BECAUSE IT IS SHIT!
Woah woah woah woah, if I wasn't allowed to get away contesting that Deus Ex was "undeniably good", there's no way I'm letting you get away with saying that.

X might not be my favourite. But it is a cute romance and religio-political story. And a fairly solid one. There are places that it doesn't excel, but it's a fairly well done game that isn't lacking in any particular important areas.

I got no problems with it. For one, I liked the game and wouldn't mind going through it again. Also, upgraded a game's visuals to HD (like they did with the first 2 God of War games) is not the same as completely rebuilding a game from the ground up, like they'd have to do with FF7. So no, I'm not mad that they're doing this instead of a 7 remake (which I think would be a mistake anyways).

Is it just the graphics? Or will the voices be getting some work done too?

I ask because if they can fix this:

Then I shall be glad to buy the game again.

In my opinion, Final Fantasy X would have been alright if the writers and designers were all arrested for whatever drugs they were taking and someone with actual talent and who gave two shits was brought on. There was just no sense or discipline in anything that appeared in that fucking game, and the ending which seemed to imply all the events were some sort of dream is something that seems endemic to poorly put together crap. And VII is also hideously overrated. It actually marked when Square's standards began to slip, when it focused more on stupid spectacle than anything memorable. The only reason i remember Aeris being killed is because i thought Sephiroth should have murdered that whiny emo ***** Cloud.

But i digress. I don't think any Final Fantasy X HD remake is a good move. Square Enix needs to dive a little deeper into their well and put out a game that speaks back to the time when they had talent and weren't stupid enough to try and make spin-offs, preferably back to their steampunk setting rather than the Star Wars ripoffs.

Well, the villain does look like this:

Let's just say that gamers who haven't played it before won't be impressed.
I love it when you can instantly tell who hasn't played far in a certain game. Not going to say much here but the real villain is a bit more impressive (and no, it wasn't the goddamn whale).

That wasn't it at all. Hell, they spend a lot of time talking about what exactly the dream twist is and what that means to the main characters, so it's kind of surprising that you could get that confused.

The main character and his father are all part of a collective dream made by those powerful godlike beings who were tricked by the main villain to form his bullshit religion in order to control the world by having it lay out rules on how exactly one could be saved (all of which put the world further into his control). Not only were they used to help keep his own personal devil alive, but they also helped solidify the summoners' power (who already controlled whether or not you were able to pass on or if you got to come back as a monster to kill those you love).
The reason you and your dad were made was so that they could control the next incarnation of the villain's giant monster and so that you would be raised in a way that would make you break the tradition that kept the cycle going (as well as making both of you strong enough for the trip). By doing this, they made it so you would kill both Sin and the true villain for good by waking them up (cutting off the source of his power).
This meant that your very existence was destroyed. That whole ending where they're talking about the dream ending is referring to your life (and possibly your soul) as you were just the fabrication of man made gods meant to free them.

I would buy this Re-make if I even had a PS3. Sadly I don't, and never want to spend money on it. But if the opportunity comes about I would definitely give it a go on a friends system.

And I wish people would stop bitching about FFX getting done instead of FFVII, they are Square Enix's games, they can do what the fuck they like. Move on.

'FFX was the most shitty piece of shit that I ever played ever'... in your opinion sir, in your opinion.

I loved Final Fantasy X, quite a lot. Infact I'd say it's one of my favorite PS2 games, right up with the Sly Cooper series. It'll be quite interesting to see this FFX remake.

Did you hear the news? FFX is getting remastered!
Where did people get the idea this is a remaster? Its a full on remake in HD.

Only the cutscenes and the backgrounds are remastered, everything else is remade from the ground up using the new engine.
I loved the FFX battle system, too. And this worries me a little. Please tell me they aren't going to replace FFX's battle system with FFXIII's. T___T(I can't access that link, for some reason it gives me an error)

I'd be happy with a X or VII remaster/remake. X and XIII are my favorite in the series, so I'd probably buy it. I've only played a bit of VII, and it could do with a whole new remake. I'd definitely buy that, since I haven't played much of it. Then again, I'd equally like a whole new Final Fantasy.

