Lemme tell you something buddy.

Fans will complain about EVERYTHING.
If someone changes something it suck, if nothing is changed it sucks, if they re-release a game everyone has wanted some fans will still whine and say it sucks.

So just ignore them, and if you enjoy the game then that's all that matters.
Arguing with fans like the ones your angry with will get you nowhere.
SO to keep your fans happy you must release something, pull it off the markets after it, go bankrupt, lose the rights to the Franchises IT and "Secret Data" in to some gutter while being hazzed from all the buckets of coke that the game sold for and never talk about it again? There can be no sequels, nothing can be changed nor re-released.
Its a good thing developers don't listen to most fans isn't it?
seriously, people will complain about ANYTHING.
Sure not everyone is like that.
But a vocal minority will never be happy.
Sonic and Zelda are both franchises with fans like that.

He looks younger with a different hairstyle and colour.

If you look at his facial features he actually looks pretty similar.

Alright, I knoew you are all so very pissed off about Dante's new look and the game, and everything. But the game hasn't come out yet, so please don't knock it.

And don't yell at me for not being a fan, because I'm a major DMC fanatic: I have all the books, beaten DMD mode on all games but 4, and watch the anime all the time. I spent many days looking for DMC5 info, and at first, I was very saddened and upset about the change, but looking at it now, it's not so bad.
Well, I'm a DMC but also a Silent Hill fan. I had to go through that same, should I say, problem during the development of Silent Hill - Shattered Memory. It was a also a reboot of the main franchise. I did keep my cool (Pun intended) and waited to play the game. They Failed. They utterly and totally Failed. Yes, Failed with a capital F. They took out the feeling that the town is dangerous, or that it played with you. It even went as far as telling that it's all in Heather's Head. It was a massive kick in the ball with Iron spiked boots. The problem with DMC?

Psychosis?

Time into video: 1.16 minutes.

During a second encounter with a group of "Marionettes", Dante can be seen kneeling and clutching his head in pain, with sudden flashes of brain scans visible before the scene shifting back to the interrogation room. This could perhaps imply that Dante is not mentally stable and what he believes to be happening may not be.
It may be because I am into the whole punk look, or because I was beginning to lose a little love for Dante when they kicked him out of the spotlight in four and made him seem like a mentor and random add-in.
Truthfully, i don't care what he look like. Seriously! Thing is, there's 2 thing that make Dante himself: Demonic Power (aka: Shape shift into a demon form) and Bad Ass attitude. I don't see both but it still pretty early in development.
Plus, change wasn't so bad: They obviously ran out of ideas. They weren't even taking things from Dante's Inferno (the 700 year old book, not the game) anymore. They were pulling shit out of their asses now. So this new thing may be just what Devil May Cry needed. I added the Dante's Inferno thing, because it was the basis for many of the characters and ideas for the original Devil May Cry games.
So what? Dante did pull those circle of hell right out of his ass you know. A little creative essence didn't hurt. They could make Beholders as long as they give it a cool demonic name and Change his appearance to reflect a sort of sin and i would be happy. Still, they all fit in either the bible or any descriptions of hell that existed. Case and point: Beelzebub is often considered another nickname for Satan while in fact it's supposed to be a Lesser demon that kill people with pestilence using bug. Yup, he's the Bug Demon. Bug or Were-bug (Were mean human) that you see in some DMC game come from that little piece of trivia. It's also the very first monster you see in the Comic adaptation of the first game.

I like this new, hard ass, punky Dante. And until I have played the game I refuse to ***** and whine and beg for the old Dante back, because I have seen people do this only to look like idiots when they enjoy the game. I am only saying that this game looks cool, and at least they kept Dante's bad assedness. They could have made him a pussy that didn't know how to use a bread knife, let alone a morphing sword.

Plus, change wasn't so bad: They obviously ran out of ideas. They weren't even taking thigns from Dante's Inferno (the 700 year old book, not the game) anymore. They were pulling shit out of their asses now. So this new thing may be just what Devil May Cry needed.

EDIT: I added the Dante's Inferno thing, because it was the basis for many of the characters and ideas for the original Devil May Cry games.
No.

I mean, I get the whole trying to do something new, but what I don't think you understand is that they also changed his personality.

