Woo! go Germany!
only been to the capital once. quite nice, even though it was snowing half the time :p
some really good stuff there... if only other countries were a bit more like germany...
Well, you should definitely visit the Eifel, Blackforest, Bavaria (preferably the Alps or, if you're more into cities, Munich). Berlin is a nice city (especially considering its history), but there are far more beautiful spots in this country. Glad you liked it, though. :)
If you visit the Odenwald, you can even visit my favorite brewery, take the tour and get drunk.

Which is nice.
we really do have good country side in the UK.

ot: in england we have good cake that makes me feel very proud and prince william for obvious reasons and the fact that he will actually be a good king when his times comes, he does a ton of charity work and seems rather down to earth.

He's not that bad. Especially in comparison to say Bush or Berlusconi. Plus he's going to be replaced with a blubbering, jowl flapping tory-boy in a few months. I think we'll all start to miss old one eye after that!
i actually choked laughing when i read that but its so true. Boris would be better in my opinion at least it would be funny cameron and brown are a tad too serious

In conjunction with the shame thread, I thought I'd make a thread that highlights the more positive aspects of your country. What makes you proud of your country? Don't forget to mention the name of your country as well (mine is Belgium).

Well, we did invent the chips (or also called French fries) and we have the best frigging chocolate in the world.

Oh, and we're also proud of Kim Clijsters. At least some Belgian pride that puts our tiny country on the map.
Man i looooove belgian chocolate....i was in bruge a few years ago and Oh My God....aaaaanyway on to my humble abode....Ireland.

Emmmmm for a tiny country we have some deadly sports people......including Ali apparantly (we find tenuous links to famous people and claim them as our own.)

Weve also came out the far side of the trouble, we still have a long way to go, but im proud that were finally on our way towards peace.....and we didnt have to invade half the world to do it(just kidding;)

Whilst my country (England) has had an amazing past, both with regards to achievements (the empire) and people (Shakespeare, Dickens, Darwin etc), I feel that we haven't done any thing of merit in the last 50 years. In my opinion we are a small, insignificant country that has delusions of grandeur. Europe hates us because we care more about our relationship with America than with them and I doubt the US really gives a shit what we want/ think.

resisted the forces of tyranny whilst our allies failed or hid.

And I'll damned if we're ever openly proud of any of it!

Go Britain!
And we (Canada, plus other commonwealth) helped.

Also, penicillin, the zipper, and the snowmobile, which has been chorinating the Northern Hemisphere's gene pool for decades.

And from what I've heard, it's still broad daylight there at 11 PM in the summer. That just has to be impressive to watch.

Lot of stuff was invented by hungarians. Like the concept of the way a computer works. Or the hydrogen bomb... wait I'm not proud of that.

I proud to live in the home state of Duck Tape, Bob Dylan, Roller Blades, and the .50 caliber Desert Eagle (Minnesota). I really don't have much to say about the US as a whole.
