"Have you been listening? The reason I didn't tell you about the card is that I was planning on taking the deal!"

Simon angrily emphasized the last few words

"You think I care about what others think?! I have the ability to teleport Richard and yet I choose working for the Society over the lavish life I could have of crime. If I wanted to leave, I'd simply teleport away and none of you would EVER hear from me again"

He took a deep breath before continouing

"Hell, the only reason I'm bothering to argue my innocence with you is because I want to stay on the Society! If I truly didn't care, I wouldn't bother fighting for it"

"Well my mother and Major Crime said they came up with the name one day when they were having lunch. Told me they just started to come up with the most evil sounding words they could think of...and how they could troll people," Leland explained to Tommy.

"And you're right we are the 'bad guys'. But we're the most 'good' bad guys I guess you can say. My mother uses the Union to keep other bad guys in check, make them follow the set of rules she put up so that no one would cause mass genocide or world domination. Because then what would you do after that? No sense in destroying the world or killing a bunch of people..." he said.

"Yes, I have, longer than you know. It's how I know you are lying. You're words and your actions aren't matching up. The Union has exactly what you want, and you didn't take the deal? If you were an opportunist, you would know they are more powerful and can offer you far more than we can, and an opportunist would join them. You have also complained of the Society's tendency for careful planning and the want to wait. The Union has no such rules, as long as you stay within a few basic tenants, you are free to act as you wish. You yearned for the capacity to act, and they can give it to you. Oh, by the way, don't get me started on the number of reasons you could be arguing your innocence even if you had joined the Union. The prime reason being the ability to spy on us or stab us in the back should the time come. With all the evidence I can bring against you, why do you bother to keep playing this game with me? If you continue to try and toy with me I will simply go to the society itself with my concerns and let them decide. I'm sure with all the evidence I hold, they will not be so trusting even if they do declare you innocent. Your only chance to keep this from getting to the others is to tell me the truth and why you did it." Richard growled out, becoming nearly spiteful with Simon for continuously playing this game with him.

Simon sighed once again and shrugged, a causal smile forming on his lips

"You know, out of everyone who we work with, you were the only one who I ever got close to truly respecting"

He sat down on the roof, and lay down so he was looking up at the sky, slipping on a pair of dark sunglasses in order to shade his eyes

"Thank you, now will you stop insulting me and just tell me what we both know is already the case and why you did it?" Richard replied still very aggravated at the whole situation.

Tommy leaned back a while to think about what Leland had just said, and you guys need the Society to give those guys a target. And without the Society, what would stop overzealous supers from just taking everything over and impose order with an iron fist? I suppose it's just like Yin and Yang, two opposites that need each other in order to find balance, otherwise one would spiral out of control.

Then why do I still feel like this whole situation is out of whack? Tommy thought to himself, looking back at Leland. Uh that was suppose to be an inner monologue, please ignore...

Simon arched an eyebrow, his sly smile still on his lips

"I find it curious, Richard about why you wish for me to say anything. Why not just go to the Society and take your chances there? You've made it perfectly clear you have enough 'evidence' against me"

He mimed the words evidence with his fingers, his whole tone and body now completely relaxed in contrast to what he was like a few minutes earlier

"It is a little odd to say the least. But everything seems fine so far! None of us are at each other's throats or anything. No killing intent from what I can tell, though that might be just because mum and the other Union members don't feel threatened at all," Leland told Tommy.

"And even I won't be a member for too long. Whenever my mother retires I'm gonna leave. Not sure how Major Crime will handle it by himself, but he'll get help I'm sure," Leland added, taking a pill out of his pocket and swallowing it.

"After that who know's what I'll do? Travel through dimensions perhaps. See all the places that exist. Things like that sound nice."

"Because I'd rather just hear it from the horse's mouth. I'd also like to know why you did it specifically. There is also the fact that soon enough, the Society and the Union will be working together to face a common threat. If you continue this charade until then. I can ensure you will not be useful in any part of what is sure to be a world changing battle. The Union doesn't know enough about my suits to make any use of you, only I have that much intimate knowledge of the suit. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to miss a battle that determines the fate of billions of lives." Richard said, his voice going entirely calm. He figured if he mixed confrontation and his greatest temptation, he may be able to get what he was after.

