Rid yourself of anything in your room that reminds you of her. Photos, nick-nacks, anything. Just stick it a box and put it in the loft. Delete her number and any internet connections and just go out with your friends for a few days. Have a blokey night!

Have a rebound date, even if you don't feel ready. You might just spot someone you take quite a shine to :)

Rebound dating is a bad idea. It rarely works permanently and the other person will end up feeling used.

I suggest listening to a lot of heavy metal. Sure as hell helped me.

Good advice from everyone really (especially getting rid or hiding away objects that remind you), not much else to offer but just to say it's been just over a week for me and it's still a strange so you're far from alone ;_;

Tonight will be a few drinks with friends, a bite to eat, followed by a film and then gaming into the wee hours if all goes to plan!

EDIT - Yes, heavy metal, works for me too!

You're quite young though, so rebound dating to you may be different to what I would call it? I mean more like go for a meal with someone or just hang out at a bar with them, it's more for company than for a quick bang in the back seat. Sex doesn't have to come into it at all.

That's all fine and dandy, sure, but don't make it anything serious. When I used the word "used", I was not referring to sex.

Hehe who's making it serious? A rebound date doesn't have to use anyone. Being used is usually a consequence of sleeping with someone. Spending time together in a bar or whatever won't make anyone feel used unless they have some kind of emotional problems themselves and latch onto someone within 20 minutes of meeting them ^_^

*pat on back*
I feel for you rackham. I had a similar experience last year and I spent a good month (and the rest) sulking about it which didn't help at all.

I found that loud music helped best if I was alone. Keeping your mind off her will help the whole 'healing' process, so as people have said, gaming, friends, stuff like that.

The BEST remedy I think - when you're ready to move on - is finding another girlfriend, because it sucks to feel lonely and you'll feel a whole lot more complete when you find someone else.

Just remember that life's too short, what happen before is in the past.

Hang out with your friends, flirt with different girls and just make good use of what time you have :)

Equation for getting over a relationship.

Time before you've moved on? About 1/2 of the relationship's duration.

Ex: I was with a girl for 2 years.. broke up, a year later I was finally over her. Its not as cut and dry as that, but its a good bet that it'll take around that long.

Always have a contingency plan (or whatever you want to call it)

failing the above look for something quick and meaningless that will make you feel dirty, regretful and possibly even more depressed than you would be? Hell if your going to be miserable you might as well be miserable after having what may be your first bit of variation in a long time...

Play video games. Many, many video games. Lock yourself in your room and only come out whwn necessary. Do not ever talk to anyone except over the internet.
You say that like it's meant to be the undesirable option.
