At the moment, iron. It's just pretty much solved the last problem I had with my waste disposal project on its own.

Not sure what Yogi Bear's doing in the ytterbium spot, but then again I'd imagine there aren't many game characters with a Y and a B in their names.

Iridium

I don't know why,but it struck me as most awesome element years ago.
Most corrosive resistant metal?Extremely rare on Earth and has on of the highest melting and boiling points.
Lastly, just the name sounds badass.Iridium just doesn't care.

Yogi Bear is his full name, that's why he's there. But I have to go with Potassium (K) on that table.

Aha! Now here is a thread that's made for me!

I direct your attention to the left.. HAFNIUM. :)

It's a dark grey, shiny metal.. it probably has other characteristics (internet points for reference). :)

My favorite element is...a tie.
A rather obvious tie, too, between Uranium and Neon. Those two elements are awesome in their own ways. One gets awesome explosions of doom, and the other is just cool because it glows when excited, and it will not blow up in your face. The contrast between the two reactions is also nice.
Those.

And everything that reacts with water:
You know that video was faked? They did it on Mythbusters. Still entertaining though.
Well, maybe it's faked, but in the right amounts, those elements reacts like that, we've tried it in VERY small amounts in middle high school, it started burning, the flame was really big compared to the size of the Sodium-thingy.
Sodium + water = fun

to be honest i think your not far off the money with your "smart people percentage" there, in fact i reckon it might even be higher (must remember to make a poll of this).

as for the element? archon, it sounds cool

3. Francium (and the rest of the alkaline metals) because most of them explode in contact with water (however, Francium can spontaneously combust, even explode, IN AIR if its humid enough).
Francium is predicted to be less reactive than caesium because of relativistic effects. They also have not yet managed to make enough Fr to test this.

Deuterium, because it's the reason we're all alive, barely anyone has heard of it and it doesn't even get it's own space on the bloody table, which is harsh considering the staggering space between hydrogen and helium used for bugger all
That's because it's not an element in and of itself. It's a hydrogen isotope. The two most common hydrogen isotopes are deuterium and tritium.
The most common hydrogen isotope is hydrogen-1...

Edit: Favourite element... hmm. Well my least favourite element at the moment is Cu (the bastard unpaired electron in Cu[sup]II[/sup] doesn't relax fast enough!) But favourite, that's more difficult. I think I'm gonna go for iron; after all it is the most stable element (at least in nuclear terms).

This is very true.

Plutonium.

Dude, it can go boom. Why wouldn't you like it?

Followed closely by:
Carbon
Oxygen
Lawrencium
and Mercury.

I'd have to say Kryptonite. Look it up, its a real element. Or maybe Rubidium. One capsule of that and a bath of water makes a nice explosion.

Na.
Sodium.
I love salty foods, and its in most of the chemicals I use on a weekly basis.
Gota agree with you there (the former anyway...)

Mine would be... Magnesium Mg... It is fascinating...

*ahem* I definitely don't have one. I'm not sure why anyone ever would. Having one wouldn't secondarily make you smart, much less an intellectual. It would just mean you like Chemistry. A lot. There's a huge difference.

All for Nitrogen. And here's why:

NO2. Makes cars go fast while burning more air and asking for less fuel.

Even the slightest increase in the atmosphere's concentration in N will cause your fucking lungs to freeze.

It creates cryogenic burns. Talk about antithesis.
