Seriously...just lock this.
Well actually the reason I made this was because I have a Wii and I'm trying to justify it's existence, of course I'm not above taking a cheap shot at it though. So why do you want this locked? No one else does, and you haven't even given a reason.

You can't say they don't exist, some people play games casually. That means that they are casual gamers.
Gamer - Noun

One who plays games.

Therefore, anyone who plays games is a gamer. Adding a prefix is idiotic. We are gamers, and that should be the only thing we care about; if we waste time bitching over prefixes, we waste valuable gaming time. So if you have the time to ***** about casual gamers, you're a damn casual gamer too, because you'd rather waste time bitching about casual gamers than gaming.
-_-

Therefore, anyone who is a gamer is a person. We are people, and that should be the only thing we care about.

I'm sorry, I just assumed that people who don't play well, don't play much, or play casually.
It makes sense to me...

No More Heroes was an amazing game. Perhaps even worth picking up a Wii for.
That and Mario Galaxy.

No. You do not /conversation. That is fucking rude. If you don't want to talk, then you don't reply. You don't stoop to being rude.

Yes, anyone who is a gamer is a person. They're all people, and you should care that they're people, in that you should love your fellow man. You don't discriminate against people for being homosexual, do you? Why should you be an asshole to someone because they have a Wii?

What, exactly, to people have against the Wii? They claim that there are no games for it; Well, yeah, if you buy a game every week. They claim the motion controls are idiotic and require ridiculous arm-flailing; No, not really. Just increase the sensitivity of the Wiimote, and you can just barely move the Wiimote and get the same reaction as swinging like a madman.

Ninety percent of the claims against the Wii are bullshit with no backing.

Sigh. There isn't such thing as a casual gamer.
Yes there is... It's a person who plays games casually. If you only play video games once a week, you're a pretty damn casual gamer. The distinction between casual and hardcore is in a completely different area from where you think it is.

OT:I never saw why everyone hated the Wii (other than the more than slightly broken motion sensing at launch). I bought the Wii expecting more Smash bros, Metroid, and Zelda. All of those things exist on the Wii, so I am perfectly happy with it.

You're right, that was rude of me. The Wii is the only console I have. I kind of did this as a way to get a few jokes out of it, and find some useful things to do with it.

Hahahaha, you said the Wii is bad, you're so clever and original. [/sarcasm]

On topic, number 1, don't make flamebait threads, please.

Number 2, the wii brings in a new crowd of gamers. It brings in casual gamers and nongamers. The X-box and PS3, (and PC) tend to market to people who are already gamers. Thus, they do not bring in new gamers, which the wii does. Now, if gaming never brings in new gamers then as old gamers leave the whole market will implode on itself. Thus, the Wii brings in the lifeblood of new gamers.

Number 3, It has motion controls. When it first came out, it took the leap and invested in the risky business of innovating in motion control. Now that it has been established that motion controls can work even Microsoft and Sony are unveiling there own new motion controls.

Number 4, It makes an excellent paperweight. (Kidding). As noted above, the wii brings in non-gamers. As more people are brought in, the culture of gaming tends to be less of a minority. As it becomes less of a minority it gets less misunderstood (double negative!) and people tend to fear and hate it less.

Number 5, It's a good kids system. It has more family friendly games then the X-box and PS3.

Number 6, It's cheap.

Wow, this is harder then I thought. Although, Number 7, It has SSBB, Zelda, and metroid.

Yeah, the wii is epic... EPIC FAIL!
The only good thing about it is that you can go onto the internet on it. THATS IT oh, and super smash bros brawl.

Well, after like 3 or 4 beers, the wii games are actually pretty fun. No thinking just button mashing with friends on brawl. Sheesh you try playing COD4/5 when you're loaded... I was like a slow motion bullet magnet...

1.I'm really just looking for stuff to do with my Wii, that's why I asked for positive remarks. It's fun to laugh at the Wii, you can't deny that.

2.Yes, yes it does.

3. Yes, yes it does, but it came out before the system was ready. (i.e. Advanced Motion Control)

4. Okay, but where did you hear that?

5. True

6. Not so much anymore.

It has some good first party titles and the virtual console is pretty nifty.

I like it for the following reasons; The controller can fit in my hands, and although the 360 can do this, it's arguable. Sometimes the 360 controller feels wonky to me. Don't get me started on the PS3. I like the motion control, and don't mind fiddling with control styles to fit me.

A console isn't like a team. It's not only as strong as its weakest link, it's as strong as it's best games. No More Heroes, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, etc. Not to mention both total backwards compatability, AND virtual console. Basically, in the next few years, we'll probably be able to play almost every Nintendo game on the Wii. That's kinda' cool. Though actually, might not happen.

I like its features and apps. Like the forecast, news, internet of course. In fact, I'd be able to type and browse and everything on my Wii if I wanted to. One window at a time, but that's damn impressive none the less.

For its size+weight - quality ratio, not bad. Not bad at all.

I could afford it when it came out. I know they're bumping down the PS3's, and the Xbox 360s are only a bit more expensive, but it still ranks low on the price scale.

Admittedly, I only own a Wii at this moment, but as I generally don't like FPSs, some of the mainstream and popular, or exclusive games for other consoles wouldn't be as worth it for me as the Wii's, seeing as a good percentage of them are FPSs. I know there are plenty that aren't, but you get the drift. Again though, a console is only as good as its best games. Or at least, the games the user enjoys most. Hell, I've been looking lovingly at that Deadly Creatures game. The one where you're either a spider or scorpion? I think that's an interesting thing, and I liked playing some of it at EB Games. I thought it was fun.

The Wii has a fighting chance, if people look at the good points of it. And it has some damn good good points. How's the Xbox 360's backwards compatability? The PS3 have full backwards? I forget. Even so, I still can barely manage a bloody PS3 controller, and overlooking that, I find its features are useful and entertaining, and add more purpose, along with its new cheaper price. Though I worry my dog may try to kill it.

On the list of current gen consoles, the Wii and its features still ranks highest for me, with PS3 rigth behind it, and Xbox 360 sometimes overlapping PS3.

I'm trying to get in touch with a guy who knows a lot about computers and crap. I'm looking at some ideas for console concepts and game design software. I wonder if I could make an idea out of that...

Or not, but it'd be fun to see.

EDIT: To clarify, I like the Wii, and you can only judge a console based on what you like best about it, not what's worst about it. Unless that trait is mandatorally enforced. I.e., if you don't liek motion control, you can blame it for that. If you don't like one of the games, don't get it. My opinion is voiced.

In regards to number 4: I didn't hear it anywhere, I know it. As more people become or experience (or even just see) gaming and realize that its not a mass murder simulator, they will be less quick to blame stuff on games. Ignorance tends to be what makes people blame games (that and stupidity, but that can't be fixed) so exposing people to games will help to correct this problem. The wii is marketed to non-gamers and thus exposes these people to gaming. Therefor, the Wii is helping to dispel the bad stereotypes surrounding gameing. Not to mention that the wii's cutsy games act as a good counter to the idea that all games are couter-strike and halo.

Alright, anyone else in here getting a bit psyched about No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle? There's a reason to buy the Wii. It seems to be fixing most, if not all, the minor little flaws in NMH1.

Sorry for the mostly irrelevant post. It had to be said.
