Seems like it will be pretty similar to the Pacific campaign in World At War.

I don't like jungle settings in games. They make me too skittish, like some kind of deer on speed. I doubt I'll play this.

Oh goodness. I just clicked. A Vietnam game would include the Australian Army. Yes! Finally the most badass soldiers in the world have a chance to be represented.

My balls have designed better games than Treyarch. Why the hell would Activision give Vietnam to those cretins? Brace yourselves for disappointment!

it would provide a good chance to play as the vietcong, especially with the whole stealth aspect, like the mission Äll Ghillied up" in CoD4

M60.
Back.

MW2 lacked the M60, so we better get the squad portable version in the game.
NOT (and I repeat *NOT*) just the mounted version. Cuz that would just suck to ONLY be able to use the M60 mounted.
I share your pain.

This could be awesome. I doubt they'll completely balls it up, at worst I think it'll just be meh and at best it could be awesome.

Vietnam is the least represented war front, i think its nice to see it come to life (even if treyarch's gonna mess it up and make it fall into a pit and DIE)

I can guarantee there will be booby traps in multiplayer, and if so, the next most commonly said phrase in CoD7 online will be:

"ITS A TRAP!!!"

or...

"U USED A CH3AP @$$ TR@P U N0000B!!111"
Knowing people's tendency to ***** about everything, it will be the latter. Even if the traps are in plain view and easily avoidable, they will still ***** about it being unfair.
And people think claymores are a pain.
We can assume the following shall be deemed "n00bish"

1. Killing Someone
2. Using Traps
3. Hiding in a bush
4. Using Camouflage
5. Killing Someone
6. Using the Flamethrower (assuming flamethrowers are present)
7. Using a gun
8. Killing someone
9. Using a knife
10. Using Commando Pro, Marathon Pro, and Lightweight Pro (KNOWING we'll still have those perks)
11. Killing Someone
This gave me a good laugh. I agree that people complain too much about things that were put in the game for a reason are "noobish." However, having said that, I have to say that number 10, the Witch Blade class is one of the few things that really irritates me and that I consider to be "noobish." For a game that brags about how realistic it is, having perks that when combined, turn your soldier into a super human with the ability to run at high speeds non-stop, take no falling damage and teleport through bullets to stab someone who is out of range of a melee is kind of bullshit. But, as I said, that's the only thing that really bothers me.

Dude, I'm all for it. Vietnam is a shade of grey in an otherwise black and white world. Hell, I'dve like to see Korea. Imagine, tens of thousands of Red Chinese versus The U.S. and her south Korean allies in a single battle. Running out of ammo and grabbing for a weapon, then running out again and grabbing for a melee weapon.

How about the mission where you defoliate the country side with Agent Orange?
Fun.

Also, Multiplayer should include non-player NPC civilians that look EXACTLY like the vietcong players. And if the Americans shoot the Civilians they instantly lose.

Press X to bludgeon innocent civilian #214 to death! Yeahhhhh!

Seriously though, if this game has a grain of realism, all the missions will focus on looking for VC, finding no VC, razing the place anyway, getting shot by 20 guys you can't see.

Of course, the game won't be like that, but it'll be chock full of the 'gritty realism' that I'm starting to get really tired of in games. But, of course, it won't be realism, just 'pretend' realism. If that makes sense.

What worries me the most about this choice is that Vietnam was a whole other deal compared to WW2 and modern day conventional warfare. Even the Pacific Front in WW2 was no where near Vietnam in how the war played out and the kind of fighting done in Vietnam doesn't seem very conducive to fast-paced FPS action.

Obviously, VietCong (the game) proved that you can make a good game about the Vietnam War. But VietCong had a very diffrent pacing from the Call of Duty series. Where Call of Duty has always been about fast paced, cinematic action sequences.

Of course, there was many stages in the Vietname War. But I wonder just how well the iconic Jungle Warfare can be made into the kind of game that CoD-fans have come to expect. At worst it will be just another MW2 but with diffrent textures.

Except for the fact that America looses this War, they didn't use Napalm in the Philippines (but that would have livened up the pacific war), and the fact that the Vietcong ripped everyone's limbs off with sharpened bamboo sticks. Oh and WaW doesn't have a level where you Agent Orange the countryside of some Vietnamese town.
