I'm playing ME1 now on hardcore, and I think it's well done. Being the free explorer I am, I'm going to leave the main storyline for dessert, so I got 3 times less planets done in the same time with an Infiltrator Sheppard(pistols for the most part, sniping occasionally), Garrus and Wrex with Assault rifles..
I found hardcore to be so frustrating, particularly the "Find Liara T'Soni" mission. Everytime I came across the final Krogen I always died. Hell, even Wrex couldn't hold his own against him. :(
No fun on that level, just anger & space bar mashing to skip all the pre-boss dialogue
Fallout 3 & Oblivion become boring after reaching a certain level on highest difficulty. Nothing, save Deathclaws, can kill my lonely wonderer. :D

Resident Evil 4 comes up. On Professional the inventory management becomes really important, the game was just the right amount of hard for me. Also, the lazor reward for completing Professional was very nice.

Once you get the joke, I would have to say the difficulty level on I Wanna Be The Guy got it just about right, especially on the hardest level.

If you don't get the joke, however...

Viewtiful Joe and F-Zero GX. Really, really hard but not unfairly so, and I felt so triumphal when I managed them :)
Ah, g.x, I do miss thee... My greatest sense of achievement in a game was unlocking all the arcade racers; story mode was absolutely fucking impossible on the hardest difficulty but damn it was satisfying.

Also, the grand prix on master is the only racing game I've seen that doesn't resort to rubberband A.i., they beat you fair and square. You can target the leader specifically and kill him to get more of a chance at winning. Hell, just straight racing, placing consistently 4th/5th will probably win you the competition, there's no mario kart destined winners here.

It's a monster to beat, because it's insanely fast, but the grand prix is always fair I found, I never got pissed at the computer, I knew if I lost it was because I messed up. I can put up with any insane difficulty when it's like that!
I mentioned Viewtiful Joe as well but how could I forget F-Zero GX. I loved that game it was so difficult. I unlocked everything and beat every difficulty.

I agree with the description of GX. It's difficult as heck but not because the A.I was cheap.

All cod games on veteran are good, but not to hard :p
MW2 was rather easy though; very short too - disappointing single player.
I have to agree.

I felt it was a big letdown, difficulty wise; I didn't mind the story, considering how hard Call of Duty 4's campaign was.

Let's see... Well, Dragon Age Origins on the highest difficulty is.... evil. I think it is rewarding to win a fight, but I wouldn't know, because it wouldn't stop kicking my ass!

.
Dragon Age kicked my ass even on Normal difficulty man.

It's tough. Especially if you've never done that style of game before.

There were even parts on easy where I died a few times...
How? Man, everyone says this game is really hard, I left it cause it was too easy. Hell, the only time I died was when I was fighting the dragon, then my group killed him shortly after.

Yes, that deserted building in Denerim. The first room is something you have to be ready for.
[Enters room. Immediately frozen by a blood mage and swarmed by other enemies. Dead before I had a chance.]
And Gaxkang is just God.

Right: Resistance: Fall of Man, you're looking at 12-15 hours on superhuman; it was one of the most difficult experiences I've ever had in a fps, but it sure as hell was fun.

Wrong: Resistance 2, the on superhuman was way too easy, took me only 8 hours and I only died about 16 times compared to the 200+ from Resistance 1

And then there are the CoD of Duty campaigns on veteran difficulty, where enemies throw PB&J sandwiches at your face the momoent you expose 1 sq. in. of your body out of cover. It's about 12 hours on veteran but when I subtract all the time I spent waitng for health to regerate behind cover, it takes about an hour and a half.

Everytime I accomplish a rather tricky section on expert for a song on a Rock Band game (most specifically, the Beatles Rock Band) there is a thrill of excitement in me. Of course then I think "if only I could actually play guitar."
But it's cool, I can actually play bass. In real life. Like, a real instrument. With strings. Ever heard of one?

Oblivion on the hardest difficulty is just boring. Every 1v1 fight takes 10 minutes. It's piss easy, but you don't feel like that grand, epic hero when you are battling a generic goblin for 15 minutes.

Resistance: Fall of Man had an ass-kicking hardest difficulty. I never finished it. I had fun, but it was too hard at certain points.

And Assassin's Creed 2's hardest difficulty was..... wait. Nevermind.

No, I was serious, I was seriously asking why it is hard for everyone, Between me and my two other friends, we found this to be a cake walk. I was let down by Bioware on this game, I wasn't attempting to brag, I seriously don't get how its a tough game.

Well, I might change my opinion on the "well done" part after a few days..I mean, I first went to Argus Rho, just because it's closest to the centre of the map, and there I couldn't possibly beat the turians guarding Wrex's family armor - I'll get back there when I get a few more levels under my belt. I also skipped the fight with Jax on the citadel. Hopefully I'll beat the game eventually though.
