im going to be republic because in cannon the good guys always win
I think you mean 'canon'. Besides, what about episodes III and V? Also, winning doesn't really apply to a persistent world MMOG, does it?

If it's even vaguely possible, I'll end up playing both. They CLAIM SW:TOR is going to be a story-based game, and I've always been a story-junkie, so....

I think it's fatal flaw is that it completely ignores the KoTOR series, KoTOR 2 especially. It's most glaringly obvious in the trailer when it talks about how Revan met the Sith Empire in the outer regions. Anyone who's played KoTOR 2 will know that that's bullshit because when you talk to Kreia about Revan, she says that Revan 'met no Sith Empire yet learned their teachings'. I just refuse to accept this one as canon, the same way I find that Star Trek Online's "plot" is just a contrived excuse to have you killing every red blip on sensors, no questions asked.
I know what piece of dialouge you're talking about, Kreia says that Revan does not meet the Sith Empire BEFORE his attack on the republic in KOTOR. How would she know if he didn't meet the Empire after his departure into deep space after KOTOR? Which is what the trailer says.

You sir have forgotten about the republic trooper, the ranged tank whos attacks are basically just shoot everyone, throw sticky grenade, n00b tube, and hit you with butt of gun.

other then that i prefer to be on the out numbered side, just means more of you for me too shoot.

Most ACTUAL true-blue Star Wars fans actually tend to lean towards either more interesting, morally ambiguous characters (Boba Fett, Han Solo) and the good guys (Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker).

That being said, we all know that people love Darth Vader (NOT Hayden Christensen GODAMMIT) and that Darth Maul was one of the only good parts of TPM.

So, in general, I'd look at the Jedi Knight, Bounty Hunter, and Smuggler for fans who have been around for a while. For the angsty little bastards, there will be your Sith Warriors and Inquisitors.

Now, for the power-gamers, I turn your attention to the Sith Agent. The class that gets a cloaking field, orbital bombardments, AND a SNIPER RIFLE. They basically just turned WoW Rogue to 11 on this one...

Regardless, I'm making one character for each class...at LEAST one, because each class branches off into specialties after a bit, in BioWare fashion. So...gotta experience it all...

But at last the Jedis always win. And they have Master Yoda.

Also, they mostly only interfere with matters vital for the Republic. And wherever they go in the Repblic they are instantly in command over any local police or military forces, kinda like the RCMP, but extended to war situations too.
Jedi and Sith both win on different occasions, such is the fate of the Star Wars universe; when one party is too dominant the Force will favour the other to ensure a new period of balance (hence the prophecy that Anakin would bring balance to the Force; he did, just not the way the Jedi liked it). That can be either Sith or Jedi. Actually, in the case of SW:TOR the Force should be in favour of the Sith.

Also, I never got the fandom of Joda. If you look at his 'wisdom' more closely it doesn't make that much sense, plus Luke at one point ignored him and turned out alright. He was pretty badass in the prequels, being a general and an overall useful character, but in the original trilogy he's just a gnomish hermit.

And at least the RCMP have awesome uniforms. Fiery red 'for the win.'
Aw, but the ludicrous mad "original" Yoda was cute.

I'm not sure when the game is actually set anyway. Before or after Revan? Or during her regency?

YOU CAN BE A BOUNTY HUNTER!?
Yup! They're on the Sith side, their equivalent of the Trooper - aka, frontline Class, with all the fun abilities (arm rockets, flamethrowers, ect).

I'm planning on being a Bounty Hunter myself.
And of course, jetpacks ;)

I'm assuming the downside to playing as a jedi is the same as playing a mage in WoW: No access to proper armor. And people would be allowed to make multiple characters right?

As much as I want to play an Inquisitor, Drew Karpyshyn is writing the Jedi Knight's story. If you don't know, he wrote the Darth Bane novels. They're the origin of

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me."

So I trust that dark side choices versus light side choices will be less of a evil versus good dynamic and something more interesting. Harwick seems like a good writer, but I'm not sure if she'll be able to pull off subjective morality in choices as well as Drew will. So my first character will probably be a Knight.

Let's face it, everyone is going to be Sith. We can either embrace this fact or fight a losing battle.

My personal plan to stop all the Sith roleplay will be my char Darth Fluffykittens.
Nope. Plenty of people on TOR forums are going to be Light Side. Your fatal flaw is not a flaw, nor fatal. It's just stupid.
lol but why u mad?

seriously man, look at all the other comments nobody felt the need to insult anyone else, come back when you can have a civil discussion.

That's the fatal flaw? Not that it's just WoW with dialog options that are clearly going to be cut-down versions of Mass Effect's?

C'mon guys it's true, usually people overwhelmingly want to be the badass bad guy.

It's the reason why we get so many user names called ShadowAssassin, KillerReaper, DeathStrike, EvilDestroyer and variations of those.

It's going to be even worse in TOR where practically everyone has theorised what their Darth name would be, luckily there'll only be one "Darth Assassin" per server.
I apologize if anyone's already said this, but according to the most recent (as of right now) question of the day, there's an overwhelming vote for being the good guy rather then being the bad guy in games.

Or as whats his face suggested in one of his columns on this magazine there exists a culture or guilt within our society that makes the vast majority of people uncomfortable with being douche bags, even in games.

If I pick up TOR I'd likely roll a smuggler first, maybe a bounty hunter later.

What's more likely is that a certain type of person will play Sith and a certain type of person will play Republic. If it's anything like WAR, all the kiddies will play the bad guys and all the well-organised clans/guilds will hop on as good guys.

I myself have taken a fancy to the Consular, so no Sith for me.