Does indeed... Tommy thought for a bit, I suppose I shouldn't tell anyone else about this, for some reason I got a feeling they wouldn't understand this as well as I would.

Aaron had done enough thinking for the day. He got up and stretched slowly breaking out of his ice encasing. He looked down and noticed the decent was going to take longer than it would be to get up here. He decided he was just going to slide back over to the lodge. He jumped off the summit and free fell a couple of feet before catching himself with an ice slide he started off the side of the mountain. As he neared the lodge he noticed that Richard and Simon were talking on the roof. He slowly made his way making sure not to overexert himself. He jumped off the slide as the ice diapered as eh dismounted. He rolled onto the roof and joined the two.

"What's up guys?"

"You can if you want. I don't really mind it at all. The group seems like it can understand the grey, but it's entirely up to you," Leland replied with a smile, taking a moment to think before asking, "You said there are magical cities around right? What's the closest one to here?"

"I don't actually know where the greenhouse is; I only learned about it this morning," Katie answered Jason. "But if they have a gym or combat arena here, we could use that instead, once I pick up a flower or something from the greenhouse. A gym would give us a lot of open space, while the greenhouse will probably be kind of like a maze of tables and plants. We'd need that space, 'cause let's face it, a spar between us will probably result in a lot of moving around, ranged attacks and one or both of us being thrown across the room."

As they walked, Katie wondered if she should tell Jason her plans. How would he react? Would he take it badly, or accept her decision? For all she knew, he could offer to come with her... she didn't think that would happen. The Society needed heroes like him. Strong, confident supers with the capability to change the world. Katie didn't think she was one of those people yet. But she could become one, if her idea worked out.

Simon sat up and grinned

"Richard please. I'm an opportunist remember? If I don't feel like telling you something won't positively affect me, I'm willing to take chances. In fact..."

He jumped up, dusting himself off

"...you're whole threatening, angry vibe isn't going to get you anything from me or anyone else now so if you have no real incentive for me, I'll take my chances with the others. I know how valuable my power is as an asset and there is no way anyone would leave me out of a fight"

Turning to Aaron, he nodded causally

"Hey Aaron, how was the mountain?"

"It was cool and relaxing. Though I doubt you guys would've enjoyed it. I also got to serious thinking about some stuff."

Aaron rolled onto his back and looked up at the clouds.

"Bull shit, your power is useless in the fight to come without my knowledge of the suits, I actually don't need you at all. I can compensate for your power easily. You could never show up to the fight, and nobody would care. I only need Garrus, Aaron, Camille, Major Crime, Patriot Punch!, Leland, Dona, Tommy, and of course myself. I know how you can be useful, actually moving you up to mid list rather than the bottom, but I need to actually trust you, and I don't." Richard replied, his tone not changing one bit from when Aaron got there.

"In fact, without you knowing what I do, you are actually the most useless member of the team, on either side. You can't stab through even the earliest version of my suit, and you can't teleport inside the suit unless you want to share your small intestine with the driver. So unless you want to be left out of a truly world determining battle, tell me what we both know to be the truth."

Central America, it's on an island off the western coast used to be an ancient Aztec city, best way to get there is to book a flight with an Airline called "Eldorado Airways". If you wind up going you should find my sister, Dira, she's living in the family home over there it's got a great view and it's in the middle of downtown. Just tell her your a colleague of mine. Be warned though, she might ask you to run some interesting errands.

Simon rolled his eyes and motioned to Richard

"Looks like someone could use a trip up that mountain eh Aaron?"

Walking face to face with Richard, Simon continued to smile easily

"You want to talk to me about your suspicions on what I do on my private time, fine but do not bring our teammates into this"

"Ugh planes. I always get sick on them. Teleporting is just so much easier," Leland said putting emphasis on those last three words. He thought a moment before asking, "If you've got any free time once you're done healing, I'd love if you could show me one of the cities! It'd be like a magical learning vacation! It'd be great! And I'd pay for any of the costs and the like!"
