out the imperfections. also being able to make your own armor, and being able to experiment with different materials. like combining leather (from skinned animals, I forgot to mention I want skinning) with fish scales (from fish of course) to create a new type of scaly looking armor. How awesome would that be?

All the Good of Morrowind
1. Awesome main quest and expansions
2. Diverse landscapes
3. Morrowind made you feel like you were and outsider, I want the NPC's to give a damn
4. Levitation
5. Long Blade, Short Blade, Axe, Spear, Medium Armor, Unarmored, Mysticism didn't suck, crossbows, darts, shurikens etc.
6. Great Houses/Temple/Legion/Imperial Chapel
All the good of Oblivion
1. Visuals
2. Block button
3. Magic and Enchanting were easy to use
4. Skill perks
Some things that want/could be fixed
1. No scaling loot and enemies (Different level areas)
2. Control the shield bash
3. Maybe a hand reaching out to grab something instead of the lame hovering in front of you thing
4. A decent 3rd person perspective
5. Make archery and magic as powerful as melee
6. Regional damage, arrows to face shouldn't do the same as arrows to the leg
7. Let us gild our weapons and armor with the minerals and gems found throughout the world
8. Better/more guilds
9. NPC's I could give a damn about
10. Romance
11. Ability to beat the game as a pure spellcaster, or pure rogue/theif. Higher level oblivions kicked my ass on my thief
12. Keep the fast travel
13. Lycanthropy was kick ass/make vampires more desirable
14. More than one quest for each deaedric lord/ quests for each of the nine
15. More armors and weapons. The armors fit with the game, but could you recolor the weapons/armor, or have some weapons/armor designed visually for darker characters w/ spikes, horns etc. Armors/weapons for more heroic characters w/ shiny/reflective finishes
16. Make hand to hand useful in combat, maybe make gloves have a damage rating
17. Adorn weapons and armor with the many teeth found ingame
18. The races hold the weapons differently. If redgaurds are so good with the blade, why does a redgaurd in combat look like a wood elf in combat? Different fighting styles maybe, or if you suck at blade, your actions are erratic and jerky, while if you are a master, your attacks are graceful and pinpoint accurate

And another word on the fast travel,I seem to be the only one who exercised the magic ability to not use it.
Sorry for the long post, I just have alot to say about this series. and I can't wait for Fallout.
i so wish that you were on the dev team for tes5.
1)the cousins and others try to claim the throne.... also high chancellor ocato, bastard that he is, eyes the throne himself.
so the character, who is not a prisoner this time, just for a change, can go to any of these people and join their house, bit of like in morrowind, and then you can also join other houses at the same time, and advance through them and finally sort of decide who gets to be the next king by assassinating guys you don't like and so on...
2)imperial forts in morrowind were mostly places you were relieved to find yourself at... in oblivion all forts are always abandoned...
3) a quick travel between cities and a mark recall spell that has limited range that increases with your mastery of the school, making mysticism actually useful, even if you have umbra and some life detect enchantments...
4) a few more slots of armor, at least the ability to put on robes above your armor, if not the clothes below... robes would probably be worn above something else no??
5) branching guild quests.... or at least a few more quests...
6) people's disposition affected by the armor you're wearing... why if you're jumping around the imperial city with 100+ fortified speed, athletics and acrobatics, while wearing the dark brotherhood armor, it should atleast piss off a few guards no? or if you're walking down in imperial dragon armor, the champion of cyrodill, it should net you a little bit of extra discount at the shops....
7) at least the option to decide if i want the npc's to give quests in text or in voice-acting, i was always skipping their dialogues, except for sheogorath of course....
8) more types of weapon and armor please... i know a lot of people have already mentioned it and a lot of mods are always available, but still morrowind had like a million times more stuff than oblivion...
9) i would settle for a bit less visual fidelity, if i have a bit more of everything else....
10) motion captured animation.... if they don't use it already... the 3rd person camera view is just weird...
11) overpowered weapons that have almost impossible quests to get them, like the razor, only way more overpowered, like a bow that does all sorts of elemental damage over 50 feet, damages health, fatigue, attributes, drains them, and finally absorbs them...
12) finally make it impossible to do all the quests in a single playthrough.

you could in oblivion, and I hated that. taking certain quests should close doors for some other quests. and certain guilds should be inaccessible if you join a rival guild.

since i have not really been thinking about anything else, i have another idea....
> the game is set on the Akaviri continent, which has never been explored and there are very few facts about.
the advantages:
1. new races, the tsaesci, the monkey men, the tiger men and whatever else.
2. all kinds of distinct crazy ass environments, since akavir is largely unexplored, everything would be acceptable.
3. akaviri katanas that don't require a lot of hard work to get.
4. new shrines and more importantly, new artifacts from the gods of the akaviris.
5. they can just say that you're an adventurer from tamriel(if you choose a classic race) or different start if you play as one of the new races....
6. half girl-half snakes would be sexier than chicks with tiger heads or argonians who just look funny...
7. also after oblivion there cannot really be that dire a catastrophe facing tamriel, in which case tamriel is just not loved enough by the gods, but here the devs can just go crazy with everything, sort of like in morrowind, in which i think that they had a lot more freedom, i mean daedric katanas and the crescent blade, cmon whatever happened to those?

I'd like to see a difficulty slider that isn't stupid.
Currently when you slide it to hard mode the enemy becomes 6x stronger and you become 6x weaker, meaning the only legitimate way to win is to use a lot of illusion and conjuration tricks.
Whereas on normal mode even boss characters die after a few spells/melee attacks.
Why can we not just have the enemy become 6x stronger and you staying as you are, making for more challenging "epic" battles.

