I have 1 minor problem why is Dante a smoker?
Cause it's so edgy and cool! Dante is obviously totally against the system! Row row fight the power!

Fun fact: Kamiya intentionally made Dante a non-smoker because he thought it was cooler. Fuck you Ninja Theory.
That makes sense seeing as how it's considered "hip" to hate smoking now.
Of course if something becomes "cool" than in theory your supposed to be cool by doing the opposite and not caring. I guess they're still trying to make him cool but now they're trying a little harder.
EDIT: Oh, gods, I am SO sorry. I misread your post. I'm an idiot, I know. I deeply apologize.

I've never really been into the series, I've only played half of the original. This could be my chance of getting into this series, so that's exciting. I'm mostly wo with this look, except I liked his white hair.

Wow, so this is the project lead of DMC.
-cough-cough-
You serious?
I would so bomb that guy with a satiate if THATS the reason they killed off Dante's looks.
Vinny! :D

And yeah, that's... odd... Dante looks much hotter than the project lead, if that is him.
What fictional character doesn't look hotter than any normal human being??
*__*

Well, I think Jesse Lacey, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Statham and young Brandon Fraser look(ed) better than most guy characters. And Selena Gomez, pre-drug addiction Amy Winehouse, and the two evil girls from A Good Knight's Quest show on the Escapist are hotter than most female game characters. -shrugs-

What I hope this game is, but doubt it is after going back over the chronology, is that this is the phase Dante went through when he was maybe 13 - 16 where he completely denied his demon heritage and killed demons to get revenge for his mother's death. It would explain him dying his hair and everything. It would also explain why he doesn't use rebellion, rebellion being his father's sword and a devil arm, a weapon usable only by demons.
I dunno. I want to believe Capcom wouldn't ruin one of their more iconic series, but my fanaticism, which I am desperately trying to suppress (to no avail) is making me believe otherwise.
"This a complete reboot of the series, holding little to no ties with previous entries in the franchise. Unlike previous games in the series, the game will not be developed internally by Capcom but rather by British developer Ninja Theory."

I just found this, so... who knows? Capcom isn't technically making it. Just held responsible lol
...dang.
I read those summaries. Good stuff. Vergil talking to Nero just before activating his Devil Trigger for the first time. Why couldn't they put that in the game? It would've had a better effect than him calling out Kyrie over and over.
Maybe this'll be the Mega Man Battle Network of the DMC franchise and they'll keep making normal DMC games.

That's what I think. And yeah, those summaries are good. And I predicted the reason that Dante never really kept his Devil Arms when someone on my other thread asked why Dante always had to earn new weapons and whatnot. I predicted correctly too. And this gives a LOT of insight on some of the questions I had about the game, too. But again, 16-17 years ago, Vergil was ten or eleven, according to Capcom's timeline...

EDIT: -.- I also just saw the part that said Dante ages just about the same rate as a normal human... so all of my arguments about his slow aging are wrong :/

Well...I'd be inclined to go along with you there and not criticize early...
but considering how much crap they pumped into number 4 I'd lost faith anyway.
DMC3 was the last devil may cry game in my eyes...

O_O why does it say you quoted me saying "SNIP"?

But yes, I admit, I adore his new look. It works for the whole dark, gritty theme. And I enjoy the slightly less gothic outfit. He is wearing something people actually wear.

I have said it before, but his other outfits consist of:
1. A Gothic Dress Suit
2. A gothic vampire outfit
3. Some supermodel-like outfit, which made no sense.
and 4. A cowboy outfit... really?

EDIT: Although, the British flag on his left arm of the coat is a bit random...

Well, I guess they could fudge and extra ten years somewhere to make it more believable. Unless Vergil gets ahold to a means of time travel in a later installment (insert spooky time travel noise).
...
I really should beat DMD mode on DMC4 soon...

i mostly hate do to fact how much they made dante look like an asshole dante is supose to be a an awesome but cocky guy hes awesome and he knows it this dante looks like an asshole whos does this things to be and asshole my god ninja therory could've you think out side the box like the original dmc is in a defenition a punk rock game but they knew for the original not play it strait im sorry buts its hard to think punk rock kevin federline is cool all right
One; How did anything in that trailer make him look like an asshole? Killing demons? Not answering that one guy right away about his name? He acted no differently than his original self. And he still WAS cocky. Did you not see him nonchalantly put a cigarette out on that demon, then proceed to kick ass? Second; How does he look anything like a Punk K-Fed? Honestly? Thirdly; DMC was NEVER a punk rock game. It had a dark theme, and had some heavy music playing in the background. Nothing punk about it.

You and me both, mate, but FFS, Dante just isn't as spammable as Nero when the Assaults go all DT on you. OR the Blitz's. With Nero I merely spammed the "Flame-Up" button for his sword and had him on Auto, so that his gun and sword would charge up as I spammed the Devil Bringer.

I think the new look is refreshing actually. As someone who has not had the fortune to play the first three (Damn you Nero...), I think finding out about Dante's past would be really interesting. To judge the game as a failure just because young Dante doesn't look almost identical to his older self seems a bit rash though.

What I hope for is a smoother overall experience with DMC. Devil May Cry 4 just felt off for being the next generation installment. Even the cutscenes seemed to not flow with the rest of the gameplay, jolting the flow.

Actually, mate, sadly it was confirmed as a reboot to the series :T Meaning this isn't the original Dante. This is a complete new character with a new story.

This isn't actually better than any of that though.

Just for luls Ninja Theory should have made Dante black, and changed all the music to hip-hop. Though I think that sort of change would be much better since he wouldn't look like a junkie who had just been raped in prison.

Dante/Nero are on hit, but the baddies are from DMD.
Fuck. That. Noise. I couldn't beat the DMD baddies on DMD, let alone Hell or Hell mode. Well... as Nero I kicked ass, even against Sanctus... he was kind of a push over. But as Dante... ugh... It took me forever to get out of that forest as Dante. But I haven't played in so long, I'm not even sure I got out of it; Might have been a dream lol.
