The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

"How the hell should I know Alister? I'm a physicist and engineer, I didn't even believe in magic until I met Leland and Tommy in that order. Ask Tommy all magic related questions, he is the designated magic expert." Richard replied before noticing Katie. He pushed past Tommy gently and walked over.

"Hey Katie, don't worry about it. We aren't singing showtunes, Leland hasn't shown himself, and I'm not strapped to a table shirtless with a buzz-saw cutting through my ribcage. This is actually pretty tame by illusion standards, for now we can continue on as if nothing happened until Leland shows up. It's actually pretty much our only option, so let's keep moving."

Garrus continued walking along, not noticing that everyone had stopped to talk. He did not even hear them as he walked distracted. It wasn't until he almost tripped on a raised rock that he noticed something, that his shoe and pants weren't wet at all.

"Uh guys, I think we might be-" he started as he turned around, Kate's hand covering his mouth and her dagger sliding inbetween his ribs. He tried to scream out, but realized that it was no use. He couldn't even see anyone else, and he doubted that they could even see him.

'Shit. Illusion, gotta get out of this myself,' he thought in a split second, sending a shockwave into Kate and knocking her back with a lot of force. 'Fucking hell, she's being controlled. This was all a set-up...fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck! I have to warn the others,' he thought to himself, leaning against the wall as he tried to make his way back to the others.

Alister shrugged. "Yeah, I should have figured as much. You guys are handling this all so poorly. I mean, the moment you get scared when magic's involved, everything goes tits-up. In the meantime, I think I'll be swinging at this wall until my sword eviscerates the illusion. Wish me luck."

He gripped his sword tightly, trying to activate the magical flow within. If that was even possible, that is. He swung it with all his might towards the wall, only for it to bounce off with a clang. Undeterred, he tried again, then again.. He got a momentum going and was swinging at the wall once very couple of seconds, determined to break the illusion through sheer force of will.

" On the short list of things not to do when your trapped in an illusion is to try and literaly 'bust out', a good illusionist like Leland will take advantage of the fact you're just swinging you're sword and could make you cut all sorts of things." Tommy tried to warn Alister.

Think, force of will didn't work last time, busting out is no way to go, especially when I don't know what or who I might be smashing, but every spell has a weakness no matter how powerful the mage, I just have to think about what kind of weakness Leland would accept in his spells.

 

[CounterAttack]

Katie didn't hear Richard's words; his mouth moved, but no sound came out. She felt the temptation to tell him she couldn't hear him, but resisted it. This is all Leland's doing, she thought. Richard wouldn't be doing that if it weren't for a reason. Besides, I can't lip-read. Katie closed her eyes, trying to find a way to shatter the illusion by remembering previous events. The rat, the lightbulbs, Garrus stepping in a puddle...

But then, who was to say that such things had actually existed in the first place? She didn't know.

Alister's flailing of his sword did nothing but make him a target. The random leaks around him were starting to pour out more water, until a huge torrent came down upon him. It engulfed him in a fluid movement, dragging him away from the others through the many tunnels. It forced him into the walls, not giving him a chance to try and get out from inside it.


Garrus collapsed, no longer sure what to do. He had been walking for what felt like hours, not finding a sign of everyone. 'Fuck, I'm not sure if we're all right next to each other or we really are in a sewer being lost and hunted,' he thought, turning a corner and seeing Kate in front.
"Can...do nothing. No...control," she managed to say to him as she charged, Garrus barely managing to dodge.

Richard looked up when he heard the torrent of water.

"Shit. Everyone be ready, expect an attack from any and all sides. It's just us four now, I can't see Garrus and Alister got dragged off, we're on our own." Richard noticed Katie hadn't responded so he typed something up on the display he used for Requiem.

'Katie, do you think you can get a wall around us? Make it as tight as possible while still allowing movement, and make sure it covers all walls, the ceiling, and the floor.' He turned to Tommy.

"We need to figure something out. Since Leland is under Omoi's control, would that have an effect on his power? Especially if Leland is resisting the control with everything he has."

 

[CounterAttack]

Katie quickly scanned the display, nodded and set to work immediately. She expanded the buds grown from her hands, exploded them into life and began to weave the results into a large section of thick vine-and-bark wall. She pushed it a couple of feet away from the group, then forced it to grow even larger to seal off that end of the sewers.

Once the wall completely blocked any forward progress, Katie continued to grow the wall to enclose the group, forming a room of sorts. She opted to cover the walls in plant matter as well, helped a bit by the layers of fungi growing out of them. About a minute later she had sealed the group into the small area.