Heh, I'm aboard that train. I really enjoyd the combat in X and when I think of the 'press 'A' to beat the game system of XIII I cringe in fear of a replacement.

I do like the idea of a FFX HD remaster. I'm a big proponent of HDing awesome games from last gen, like Resident Evil 4, the god of War series, but I think they could go even farther. Take some of the ideas from even farther back and give them the ol' current-gen polish. Like the much-desired FFVII redo. As much as I'd enjoy an HD X, a remade VII would be just perfect.

What I always found odd about the FFVII remake possibilities is that, from an idea standpoint, everything's there. They don't have to imagine heroes, locales, spells, statistics, Materia, summons, plot twists. This might be a minor concern, but the entire puzzle is right there for the reimagining.

Besides, people can honestly put up the comment of "it's take hundreds of millions of dollars and ten years to remake", while they sit there and make XIII, Versus XIII, Agito XIII(Type-0), XIII-2, and a possible rumored XIII-3, when they could've spent that money and manpower for an awesome current-gen VII, which would sell just as much...no, better, than all of those titles combined. Hell, even if it was PS3-exclusive (it'd almost have to be), I'd break my 360-only stance just to grab a remade VII.

In your defense, Human Revolution is pretty god damn solid.
The "places it doesn't excel" is literally everything besides the soundtrack, the battle system, and the equipment system. And arguably the voice acting, but, y'know . . . "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!". Ugh.

We of course all realise what is implied by a 'remaster' right?

We're all aware of how in the past people have 'remastered' stuff like the God of War franchise and everything made by Team Ico.

They're not re-doing it from the ground up(which is obvious), they're unlikely to be doing anything to the animations, character models, cut-scenes, dialogue, base mechanics or mini-games...

They're just giving it a coating of HD gloss...

The best we can hope for is that everything doesn't come out looking freshly oiled like it did in the GoW HD remasters...

I'm not hoping for a Final Fantasy VII re-make any time soon and not because I don't like the games, not at all, FFVII was my introduction to the series as a kid and I hold some fond memories of playing it.

But I don't want it re-made, at least not like how everyone else wants it, which is to say, 'with juiced up graphics in HD'.

I'd be more than happy to see a cartoony-looking FFVII re-make, maybe with the same graphical style as Kingdom Hearts.

I don't believe any old school game needs a HD polish or photo-realistic touch up to appeal to people even more then they already do now...

So does it make sense to remaster X?

Not to me it doesn't.
Rumors are coming out that are saying FFX will be a full fledged remake with the graphics close to that of Final Fantasy XIII. It's doubtful but definitely better than paying 40$ for a simple HD upgrade.

OT: I never got a chance to play it the first time around so it will be interesting to see how it has aged.

Final Fantasy VII has aged poorly. You could probably re-create it in Lego at this point. I don't have a problem with Final Fantasy X or the fact that they're remaking it but I'd still rather get it on the PS2 since there are hundreds of thousands (probably) of used copies available for stupid cheap. I haven't finished X though because there are better games that I wanted to get through first and not just other Final Fantasy titles.

My only real thing about the FFX remake is that I feel it's too soon. The PS2 is still a viable option for gamers. The console is widely available for sale new and used as is the original FFX. I don't see why other Final Fantasys aren't being remade...oh wait...Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3 and, 4 have been remade on the PSP and DS (except for 4 which was put on both consoles). 5 and 6 were ported over to the GBA as well but that was some while ago. At this point the PSX Final Fantasy's haven't been remade or re-released outside of the PSN. Maybe it's time to do them first.

For the record, I'd rather see a remake of Final Fantasy VIII or IX as those two were my favorite.

VII would not hold up by modern standards because we expect more in games now, even if a lot of us won't admit it. I loved VI, but when I played it again recently, I was a little disappointed. It just happens