Watch the trailer. What's the first thing you see him do? Stare at the camera. In an angsty way. Next we see him... smoking? Since when does Dante smoke? Okay... Then he puts the thing out in the face of some monster. The entire time he's got this ":|" look on his face, like he's having a bad day. Now, he takes care of the rest of them fine. Although he keeps that "I'm not having a good day" expression on his face. Then at the end, he finally cracks a smile.

So, since when has that been his personality? At all? Never.
But...this is him AS A KID.
Someones personality can change.
And im pretty sure that that's gonna happen during the game.
And besides...all i got from him during that fight was a "i don't give a fuck" attitude.
He did look bored, but he was still a sadistic badass during the fight.

Okay, now, beyond that, his entire face has changed. He doesn't even look like the same person. So, it's not just his shitty outfit, it's not just his fucked up hair, it's not just the personality, or his mopey expression, it's the whole damn thing! Let's be honest, Dante MADE the DMC games. I doubt I would've found any of them fun if we were playing as this punk the entire time.
I actually think his facial structure looks a lot like Dante.

Now, it could be that the gameplay will be great... but I doubt it. Didn't a lot of people think Heavenly Swords was basically a God of War ripoff? And whats that other game they made? I've never even heard of it. As for the story? The trailer speaks VOLUMES about what they're going to do with it. If they were stupid enough to screw up the character like that, do you really think they're going to make an interesting story out of it?
Hell yes i think the story is going to be interesting.
i cant wait to see how the "Rehabilitation Center" fits in with the story.

I mean, I will wait to pass final judgement, but for now, Ninja Theory isn't getting any of my money, and I'm going to complain about it.

I mean, this seems akin to shitty fanfiction that you see all over DeviantArt. The only difference is that this is big budget shitty fanfiction. <_<
Well that's like your opinion man.

EDIT: The three things they got right in the trailer.

1. The weapon. Looks kinda' cool. Will have to wait to see.

2. "WHAT. IS. YOUR. NAME?"

3. The music.

So, I will admit they got the sound down, and they showed off the weapon well, but the character is still screwed to hell, and he is what the games were all about. I mean, there have been successful innovations in character design. This is NOT one of them. I love Old Snake in MGS4. I loved the new Raiden in MGS4 as well. Ethan Thomas in Condemned 2 was way better. Leon Kennedy in RE4. Then there are ones I could stand, but disliked like Chris Redfield in RE5. But this? No. I can't stand for this.
Oh well, like iv said before.
i like the new design and i hardly believe that Dante is ruined forever just because of his new look.

I am waiting mostly for Tokyo Game Show; No doubt a BIG announcement of this game, or maybe some new videos of it, will appear. We just need to wait and see.

That's very true, and I agree. But there are some instances when they should listen to fans. inFamous 2 being one of my examples.

They changed Cole from an average joe guy, who wasn't necessarily ugly, but not good looking, into some Nathan McGrath character, who might've almost been voiced by Nolan North as well. I am glad SuckerPunch listened to their fans about that and changed him to his older look.

But that is a different matter, because that game was a sequel. In sequels, you just can't do that, like DMC 2. But this is a REBOOT! They can do as they please with the character since it is a new world, new Dante, and new game. Were it actually DMC5, then I, myself, would join the fans and bitching about how it isn't Dante and should be changed back.

But since it is DmC, and we have yet to see how it will turn out, I think we should hold back on the bitching and moaning, and just see what comes. Because as I saw with Cole from inFamous 2, no matter what they do with Dante (change him completely or even revert back to DMC1 Dante), people will ***** and hate it. So they might as well keep it as it is.

Iv never played Infamous but i understand and agree that sometimes developerd do need to listen.

YES!
Thats really tthe thing that most people need to understand.
Its not the same Dante.
Its him as a KID.
It makes sense that he would look/act differently at the start of his life.
especially with his abilitys not being fully awoken yet.
But like you said, if this was a DmC5 then i would be upset too.

Agreed.
Hell, when the Bioshock:Infinite's trailor was released i remember people crying that it ruined the series.
One 2 minute trailer and people were already loosing their shit.

I love the Bioshock series, and haven't seen the trailer to Infinite yet.

