Now that's a lot of pokemon. Having said that, I would rather they expanded the move-set and the capabilities of existing pokemon. I know that pokemon can be considered "deep" by many players who do things like min/maxing and stat analysis and EV values and all that stuff, but instead of just making MORE pokemon, couldn't they instead focus their efforts at making the world a bit deeper?
I know that it has to appeal to kids, so there's a limit on what they can do, and I'm aware that it has to be on a hand-held, so again, there's a limit to how much they can improve the graphics. But I still think they could take greater risks with the formula.
Maybe when the 3DS comes out, we'll finally get a Pokemon game that can really push the boundaries. I'm not hopeful, because when you've got a proven money-spinner, there's little incentive to push the envelope, but at leas the possibility will be there.
The Pokemon series are great, especially for those who are young. I certainly enjoyed Blue and Silver, and I had a lot of fun playing and trading with my Brother. But it's a little too stale for me, and I just don't have the time to invest in Pokemon anymore, especially if the experience I get is very similar to the experience I got from the older games.
