I have not lost faith in humanity.

I liked MW2, both single and multiplayer.

I'm not a Grammar or Searchbar Nazi.

I am not a huge fan of anime or manga.

I don't hate things.

I think Halo is a pretty cool dude.

Other than that I don't think I go against the Escapist stereotype. I'm atheist, male, an avid gamer, and I'm a bit elitist. Then of course I don't even fully realize what the "Escapist Stereotype" is. It has something to do with the subjects I mentioned but beyond that, I have no idea.

Pielikey, is there anything you don't hate?
You know what he don't hate?
He don't hate vests!
(I literally just created an account so I could say that.)

On topic though, I thought COD4 was good...
...does that count?

Escapist Steryotype? .-. There's no steryotype.
General opinions aren't steryotypes.
This.

I mean, if you really tried, you could say everyone one the escapist is more mature on average, but that's not a bad stereotype, if you could consider it as one.

I like JRPGs and actually find the Fallout series extremely boring.
I'd agree with you for the first 2 games; while I'm loving New Vegas, even with its assortment of bugs, I just can't get into Fallout 2.

Also, because of several posts here, I'll say that about a year or so (probably more) ago, liking anime/manga would've made you a bit of an exception around here. Amazing how things change.

I wasn't aware the Escapist had a stereotype, but then perhaps I don't spend enough time in the forums to be aware of one - thereby probably excluding me from the stereotype? =P

I don't need to create Justin Bieber, Twilight and related topics in the forum in order to indulge in others hatred alongside my own.

I don't need advice with women.
I don't feel the need to keep updating my current zombie apocalypse plan.
I'm under no illusion that that is the "Last bastion of intelligence on the internet"
I like WoW.
I don't hate Bobby Kotick.
I listen to hiphop, electro, dubstep. (I'm a baller)
Edward Cullen is my homeboy.

Well, I don't hate the universe/my life, I'm not a whiney, entitled brat, I'm not a PC elitist, I don't like any kind of metal music, I actually enjoy some rap, I think Halo (any of them, except ODST) is one of the best games of all time, I liked MW2, even the multiplayer for a while (BEFORE everyone unlocked dual wielding shotguns), I'm not a furry, I hate almost everything Japanese, and, oh, I don't try to relate EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PIECE OF NEWS that surfaces to the defense of games. Seriously, guys. Back off. You're just making asses of yourselves when a news story like, for example "A 13 year old boy was strangled by his father" or something and one of the first comments is "I wonder how some moron will make this about games being evil! DUH-HUR!"

Well I'm not posting a bunch of stuff about opinions and labels for one thing, but anywho:

I'm Catholic
I'm not bisexual or asexual
I'm an "optimist"
I don't have aspergers syndrome
I haven't watched much anime and I doubt I ever will
I love kids
I haven't watched fight club
I like 4chan, when I'm not visiting I'm looking up epic threads
I never, ever cared for the pokemon games
I didn't like Mass Effect
The Halo series has a special place in my heart
I've never much cared for metal
I wouldn't give my left nut to see Firefly back on television even though I liked it
I like to socialise
I enjoy some sports

But to be honest every time I think this place has gone to the dogs and the forums have lost the appeal that once bought me to them a thread comes along which shatters these fears and keeps my love for this place going.

Edit: Wait, why are people listing liking anime and jrpgs as traits that go against the escapist stereotype, if anything this place is filled with people who like them there japanimations and such.

Escapist stereotype? What would that be like? I thought we're a mix of oppinions, races, genders, religions, favorite fruits, etc.
I guess I don't really like Bioware. I don't really hate them, but I have yet to see what makes them so perfect.
I'm not a huge PC gamer.
I thought Bioshock 2 was okay.
I don't really think there is a stereotype for us. *in ridiculous accent* "WE'RE SO COOL!"

It's pretty much elitism & egotism. Insufferable elitism & egotism.
It's not egotism if you're right...

One thing I keep seeing which is making me laugh is "I like JRPGs", sorry guys but that's part of the stereotype (at least in my opinion). Just because Yachtzee hates them doesn't mean the escapist people do. In fact "I like JRPGs" and japanese stuff in general is one of the most common things I've seen people claiming as "unique".

Anyway basically I don't like JRPGs and I'm not a big fan of japanese culture.

...that's all I can think of. Aside from intellect bordering on arrogance and artsyness and JRPGs and loving Japanese culture in general I can't think of any other stereotypical properties of the escapists.

Oh and what pararaptor said, elistism and egotism. I've got a fair helping of those.

Aaaand seconded.

Seriously, the man made The Rock and other fairly enjoyable movies among that, I don't get what the problem is with his movies.

Also:
- I love Modern Warfare 2
- I found GTA IV to be far superior to San Andreas
- I can't get into Mass Effect
- I don't hate Kane & Lynch at all
- I actually like sports
- Avatar was an insufferably horrible movie (Pretty sure I'm not in that much of a minority now, but I was before).

Care to provide an example of the universal truth the people on the Escapist possess?

Well, that sentence kinda confused me, but if by your sentence you meant "give us an example of this" then I shall give you one. Some people might think I'm egotistical because I think I'm so awesome. But if I am that awesome they are wrong.

Well, he said that our stereotypes were/came from elitism and egotism. Then you said that it's not egotism if you're right.

By that I assumed that you meant that people on the Escapist are right so there's no egotism.

If that's not what you meant, sorry.

I work for a living, have my own house, car, wife. So maybe I just don't fit the 'gamer' steriotype, which would be most Escapists people. Oh and I don't enjoy a single music based game like Guitar Hero or Rock Bank like things.
