Tommy put away the book he was flipping through and went back to the table, leaning back he scratched his chin thinking about where to start. Well the most glaring thing that your collection is missing, is anywork that talks about the Universal definition of of magic. Essentially once mages in different cultures became aware of eachother they needed a way to classify all different types of magic, so the definition they settled with is " A method that subverts the natural laws of nature to perform something super-natural." It's vague but it covers everything from Teutonic magic to Chinese Ki wizardry. The main idea is that "magic" is a term that applies to several different kinds of sorcery, all very different but still sharing something in common. What exactly that something is, well that's up to debate, a conclusive answer to that question has been the holy grail for scholars lately, just like the Unifying Theory of Physics. Some rule that can make sense of almost completely contradictory systems. Some say after the Unifying Theory of Magic there's also one that unifies Magic and Science.
Alright what else... Oh ya, as for the magic community it's mostly focused around several discreet "Magic Cities". I know there's one in Central America, one in the Himmalayas Shangri-La style, one under the Mediterranian Sea, and a few others I can't remember right now. Essentially they are where magical people congregate. As for why most people don't know, well that's harder to explain. There's no explicit rule that says they can't know or we can't tell them, I guess we just try not to rub it in their faces, the motto is "Not hidden, just not advertised".
I guess, finally there is the Arc Mage council, you've already met them. They are some of the most powerful magicians in the world, chosen to lead the magical community as a whole. Essentially a sort of UN for magic people. That's it, there is more but I don't know what you want to hear about.
