I like environmentalism, and standing up for humanity and decency. Apparently this makes me a "try hard".

The fact that such a phrase can even become an insult is a testament to how popular apathy has, very sadly, become these days.

These beliefs will probably become more fashionable as people realise that all of this so-called "vague hippy stuff" actually effects them directly.

Hair.

More specifically I get the occasional random insult from people, "people" in this context being strangers and dickheads, because I have long(and quite frankly, bitchin')hair.

I've never understood the reason for the hair hate....
I get a similar response for my dreads, it's okay though.

It's almost an idiot repellent, since totally straight people with a "you're different therefore you are a druggie" attitude won't even hang out with you if you have hair like mine.

Then there's the people who say "you have dreads? You're awesome." Which sort of makes up for the insults from the rest.

Just look at Slumdog Millionaire. I still can't understand why that movie got the Oscar.
I liked that movie. I don't know if it was Oscar worthy or not, but it was fun to watch in my opinion.
But I didn't watch the Oscars, so I don't know what it won.

All I know is I wanted District 9 to win. But it didn't.

I get shit for listening to Frank Sinatra and some opera. Yes, opera. Most of my friends listen to metal, and I do too, but I prefer to branch out a little.

I'm not saying it was a bad movie, it was good, but just about all the other movies Danny Boyle made were better than Slumdog Millionaire.

People seem to think that it was just a small time Indian movie and that's why it deserves the Oscar. No it wasn't. The movie was made by an English guy and an English company using India as a setting with Indian actors.

28 Days Later was more worth of an Oscar than that was.

A lot of my friends make fun of me for body building. They call me a workout junky but I'm still a geek at heart.

Sunshine was also really good too. But that wasn't even touched on by the public consciousness.

People make fun of me for generally liking animated films better than most other movies.

I also get made fun of for liking anything related to Star Wars. (And considering Knights of the Old Republic is my favorite game...)

Oh, God I love that movie.

Easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm amazed that wasn't acknowledged by the Academy.

Oh wait, no I'm not. :p

I often get insulted for enjoying rap music. I listen to everything from the mainstream (Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, etc.) to the underground (Aesop Rock, Dilated Peoples, etc.) and all I hear is "They're not artists, it's all about money and hoes, they're just talking to a beat, blah blah blah."

That last argument makes me wonder what they think about spoken word albums.

People who insult stuff that I like to do lose their status as my friends, or really as people that I consider worth talking to. Its really that simple.

The most common reason is for some of my personal... quirks. I'm a little crazy.
Grrrr, all your posts are so mysterious and vague, it drives me nuts :(. One of these days my curiosity is going to drive me to kidnapping you in order to get some answers.

OT: I used to get insulted in Guild Wars all the time for not taking the game "seriously" enough. I was pretty carefree and just there to have fun for the most part but my friends were super duper hardcore so it seemed to bother them quite a bit.
Wha? What do you mean?

I've been called a "fag" before because I enjoy smooth jazz and games that aren't MW2 by some of the other students at my school.

That and far more offensive names, of course.

Reading, and soccer/football (Y'know, unless America is in the World Cup).

And while I haven't been insulted yet, I can just picture getting a lot of shit for my enjoyment of Shakespeare.

EDIT: I'll also add the Twilight Zone, film noir, and...
