Do you think you could do a cover of anything by In Flames?
That would be incredible.
That sounds like a nice challenge. I will notify you on completion. Just note that it might take a while.

Weell, I would love to put the video itself on here, but... I have no idea how. I will, however copypasta the URL if you care to look through. This was the opening song of my first band's first show at a school charity concert. I'm the bassist/vocalist dude. You can also shop around the vides in the More From This user sorta section for the rest of the set. And any problems you might pick, I know about already.

I've got a few tunes on Soundclick.com as audio. Has anyone worked out audio links, cos I haven't quite cracked it all yet.

If anyone fancies a listen, I've got a cover of YYZ by Rush, Surfing With the Alien by Joe Satriani, and a few other things rock/jazz/country/classical/dance that are my own compositions.

Any comments are welcome, but help with links would be really great!

Anyway, here's a link to the soundclick page: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=93481

These sound absolutely brilliant! What did you use to record 'em? You have some serious guitar skill.

Awesome! I love that song soooooo much! I'm very impressed! Plus you're our first saxophone player on here, and it's nice to hear something other than guitars and my plinky piano playing.

Thanks, Sexual Harassement Panda. (top SP episode, by the way)

I play a Fender lonestar fat-strat for most stuff, but I used an Ibanez JS 1000 for Surfing with the Alien, and a Takamine EG-10 for the acoustic tunes. - Everything was recorded just using my PC with Cool Edit Pro and a Line 6 Pod XT in through the USB.

I dunno about serious guitar skill, but thanks for having a listen. :)

I am so jealous of your guitar.
BC Rich Warlock.
Nice.
Good job on the music, too, but I really really had to tell you how jealous I am of you right now.
I almost got a Warlock this summer, then realized I was broke and couldn't spend any extra money.

Holy shunt, man.
Thank god for spur of the moment-ness.
That was super intense. And awesome.
I saw Skynyrd this summer (well, their one surviving original member with a bunch of new people) and I can honestly say your cover is really, really good.
Bravo.

You said you wanted some feedback... Sooo...
A few things: (You're learning these on your own, yeah?)

-You may want to even out your tempo a little bit, sometimes things get choppy. I understand some things might get changed over with the camera phone, but still, just be aware. I still have problems with tempo sometimes. (minuet in G minor also goes a little bit faster than that, and watch out for some pauses you seem to be adding in in extra places.)

-In some of your earlier posts, you don't seem to be using your pinky much, I know that depends on the song and whether it seems like viable fingering to use, but watch you don't completely ignore your pinky, otherwise your other fingers will get strong, but your pinky will stay weak, and it will negatively impact your playing later on.

-Also, is there any way in your next videos we might get to see your left hand, more? Have the camera at the other end? I tend to favour songs with heavier chords in the left hand, so I find it would be interesting to see how you're doing.

In all, good job.
I'm much impressed.
In fact, that goes for everyone:
You should all be proud.

I, myself, play piano and have for ten years, but I lack the want to put a video proof of myself up on the internet. Sorry.
Oh, and the new OP is very convenient and helpful. Thanks, Inverse and Bob!

Yeah prettymuch. I get lessons once a week (they only go for half hour) and they are useful, but a lot of the things I have to work on just come naturally with practice. Oh the tempo issues! I always seem to struggle with that. I have a friend who thinks the way I play Eyes on Me is just weird because I play it with a completely different tempo to him. The gaps thing is usually me struggling to get my hands in position for the next bar, it's just something that will be ironed out with practice.

The pinky is an interesting point though, I wasn't aware that I was ignoring it in favour of my other fingers. This admittedly seems very likely as it's a lot easier to play pieces with more dominant fingers taking control. I'll (finally!) be getting my violin next week, and that will involve a lot of work with the pinky, so perhaps by practicing it those sorts of things will come across with the piano as well? Still thanks for the advice, it's interesting to note that.

Yeah, the left hand will be fine. All I'll do is put the camera on the other end of the piano! Would you like to see any of these pieces redone with that left hand?

Thanks for the feedback, it's always good to hear from someone who's been playing the thing for ages!

Don't worry, everyone struggles with tempo. I, for one, seem to hate dotted eighth notes. Don't know why. Just make sure you practice with a metronome sometimes (I'm so hypocritical for saying this!) because then you'll be forced to stay the same speed. They are annoying as hell, but it helps.

Yeah, it's not always the pinky, so just become aware of which fingers you seem to favour, and try to work on the other ones. I know for me I don't like using my fourth finger as much, though I'm getting better with it, so it's all turning out well in the end.

And no, I don't think there is any particular one that's already up that I wish to see with the left hand, just for some in the future, it would be nice. Thanks!

Also, are you doing any sort of warm up before you work on your pieces? Scales, or sight reading, or small excersizes? They really help strengthen your fingers and getting you used to finding notes more easily when you first play the pieces. (More hypo-criticalness!) I hate them, but they are practical and useful, so as much as I try to avoid them, I know they do some good...

I think every student hates scales and metronomes with a passion, even though I know they're so good for me! I don't practice either as often as I should to be honest. I probably should start off with some scales or something to work on before I go in for a good practice session, it would be of benefit to me.

My tutor did suggest a metronome for me to help with the tempo issues, and Berethond did put up a free one on here a few pages back... might be worth checking out.

Hahaha! I love your hypocriticalness! But I understand... no-one wants to do scales or metronome work!...

I used to have major, major issues with dotted eighths. I fixed it by playing it with a metronome set for triplets, at about 100 BPM, and tying the first two together. (It's the same thing rhythmically.)

And I like to compare scales to eating vegetables for your instrument. They're important, but not always tasty.

Well, I don't think any of these songs are going to be planned out ahead of time, because this was(yet again) another spur at the last minute. Yes, my singing is crap, but believe me when I say it's not the worst that I've done. This time, my brother is getting a chance to play a solo, besides, I was just wanting to play on my new acoustic anyway.

The reason why these songs come at the last minute is because I really don't know what I'm going to play for each week. I was originally going to do a Peter Frampton song with my acoustic, but I thought it could wait. Anyways, please enjoy!

Your new acoustic sounds very nice! I have a slight request... could you possibly do Wish you Were Here on your acoustic? Man oh man that would be fantastic, the opening to that is very nice. Your singing is heaps better than mine as well, I wouldn't worry about that.
