The PS3 looses to the PS2 regularly enough that I've stopped laughing.
Yeah this isn't really a story anymore.
It actually outsold the Wii and shat on the 360 over the last quarter in Japan, which is a pretty good indication of what will happen in the western world.
Then when FF XIII comes out that trend will continue something chronic.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one who played his PS2 more than his PS3. When I bought the PS3 it was essentially for the Blu-Ray Player and Little Big Planet (although I might look into inFamous when it comes out) so I didnt bother to buy the super expensive version seeing as I already have a PS2. This seriously makes me laugh though, wonder how Sony feels?

You forgot Killzone 2 and last years ps3 exclusive list MGS4, (and Kojima's next project to be announced on friday of this week) Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, etc.
He was listing upcoming games, PS3 has a good year ahead and is on track for some glory. If your that arrogant about not getting the console because you love MS so much, its your own fault for missing out on some great titles.
What are you talking about man... I own one. Ps3 fanboys seriously get so defensive they'll defend their opinion against people who are agreeing with them, or are you just generalizing?
Yeah wasnt having a stab at you.. just adding to what Indigo and yourself were saying because 360 fanboys are just as ignorant about all the things that the PS3 has to offer.

On amazon.com, the cheapest ps3 (80gb without game) costs $389.99 and the cheapest xbox360 (the arcade one ) costs $199.99 .

I am NOT trying to make a comparison here between these two console versions. But it's just a fact that you can get a next-gen console for a lot less money by buying a Microsoft console instead of a Sony one.

I have the original PS3 (with backwards compatibility) and it was a f*cking expensive machine. What are they now $300-$400? As opposed to $750-$800? Sony CLEARLY explained their exclusion of Backwards Compatibility as well as the exclusion of the extra ports (SD cards etc) which was, to drop the price because people were in fact complaining about it (and I do realise this has been said previously, I just feel some people need it hammered into their heads to get the damn point)

A lot of the things I have seen people complain about are pure fanboyism, and I realise my defense of the PS3 could be considered fanboyism, but, I plan to buy a 360 and a Wii for some of the games that are exclusive on those consoles. I feel that console wars are silly, the PS3 was designed with more technically proficient game designers in mind (look at Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a game that the 360 would not be able to handle) while the 360 was designed with slightly more casual and competitive gamers in mind (Xbox Live is a pure example of this) and the Wii was designed completely for fun, casual family users in mind.

This said, the idea of comparing these consoles seems silly to me.

That's my $0.02

Why do people ever bother making threads about this thing... you always get idiotic fanboys crying about how the Xbox, PS3 or PC are superior when they are not even mentioned in the fricking OP, we are not talking about what console is better or has better exclusives - you people are pathetic...

Very well said and welcome.
I'm very tired of this myself, the whole idea that the competition of video-game consoles is supposed to be a 'war' is the silliest idea I have ever heard.

like i said, Tin of worms. i am not touching this again, its just stupid arguing with you. i give you cold hard fact about hardware and you still think that an average (but worse than some of the others you can get on PC) graphics card strapped to a console is better. You are clearly trapped in a massive ego if you honestly think that there is any stystem known to man that is better than 12gb 2000mhz of ram stuck of a highend x58 chipset mobo with 2 GTX 295s on it.

tin of worms man, i know that there is some sort of absurd thing that you are gonna try to throw at me, but i won't be listening. you clearly aren't. Tin. Of. Worms.
It took you that long to see that Indigo is the biggest PS3 fanboy on the Escapist?

Ye the PS3 is experiencing very hard times, however I think there's still hope at the end of the tunnel.

Are we talking about God Of War or Halo?
Both, actually.

ThisNewGuy said:
Wow, so you've played the final build already? Amazing! And I don't think you can recycle it.
God of War 2 was the exact same, hell even the PSP game was mostly the same game as the original if only converted to hand held. That and their using the same shameless controversy machine to get hype as Rockstar.

"Screenshots of the game would be too violent to release" ..Pfft..

ThisNewGuy said:
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, good one.
Glad you think so.

ThisNewGuy said:
Tell that to Microsoft who's just spent millions of dollars to acquire this game.
Its a money machine because you can make a bad CGI movie based off of Final Fantasy 7 and people will worship it like the second coming.. Oh wait.

ThisNewGuy said:
Yes, we should all judge a game based on its previous game. I mean, god forbid a sequel actually make improvements.
...Yes, yes we should, i'd say that most gamers do this for good reason. Some sequels DO make improvements, like Saints Row 2. Then you have games like Final Fantasy that think a valid sequel is the same game with prettier graphics and a new love story. I have honestly thought about this and if Final Fantasy was a visual novel, or an anime, I wouldn't hate it as much.

Valkyria Chronicles,
I'll point you to Yahtzee's reviews of this game, if only so you can listen to the first portion and understand how very much I hate JRPGS. A Gamestop Employee couldn't seem to understand this, as, after I asked for a suggestion and told him my preferances and hatred of JRPGS he felt the need to fill my ear with how awesome Star Ocean 4 was. However when another two customers jumped in and explained how different the game was from other JRPGS so I bought it. I have a feeling that Star Ocean 4 is a neat list of everything I hate about JRPGS. So if a JRPG is made using Star Ocean 4 as a list of things not to do I MIGHT like it. Valkyria Chronicles can go choke on a rusty nail.

.. and before anyone asks.. No, I have NOT played Shin Megami Tensei.

Resistance,
The one on your list I can't comment on, never really payed much attention to it.

ThisNewGuy said:
Yah! Because you know, 360 actually has games that have good stories like...XBOX LIVE BABY!

Maybe if you play Saints Row 2 with the Shape, Muscularity, Fatness, and Age to zero, change the features to more childish looking features, give him some bright neon hair, use random colorful clothes that make him look like he was dressed by Stevie Wonder, and give him a female voice, you might actually like that story.

Let me clear this up right now, i'm not anti-sony, i'm disappointed. I'm disappointed in the same way that you are in your dog when he craps on the floor while your in the room. I'm disappointed in the same way as a father who comes down to see his son drunkenly passed out, face first on your front lawn.

I'm also not a microsoft fan, as their two biggest babies, Halo and Gears of War, I can't stand. Mostly I don't elaborate on my hatred for these games because most everyone on the forum can't go into a thread having anything to do with hatred over games without preaching about how evil Halo is.

And for the record, of course the developer of a game exclusively for the PS3 is going to say that the PS3 is the best game console and the only console they can make the game for. If Nintendo payed me enough i'd lie up down and sideways about how awesome their products are.

Edit: Speaking of Sony, Blood Rayne 3 seems to be on the Duke Nukem Forever clock..

So, apparently the Playstation 3 has dropped way behind the Xbox 360, Wii, and even the Playstation 2.

Anyways, I thought that was good for a laugh, I mean losing a console war is no shame, but losing the console war to the system you are trying to replace.. Wow.
Yeah, that is pretty bad

On the subject of Backwards Compatibility, which is linked I feel to this, here are my thoughts;

Firstly, when the PS3 came out, who the hell didn't have a PS2? Seriously, the only people who didn't were either A) Xbox Fanboys or B) Retarded. Everyone I know who only had one 6th Gen Console had a PS2.

Now, the PS2 is dirt cheap. You could buy one for the cost of a new PS3 title. It'll probably come with games as well.

In short, why do you need backwards compatibility? The PS2 is a godly machine even now, so nobody has any excuse not to own one.