Try not sliding it all the way to the right. Find a setting that suits the balance that you want and need. As far as difficulty's concerned, they've balanced it beautifully by letting the user set it to exactly how they prefer.

if they want to fix the fast travel they should make it so you need to do some 15 part quest to gain some magical amulet that you can only use once a day even then you have to visit the city you want to fast travel to then pay a level determined amount of cash depending on the city and only being able to go between citys.

and more voice actors

Something I'd like to see in the next game is how the Lore is handled, if it's fixed again or if they decide to break it further. I'd post some examples, but I'd need some pretty huge spoiler tags for it.

1) LESS voice actors. Think about it. With less voice actors you can have more diverse and induvidual actors, with more diverse and induvidual speech.

2) bring back crossbows and throwing knives, although make it so that you can attempt to rip the bolts/ammo out of the target, with a chance of it breaking and not getting it back

3) more guilds- beggars guild, merchants guild, bandit guild (which would mean you skirmishing with other bandits to get territory and extra followers) and necromancers guild (anti-mages guild)

4) guild warfare- leading the mages or fighters guild to a war against the bandits or thieves would be epic, as would uniting the fighters and mages guild into one world power

5) bring back the ability to join the legion!

6) keep the same races. don't spoil my immersion

7) horse combat, but make it less accurate/powerful so that it doesn't kill all point of not riding

8) change the story through choices. If the player chooses to help overthrow the empire, so be it.

9) GET RID OF ESSENTIAL/UNKILLABLE NPC's! I don't care if I "break the thread" of whatever by killing someone, I should be able to do it

10) No psychic guards. If I make a kill in a house and leave unseen, then I expect a legion presence outside the house when/if the body is found.

11) NPC's should get annoyed when I relieve them of all their stuff in the middle of the night. I expect shop owners to be at least sad when they have nothing to sell because I nicked it previous night... and get suspicious when I sell it back

that's all I can be arsed with atm... more later

A few thoughts:

Game play: I think that there should be opposing sides with guilds and quests to match. They kind of had this on Elder Scroll 3, when you couldn't join opposing guilds and certain guilds were against others. It would have been cool to be a necromancer especially since I had everything in order to be one including a high infamy level. Also, it sucks that guards should automatically know that you stole something, if anything maybe a guard that caught you in another city should follow you, or maybe they could have a warrant out for your arrest and place them in the cities. Also, maybe when you become an expert at something a shop keeper could hire you and pay you to do certain jobs every week.

Magic: I like the spells in Oblivion...maybe they should not only allow you to move items with telekenesis, but maybe allow you to attack and kill your opponent with it, kind of like a jedi type thing. Also if there were an alteration spell that allowed the player to walk through walls or allow arrows and swords to pass through you...but only at a very high level.

Characters: I think maybe they should allow more freedom with the character detail, like allowing us to make a character in between 4'0 and 6'7"...also they should be created on a continuum of extremely skinny to muscular to obese. Also for certain characters like the Khajiit they should allow you to make them look almost human except for the eyes, ears, nose, and tail..then have basic skins like stripes, spots, and regular fur then allow to choose colors, so you could make a thin Khajitt female that looks like a tiger with long flowing hair, or a Khajitt male that looks like a panther and has no extra hair only regular black fur. Imagine a tall, muscular, green Argonian looking like the Lizard off of Spiderman..to do this bald should be an option for all races, and allow many color variations for each skin...Imagine a human sized elf, or a midget nord, lol..Also if a character becomes a vampire, let them look the same if the drink blood, but become monsters only if they don't feed.

Items: I would like more two-handed items. Also I would like them to add more varity to clothing, so far most of all items look like the english versions of things, it would be cool to be able to have some asian and native influences, such as kamodos, or fur two pieces. It would be awesome to make a female khajitt with a fur two piece, and raise acrobatics to make a huntress or something...anyhow...

other: it should be possible to at least fire and arrow from horseback...

First of all I want the game to be in morrowind scale of size ie much bigger

second more voice actors (i mean a game oblivion's size needs at least 30 voice actors)

third: access to the entirety of Tamriel

fourth, I would like more (much more) variety in the dungeons that either morrowind or oblivion

more (again much more) items

new physics engine

more weapon classes (spears, dual wield, ect.)

Epic wars and huge battles

dynamic dungeons, wars, and politics

no "magic crystal teleportation"

delve deeper into the history of Tamriel

Ability to change the music with custom tracks for fighting encounters, indoors, outside, and maybe other areas.

I liked being able to rip the Morrowind and Guild Wars soundtrack and play it on the Xbox, but you could not replace the specific music for specific areas. I suppose you PC folks had that ability all along.

An original plot for once would be nice. None of this "save the world from great evil again!" bull. How about trying to get me emotionally attached to the characters instead of killing them off like sacrificial lambs?

Also, better voice acting.

HA I KNOW IT!!!!! You see??? I posted a thread about guys like this, but all I got was "your a social tool" and "your an idiot" BUT HERES PROOF!!!

And we are not tards! Go back to your Runescape and World of Warcraft you fuck knuckle.
Here's the problem with a TES MMO: There would be no end game. Why? Because what do you do in TES? You run around and perform quests and randomly explore things. There's no incentive to play because there's no reward.

What does WoW have? A deeper character development than TES, (although within the confines of the class you chose.) an endgame, a huge world to explore, (bigger than Morrowind and Oblivion put together, actually, and it's getting bigger in the expansion.) player vs player combat--which is admittedly flawed, but the only criteria to win in TES is to know how to press the block button.

Do you see my point? The format doesn't work for an MMO. It's perfect for a single player game, but as an mmo? Hell no. There would be no group content, no end game, no...I already covered about all of it.
