"Hmm? Oh, no thank you. This isn't a speed read, in fact I would rather do quite the opposite. These scrolls and books contain histories and stories thought never to have existed and in their original languages. This is a scientific and historical find of a lifetime. If you can read them and wish to join me, you may, but I don't actually need assistance. Thank you for the offer though." he replied.
"This 'Queen of the Mist' should go away when the disease is completely eradicated from your system, if she was born of the physical trauma of dying due to the virus. Now, if she were created out of psychological trauma from past events, working through said trauma should reintegrate the personality back into your own. As for members of the Union in our Midst, there is Camille(the actual creator and leader), Major Crime (Camille's second in command), Leland, Mordtoten, and Requiem. We are not attacking or doing anything to them, at our current strength they could crush us as if we were a fly, and considering you all owe your lives to them, you shouldn't do anything out of respect. Anything else you wanted to ask me?" Richard replied.
"You asked and I simply answered. By the way, I can't 'check who I'm talking to' because I know nothing about either of you. Oh, and there are many kinds of traumas that can cause Dissociative Identity Disorder, it just has to be large enough that the individual creates an alternate persona to cope. So don't go thinking everyone has to be abused, or molested, or whatever to have the problem. If their psyche is fragile enough, it is possible that dropping an ice cream cone could cause the disorder to occur." Richard replied neutrally before going back to reading the scroll. He was not interested in getting into another confrontation unless it was with Simon.
The moment Leland finished speaking the words the scroll on the ground burned away. From the charred spot that remained a beam of light was unleashed and sent piercing into the sky. After a moment of admiring the light show Leland and Tommy exchanged glances, then Tommy took a step forward into the beam of light. He felt a surge of raw energy enter him through his chest, every fiber of his being coarse with power. Every feeling of lethargy and disease left his body. And then he blacked out.
"That was amazing...too bad you blacked out. Everything looks a bit more serene. Thank goodness I still have my magic," Leland said to himself, levitating Tommy as he walked back to the Lodge.
Once he arrived he placed Tommy back into his room. Then headed to Garrus' room. He didn't bother knocking, opening the door and standing over his brother.
"Ever gonna get up?" Leland asked him.
"Not until it's time to leave," Garrus responded.
"Why? Everyone else is up and about!" Leland said, "Hell even just going into the living room would be nice."
"I don't want to see mom," Garrus replied. Leland groaned before leaving the room, heading back to his library.
Richard finished the scroll as Leland entered and placed it back where he had found it before carefully taking another and starting to read it as well.
"Hello again Leland. I hope you don't mind me reading these ancient scrolls, but the history of most civilizations before the medieval era have lost much of the writings. The chance to read these histories, and learn so much about them is a temptation I cannot resist." He said without looking up from the scroll.
"That's no problem. Glad to share the knowledge. None of the books have bitten you or anything like that right?" Leland asked somewhat jokingly, taking a seat at the round table.
"Haven't gotten to books yet, stuck with scrolls. Books aren't as old as the scrolls, within each scroll is a history nobody else knows of. While that may hold true with the books as well, it is doubly true for the scrolls." Richard replied, still reading the scroll.
"All right. Just give me a moment," Katie answered, quickly creating a second plant-glove for her other hand and pulling it on. She tested them out briefly, opening and closing her hands, before she charged at Jason, one fist drawn back to hit him, the other brought up in case of a retaliatory strike.
Katie figured her thorns might be able to damage his armour, but wasn't sure if they could pierce it. Maybe something similar to cactus spines might do better. Still, she could at least try.
"Well whenever you do decide to go onto the books, I advise you have me in the room...in case they attack," Leland said as he stood up. He was about to leave the library before turning around and adding, "They don't really like non-magical folk." With that he made his way to the exercise room. He was originally planning on going to the living room, but decided against it.
Garrus opened his door slowly, taking a peek into the hallway before leaving his room. As much as he didn't want to go out he also was starting to feel extremely hungry. It was a tough choice, but his stomach convinced him to leave.
He walked down the stairs past the living room, giving a nod to Requiem who beeped back at him as he went to the kitchen. As soon as he opened the door he closed it, having seen the one person he didn't want to. He tried to make his way back to his room as quickly as possible before a hand grabbed onto his shoulder, stopping him.
"Garrus...I really think we should talk," Camille told her son, turning him around to look at him.
"Well, maybe some other time. I was just-" he started before getting cut off.
"Just purposely staying in your room so that you wouldn't see me. I know. I also knew you'd get hungry sooner or later and stayed in the kitchen," she said.
"So you waited in there the whole day on the off chance of catching me?" Garrus asked back.
"Well no. I...well, my blood is still in you. So I kinda knew you were getting a bit hungry...so I just waited," she told him.
"Well, look I don't want to talk. So go back to whatever it was you were doing before you decided to wait for me," Garrus said walking past her and going into the kitchen. Camille watched him go before going to the greenhouse for a bit.
Jason quickly and fluidly dodged the strikes before backflipping to distance himself.
"Whoa whoa whoa Kate, no rushing! If you rush, the opponent will see you coming from a mile away." He said before getting into another fighting stance. He looked down to notice that her hands were laden with thorns.
"Geez, she isn't playing around. I reduce my defenses, and she strengthens hers. Well, at least she knows not to go easy on her opponent."He thought as he motioned for her to recommence.
As Aaron laid up against the wall he observed the fight. It was ok but nothing intresting. Just some flips and vines flying all over the place. He needed to find away to make it a little more intresting. It took him a minute to think of something.
"Hey Jason, what do you do when the...," Aaron paused and punched his fist into the ground breaking into the floor. A large ice spike shot out from underneath the floor right in between Katie and Jason.
With a "Whoa!" Katie leapt back, further into the centre of the gym, and shot a look at Aaron. His influence would make the battle interesting. She ran a branch from the back of each glove up her arms to meet at the base of her neck. The two continued to grow, running down her back and splitting to move down her legs. When they reached her feet, they wove themselves into boots and grew a trio of cactus spines from their toes. It was as if Katie was wearing an exoskeleton made of branches.
She waited for Jason to come to her, so she could counter his intended attacks.
Jason jumped back, being caught by suprise. Aaron's attack caused him to hold his head in annoyance, sighing as he did so. As he opened his eyes, he quickly noticed that more plant life covered Katie's body.
"Geez, so much hostility today!" He thought, taking a step forward.
"You're not gonna hit her, are you?" Erebus spoke out.
"What're you, crazy?! That goes against all of my moral codes. And she's my girlfriend, no less? No, i'm just gonna hafta try and restrain her, that's all." He thought back as he went towards her, Speedily darting in a zig-zag moment to make it hard for her to track his movements.
Jason's zig-zagging was slightly disorienting to Katie, but she held her ground, waiting for him to move within striking range. Hopefully Aaron wouldn't try to impale either of them again. Though perhaps some more spikes could be used to her advantage; she could lash vines around some if they were close together, giving the possibility of clotheslining Jason or trapping him with organic walls.
As Jason and Katie were dodging the large ice spike that emerged from the middle of the gym he quickly turned his whole body into organic ice. He slolwy made his way onto the main gym floor and looked at Jason speeding toward Katie. He froze the ground under him to see how that would play out.
