Probably the things that everyone hates the most.

Escort missions, bleh.
This.
I can't count how many games I stopped playing because I got tired of the hemophiliac baby that I had to carry through paper-cut valley dying on me.

What am I sick of seeing in games? Multi-platform games where the PC version has a console interface - Crap UI, messed-up camera, few-to-zero keybinds, and limited graphics customisation (e.g. Fixed at widescreen rez). Desktops and consoles have different input devices, what works great on one platform is not hot on the other (e.g. Deus Ex 2, Assassins Creed, Deadspace, Fallout 3).

DRM. I got so fed up of having to use a CD because the publisher was insecure that I actually stopped buying physical copies of games. If I cant download it and install it as often as I like, I dont buy it.

Winning being the only option. In too many games, if you lose all your health, or your base gets destroyed, or you squad is wiped out, its game over. The ones where you can lose and not be kicked to the menu (e.g. UFO: Enemy Unknown), losing is typically a disaster that cannot be recovered from. Even games like Mount & Blade or Oblivion, where if you lose you can get taken prisoner and can escape later, they dont go far enough. But it cant just be endless storyless skirmishes like in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, the game has to handle it better than that.

Cover systems.

Gears of War is a good game, I get it. But there's no need to try and force every other game to cram in a stupid cover system. If you like cover systems like in RNBW6 or Gears...then go play them and leave other games like Call of Duty alone. A cover system would very likely be the DEATH of the Call of Duty series, even if the immaculate Infinity Ward is behind the wheel.

Super badass/mute marine/soldier/fighter/heroes in any kind of war (WW2, Aliens, Dinosaurs) with generic faces fitting the white american role model, always blubbering about patriotism, how tough they are and how they will kill everyone questioning their values.

I am so goddamn tired of them!
So basically gears, turok, and halo?

Yep. And you can easily add Call of Duty, F.E.A.R., Rainbow Six, FarCry and Crysis

A lack of decent local multiplayer. For example, in player/social games on Gears of War you could have your friend join in with you online. But they took it out on GoW2, which sucks.

This isn't really so much as what I don't want in a game but rather what isn't in games enough: open world deathmatch.
This is a bit different than how it sounds. Basically you can leave the level just by walking out into, say, the desert surroundings. An example of this would be Black Hawk Down for the Xbox. Not only is it possible to leave the town that the match takes place in (and snipe from the hills if you think like I do) but it's possible to go on pretty much forever if you just keep walking, although no one I've ever met has that much patience.

But what I AM sick of seeing is shitty silencer/stealth mechanics. Although we've come along way since the uselessness of the first Rainbow Six's silenced guns, the whole concept has never been totally mastered.

Mute, faceless characters. It's really hard to care for the protagonist, if he doesn't say a single word throughout the game. It kills the immersion. It's not so unbelieveably difficult and expensive to hire a voice actor.
I think a lot of people do it now because of Gordon Freeman. Also the bad voice actor issue. Plus if they don't have a voice and it's first person you can pretend it's yourself and feel smug.

Text-based stories. NO MORE. I WANT AT LEAST A NARRATION.
Ever play Bard's Tale? I fucking loved that game and its narration. Maybe I was the only one though.

I'm also sick of completely endless button mashing (see RE5 when hanging from a cliff and having to spam A for what feels like an hour) and big macho characters who lactate testosterone. Main characters can't all be like that; it gets obscenely boring. Can't we have a 'Shaun of the Dead' Simon Pegg or Rogen-Franco duo like in 'Pineapple Express'? I'm also sick of seeing Master Chief.

I was going to use big breasted women as an example of things I'm sick of, but you know I think I and indeed everyone else has mentioned enough now to make eyeballs bleed so I won't use it. Instead I'll say something I am really sick of is wars based in a modern era, no matter how they vary from title to title I am really sick of modern warfare. I was sick of it back when people were still drooling about Call of Duty 4 and I am sick of it now. They all feel a wee bit too similar to each other and to be honest when I think of them as a franchise (Clancy games included by the way) I kind of like to think of them less as individual titles and more or less merged into one game and I shall bestow to it the title CALL OF GRITTY AMERICAN HEROISM AND BORDEM WARFARE DUTY 1,000,000.
(please don't get mad at what is essentially my view)

But that's me, what are you sick of seeing in games?
Sick of seeing someone bash on another counties using the hero theme to sell a game. Cause you know Call of Duty Coward in the trench and fear for you life would be better. You should see the middle eastern games of them mythicly bombing New York, London, ect to sell a game. And they don't even have a past of large scale conflict with a superpower but in the video games they are the heroes knocking out anything non-muslim like everyone else knocks out a nazi.

The cliche is the death of all gaming. Thing is when someone takes a chance makes a game, everyone copies them for no reason other than hope they will make money and one day take a risks so the cycle continues.

I for one am sick of RPG's that have no role to play other than some murderous nobody in the name of good, but some how because you have a sword and are fighting a dragon you get some DND grandfathering because you look like a roleplaying character. IE Diablo, Warcraft...

The old fallout series was alot better on this since the consquences of actions were taken into accound and you could be blasted entering a city just cause they know you wiped out two villiages and aren't letting your murderous ass in.

Mindless violence gets old...

Power Armor being underwhelming, as supposedly the Master Chief is some sort of super-man thing in uber-armor, and yet he cant take a hit from an atv going at 15 kph, have perhaps night-vision or a flashlight battery that can't last longer than 15 seconds, and can only carry 2 flippin weapons at once! I want to see a decent Starship Troopers game, with an orbital drop at the beginning of each level, massive power armor that has jump-jets, tons of weapons and gadgets, and shoots nuclear missiles out of their nipples!

Aliens, the colors brown, black, and gray, military shooters, health regeneration, terrible plots, realism, WWII games that star the Americans (Hooray for Red Orchestra :D), and the lack of clothes on people.

I am sick of the same thing over and over again. Its like they are afraid to make original games out of fear they wont sell. We need more original ideas like Portal and Mirror's Edge.
+1. those were both great games. Id like to see a game where you are a beaver, who must destroy other beavers by throwing Ants at them, and the ants slowly eat them alive. Happy days.

Drastic story line changes.

Rough example:

You area gruff and tough cop who is in the middle of taking down a crime boss who murdered your family... then all of a sudden you find out the crime boss is really a member of a ancient evil society hell bent on the domination of earth, and you find out the only reason he kiled your family is because he wanted you dead because you are the chosen one he and his ilk have been warned of for centuries. oh but wait you also find out you can shoot lightning our of your hands and can fly.

I hate it when games do this, and the worst is when it's without warning!!

Buggy games with constant updates.

TAKE THE TIME TO FINISH A GAME AND IRON THE PROBLEMS OUT. Don't make the public your fucking beta testers and then face them with a firing squad of updates.

DLC!!!! Nuff said

LOCKED CONTENT on the disc you have to pay to unlock (re5 reference)

IF its on the disk, you bought the disk, you should not have to pay to unlock more things already on the fucking disc you bought!!!