That's right, Leland will be resisting.

"There will be a way for us to get out, something, Leland will have made a way for us to get out, the trouble is figuring out what it is, could be anything."

 

[tsatoma]

A loud ringing started to fill the ears of those in the plant box, growing louder and louder until it reached near deafening volumes. Sensor approached them slowly, not exactly sure what to do just yet. He continued laying down the high-pitched noise as he was told.

Garrus looked around him, silently cursing at himself for allowing himself to take this much damage. He looked over at the unconscious body of Kate, having defeated her after a few more stabbings. He continued watching before seeing as many cuts and scrapes suddenly appeared on her. He watched as the walls around him became cleaner, with light appearing on them. He looked towards the direction the light was coming from, seeing an open door and a figure.

"Well fuck, guess I just have shitty luck then," he managed to say with a chuckle as the figured he knew was his brother approached, everything going black as a powerful kick was sent flying down onto his head.

Richard turned off the sound to his helmet, he wouldn't be able to hear anything, but with the ringing it would be the same either way. He immediately punched a message for katie into the display.

'open hole in wall where sound is coming from, will distract. Work with Tommy, Jason, and Alister. Find way out, hurry.'

 

[CounterAttack]

"Right," Katie quickly said as she began to pinpoint the source of the noise. Finding it a few seconds later, she split the wall open and quickly rushed through the gap, vines extending from her fingers. Nothing untoward was in sight, just more of the same sewers.

Richard ran through the hole and charged sensor, catching him in a tackle, he carried the man a ways until he smashed him up against a wall. Richard then grabbed him by the neck of sensor's shirt and tossed him against the opposite wall. He charge in to attack with blades ready.

Alister rose to his feet, sputtering water from every orifice. He shook himself a bit to get the last remnants of it off. "Guess that didn't work." he muttered, trying to get a sense of where he was.

Sensor managed to pick himself up after the throw, barely having time to recover before seeing Richard charge at him. He looked over to the right and smiled as Paul Dagger intercepted Richard sending him into one of the walls, but not before Paul had a chance to paint a symbol on the outside of Richard's helmet. He muttered a chant before the symbol exploded, causing debris to fly everywhere.


A pillar of water formed in front of Alister, a torso emerging out of it. "You would do best to just give up and let the water over take you now," said a deep, calm voice that was coming from the pillar.

Richard was officially pissed, but he did his best to keep himself in check. The explosion left a scorch mark on the helmet but hadn't done much other than strip the paint away.

"Oh I love when you guys think a simple explosion will stop me. Especially love seeing your faces when you realize just how hard it will actually be to kill me." Richard said before charging out of the smoke with blades extended, he wouldn't kill them, but he'd definitely hurt them. He slashed Paul dagger's leg as ran by, it wouldn't incapacitate him, just hurt. The blades retracted as he got himself more under control and used all the power the hydrolics could put behind a punch that hit sensor.

"Guess...stronger...needed," Paul spat out, putting some markings on Sensor who suddenly seemed to be enveloped with rage. He went after Richard with furious might, throwing him into the walls and pipes of the sewer. Paul used this time to slip back into the shadows, waiting to strike again.

Richard was thrown around in the suit, he was a little disoriented as he got back up on his feet and charged Sensor. He ran up and was able to land a kick that sent sensor flying int the nearest wall. He followed it up with a charge that had the both of them barreling through, once they were through the wall he used the momentum to let sensor fall and used the knee of the suit to bash him in the face as he continued past him. He turned around and faced sensor letting his blades slip out. Figuring if they were going to try and kill him he would at least try to disable them. Camille could always heal any non-fatal damage later, he figured.

Tommy rushed to Richard's aid, punching Sensor in the gut with enough force to send him flying down the corridor, bouncing off the walls and floor until he came to stop and then got back up.

"Richard, this is what they want to happen, for us to wear ourselves out fighting these guys, we need to find out what's the exit Leland left us before we're all dead." He said as he stood back to back with Richard as he got ready for the next attack.

Think Tommy, think, it would be something obscure, that Omoi wouldn't think of, but something that we would all recognize. Come on Leland, couldn't you have left me hint? I suck at puzzles.

"Fine, go find it. The suit does most of the work in a fight anyway, I can fight for at least a few days continuously. I'll be extremely tired at the end of it, but a little scuffle like this is nothing, especially since they keep underestimating me." Richard replied before charging back towards Sensor with the blades at the ready.
