Hi all, still sort of new here I know but I had something happen too me the other day and I was wondering if anyone else shared my experience... well I already know everyone probably has, but I wanted people to share their thoughts.

So I was in summer A humanities and was having a good time (I actually like school..) and I that the girl next to me was also in my psych class, so I asked her and we laughed about the other teacher, anyways I hadn't really looked at her too much except her face and maybe a casual glance. So she was sitting next to me and the teacher is going on about mythology when suddenly she stretched her arms above her head, arms back, chest forward... I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head, I felt like the guy from raiders of the lost ark that face melted... I kept my cool and looked away (I'm christian and don't really think it is right to stare)

The rest of the class I had complete mush brains, [http://www.thelondonpaper.com/thelondonpaper/news/london/news/researchers-talking-to-women-makes-men-thick] I was just utterly freaked out by the experience because I hadn't really had this happen before (Homeschooled) Now I have to sit next to her in class for the rest of the term (NOT COMPLAINING) but I find myself severely distracted in class at times.

Who else has this happened to? Discuss.

(PS if anyone has tips on how a tall, skinny, shy guy could go about befriending this lady, would be nice... =D)
man up! ask her out!

seriously dude, this is your future self. ask. her. the. fuck. out. do it tommorow. or (and i promise you this) you will regret it.

A bit off topic, but I don't get why people say things like "breasts are over sexualized in western society. Maybe if people weren't so afraid of the human body and saw it as a natural thing, rather than a sexual thing, it wouldn't be a problem."

I'm sorry, but who doesn't want to sexualize breasts?

I mean, life would suck if every time I saw a naked girl I was like "meh, its a natural thing"

Seriously people!
We agree on something for once.
However, you have to admit that people that focus completely on sex are well...not nice...I can't think of a word to describe it.
Actually according freud we are mostly driven by sex.
"Freud is also renowned for his redefinition of sexual desire as the primary motivational energy of human life," - quote from his wikipedia page
Freud is also renowned for creating fanciful theories based solely on his own beliefs, with no possible way to verify them :)

Sorry, studying psychology, had to be said

Completely against what others have stated, so no offense I'll pass :p

@guy above me: Yeah! my psych teacher was saying the same exact thing.

Anyway yeah, I suppose that it's understandable for teenage boys.
The world has only a glimpse of the idea of how much we can help ourselves when even the most minutely provocative gesture is performed.

It's like a switch. I had a similar experience a few years ago when a girl I liked was sitting across from me, and she spread her legs rather wide. We have open-fronted desks. Normally I get A's in science, but in that whole hour long lesson I didn't learn a damn thing.

Damn women and their powerz! No wonder they were oppressed and forced to dress modestly for thousands of years! What have we done! Such power cannot be ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL.

They're breasts.
Get over it. -_-
I have to agree with.Once you see one pair, you've seen most of them. And they're not really all that interesting while inside a bunch of clothing.

Duh? I'm asking advice on a gaming forum after all.

But anyways, they'd have to wait.
and that's precisely the point i was trying to adress.
what for?! it's nothing wrong or bad to desire to be with the person you like, as close and intimate as possible. i'm sure god in all his wisdom would not lay down some stupid pointless rules on us to make our lives harder. hell, he probably is facepalming in heaven on each occasion like that..

Did your nose start to gush blood?
Actually no, I don't understand how that can happen to anyone with a modestly intact nasal capillary system. Although my reaction was analogous to that, yes.

Not really? Unless you're confusing a theory with hypothesis and I've been taught the same scientific method as you.

But then I always here how regarding psychology as a science is a load of bullcrap, so what do I know.

Oh no you di'n't *wags finger*

Seriously, the amount of evidence backing up some theories is quite good, there are just the few that are mentioned with no evidence what-so-ever. People think psychology is a doss subject - it is not

I kind of agree with this guy. I'm assuming you'd like to start a relationship with this woman instead of just having some eye-candy in class without your grades dropping too much, else you wouldn't be telling us this since you don't seem like the "Wooo I just saw boobs, high five!" kind of guy.

Beware though, when it goes sour you're stuck next to her in class for a long while. Still, it's better to have taken a shot at it instead of wondering what could have been.

Funny thing: In a couple months I will be in the same class with a girl I really liked but dumped me before it got serious. That'll be great.

I have never had this happen.
I can think about women, find them very sexy, but they don't turn my brain off.

I think the better way of putting it is that if you're so inclined, you'll focus on a new subject... one that isn't educational.

Agreement?!?! Quick, say something bad about capitalism!

:p

Yeah, I guess they're 'not nice'. That is, assuming "they" doesn't refer to teenage boys.
CAPITALISM CAUSES CORRUPTION!

Anyway yeah, I suppose that it's understandable for teenage boys.
Okay people have a sex drive for 2 reasons( it feels good)(it makes babies). There is a purpose for everything we do. (I am not saying things you have never heard before just restating the facts witch I have come to know) but listen for a moment. If there is no sexual attraction how would the relationship advance? You can have many friends and not like any of them in that specific way. Women are much more sexualized in modern culture than men are, We have grown up with this our entire lives and it is too ingrained in (most of) us to be removed. imagine If we grew up and the sky was yellow instead of blue. We would be so used to the that sky that a blue sky would seem strange or alien. Of course that is no excuse for focusing completely on the female body. basically my poorly constructed jumble of words is trying to say that sex is great and all but there is so much more to it than that and men need to get there heads on straight.

EDIT: Sorry for any offense in what I have said.
