Yet how many lives have been saved by the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul, along with countless other charities? That cannot be measured but is far more important.Christemo said:Christianity is the greatest sin by far. do you know how many people has been killed by Christian twats? thousands! the crusades alone is responsible for atleast 10000 deaths caused by christians. and im really meaning at least, because then we have the "witches", the "heretics" and so on...
I'm sure I'll get shit for this but paedophilia is not a crime. It might be a sin in the same way eating meat on Friday is a sin, but noticing more than that. Now acting on those desires, I agree, those people you can put in a meat grinder. But there's quite a difference...Emeli said:I'ma go with pedophilia.
Usually I'd come up with some carefully thought out explanation, but this one is pure gut. I think rapists in general are scum, but I'm usually the first one to champion due process and rehabilitation. I think every man deserves his day in court, and that jail is an appropriate punishment for crimes, and a man who has served his time deserves a second chance.
On the other hand, I genuinely believe that pedophiles should be fed through a meat grinder. They are the only criminals who I could totally justify killing in cold blood and not lose a single second's sleep over it.
why.. I smell a book quote.... thats it, the kite runner.tibnik said:I would go with something that would seem small to those who don't think hard on it but is actually quite deep. The greatest sin ever would be Theft.
This probably covers alot of other issues already raised. Murdering being the theft of a live and of a loved one or some such person. Rape being the theft of dignity as well as other things. I bet most people can make the rest of the connections between theft and other crimes.
(and points for anyone who knows where I got that line of thinking)
(That is theft being worst thing line of thinking)
This, but torture where it was rape (I veiw rape as a particularly savage, distasteful form of torture).avykins said:Rape. I can forgive most crimes if they have a real reason but rape is just disgusting because it has no real reason. You are willing to destroy someone's life just for a few moments of pleasure that $$50 could get you at the local brothel.
To me that just displays not only a total lack of concern for anyone but yourself but also a display of weakness that you need to dominate someone like that to feel better about yourself.
Then again I am against all crimes without reason. Even shit like people that make computer viruses. They do it for what? No reason other than destroying other peoples property. These people should honestly be put to death.
Both end when the victim dies, however in the case of murder that is far sooner than rape. Both are unforgivable, both affect the lives of not only the victims, but all their family and friends as well. In time, the death of a loved one can be accepted, perhaps not forgiven, but accepted. To see a loved one forever broken, living with being raped is not something I would wish on anyone, and it is haunts those close to the victim forever.riskroWe said:How can you say rape is worse than murder? Cuz sex and violence are two of the unholy trinity of icky things that genteel puritans musn't talk about? And to combine them is simply abhorrent?
Psychologially the traumatic effects shouldn't be any worse than what you'd get from armed robbery, but society has conditioned everyone to think that rape is the worst possible thing that can happen.
Isn't wrath one of them? I'd imagine that also affects others.Eleuthera said:I'm sure I'll get shit for this but paedophilia is not a crime. OT: I think, out of the original 7 big ones, I'd have to go with "Anger". The others just effect yourself, anger effects others. In more general words: unneeded, unprovoked, extreme aggression in any form.
Points for you for guessing correctly! Good job.4fromK said:the greatest evil is stupidity, as all evil stems from stupidity in the first place.
for example, I would say that thinking possesions can make you happy is stupidity, and some pretty abhorrent deeds have been done in the name of greed. plus theres the ever present example of religious fanatascism, one of the more popular brands of stupidity. realistically, any other sin you could think of (murder, theft, and probably even rape in extremely extenuating circumstances) is justifiable in certain contexts, but stupidity cannot be.