But also, it's a short trailer, and people need to stop being so afraid of change. I will admit, I hate changes. I disliked some of the sequel to Drakengard, and I would love for some games to just stay the same. But jeebus, it's 20 fuckin' 10. And the world is still scared of change. No wonder we don't have any friggin' jetpacks yet, or even space stations; because some people are too scared of the following moments...... that AND because our scientists aren't that smart here in the good ol' USA. Hell, few people are in general over here >_>

And I like this new Dante. I am excited for this new game and the possibilities that can follow. They get feedback from this one and make the necessary changes. Same for releasing some demos or videos of a gameplay demo and then people ca have the right to ***** and moan. I love his new punk look, to be honest. Fits the theme. And I love his youthful rebelliousness, it just makes him seem like more of a bad ass to me then a thirty year old rebelling against whatever.

But that's just me.

Sigh, it is kinda sad.
But, that's just human nature for ya.
While some things don't need the change, some things do need to change.
Like Metroid, its been a great series, and while nothing was really "Wrong" with the Prime series, after 3 games change was needed.
Wither the change is good or bad is up the the player but, if it had been stuck at Prime or Super like some fans wanted, the series would be better off just ending completely.

As for the Trailer, i LOVED it.
It set up the suspense really well.
and i love both Bioshock 1 & 2.

All in all i like the new look too.
Im dying to find out exactly what happened in the "Rehabilitation center" and to see how Dante grows over the course of the game.
We will just haft to wait and see.

I still get chills every time Dante goes "My name is Dante." And falls off the roof. But I always get chills when people with awesome voices say bad ass lines when the music stops (Still shout "YEAH!" after the ending cutscene of inFamous; And I have seen it over ten times lol)

I honestly think it seems more of a mix between Dante of DMC2 and 3. The dark, seriousness along with the slight narcissistic faith in his abilities. Most people think he is showing off when he is shooting the enemies, but actually it's something called Gun-Fu that he has been quite a master of since the very first game. It is mostly in action movies and games, and is considered to flow with the movement and add 120% to accuracy while shooting. Or so it was according to the movie Equilibrium (Which was an AMAZING movie!)

Id say he has some faith in his abilitys, especially if he is able to have a smoke while holding a Demon in a Headlock, and then put the Cig out in its face.
And im hoping that the trailer is a good indication of what to expect gameplay wise, it just looked awesome
And his sword....oh man that thing looks awesome.

I know. I love the sword. I am just worried it will become something similar to Dante's scythe in Dante's Inferno. It'd be cool, but it'd be a bit tedious, and no one wants to see DmC become God of War: Hades May Cry. Though I am sure they can leave out the Quick Time Events and whatnot. I also don't want to see them make you hold down a button to have range attacks, normal attacks, and heavy attacks, just like Heavenly Sword. If the story was as good as HS, I would gladly play this game.

Im hoping the sword is something the player can alter depending on their play style.
i love the idea of Grappling an opponent with it and forming the blade again to smash them into the ground.
I dobut that there will be any QTEs, or at least i hope not.
I also don't want to see them make you hold down a button to have range attacks, normal attacks, and heavy attacks, just like Heavenly Sword. If the story was as good as HS, I would gladly play this game.
Never played HS....but they made you do that?
Id rather separate buttons for each but that they can be used in conjunction to pull of special moves.

Yeah, to do range moves you had to hold down either R1 or L1 and the attacks and everything changed whilst the button is held down. Same with heavy attacks. Regular attacks; you just play like normal.

Don't know if this had been mentioned before, but here's some news.

DMC creator, Hideki Kamiya, apparently DOES NOT like the new take on Dante.

Makes me wish the actual creator has a hand in this.

At all? Never.

First of all, the whole "no smoking" thing was Kamiya's idea. However, Kamiya got kicked off the squad after DMC2, so really, the other two Dantes were NOT his idea. Therefore, I think it's safe to say it's alright to reimagine Dante as a teenage smoker. It fits the image they're trying to portray in this game (rebellious and immature). In fact, I'm hoping he begins to mature throughout the game into the Dante we know and love (5 bucks his hair is white by the credits).

DMC3 really changed Dante's image as well. He became 10 times more obnoxious that DMC1's Dante, and spouted even more ridiculous b-liners. In fact, I still wince every time I play the opening because of how ridiculously cheesy it is. Honestly, while I do prefer the white-haired Dante, it's only cuz I've played with him for four games, and have seen (or heard) barely nothing of this new black haired guy. Which is why I don't understand all the uncalled for rage.
Gameplay looks as insanely awesome as usual, and I like the new enemy designs.

Maybe I'm just odd. After all, I didn't think DMC2 was that bad at all either. :|
