Well I like the idea I mean there was more to vietnam than jungle combat like the Tet Offensive. That battle alone could be a several levels of gameplay right there.

well the reason american troops hated the m16 was because they mechanisms weren't well designed and the springs were very strong, they would jam from just about anything, including the standard issue magazines, with 30 rounds in them the spring were compressed too tightly and would force rounds into the chamber too quickly causing a jam. Also the smalleest amount of dirt would jam them, not to mention the fact that they could just break. Yeah not a particularly good weapon in the begeinning
There was a number of things Eugene Stoner told the military to do before they fielded the gun but the bean counters ignored it because it would be cheaper not to chrome the chamber or make any of the other modifications.

WOOOOT I'm really looking forward to this. I hope multiplayer is awesome and utilizes the dense jungles of Vietnam.

Wow, they won't even have to invent controversial scenes for this one. Although I think they'll probably draw the line at the rape, murder and dismemberment of teenage girls. Somehow I don't think that would fly with people. Anyway, hoping beyond hope that there is at least some message involved beyond "Yay America kicks ass, look at our shiny guns."

Also on the subject of the failings of the M16--> Thats what you get when your government buys a gun out of political interest rather than picking the one that works best.

Oh boy, here comes treyarch to make another mediocre call of duty!

I don't know, I have low expectations for this. Aren't we just going to be seeing a lot of guerilla warfare?

Damn, I was hoping for Korea, but this should be good too.
The same here. I want a game set in Korea, I don't think that conflict has been touched by game developers.
Probably because no one really gives a shit about the Korean War, no offense. It was basically WWII fought entirely in Korea, going back and forth.

I wanna see some Aussies. They give me that (and decent Australian accents) and I will buy this game without a second thought.

Oh, I want to be the first to call a situation where Agent Orange will be greatly involved.
Bit late my friend, already called it..only my bet is it'll be napalm to avoid the Agent Orange controversy.
I think that there's a place for both napalm and Agent Orange in the game, and neither one is much less controversial. Agent Orange fucks up the planet, napalm fucks it up too. Also, if Treyarch wanted to avoid controversy, they would make a game about a less controversial war in my opinion.

I will reserve judgment until I see some gameplay footage. But I would like to see a sniper mission with Carlos Halfcock. He shot in enemy sniper through the guy's scope from (if I remember right) about a mile away.

Not to mention a buttload of confirmed kills can't remember exactly how many.

I hope Treyarch don't turn it into a fictional victory for the American's, even though some may deny, they did lose that war...

don't forget it was billed as a 'mainetenance free' weapon (facepalm), which along with a propellant change in the issued ammo resulted in rock hard residue in the - etc etc

it's treyarch, i'll skip this one.

You know what the funny thing is? This actually reminds me of a game called Vietcong that I used to play. Freaking awesome.

I'm wondering when a futuristic CoD game will be made. If it happens, hopefully it'll be just as intense (if not more) as the other CoDs. Also, hopefully the storyline will be excellent.

I want my futuristic CoD!

Sounds like it could be pretty cool, but keep in mind that every other Vietnam game ever made sucked. Except for MAYBE Battlefield Vietnam. Also, the killstreak wouldn't be Blackhawk gunner, it would probably be a UH-1 Iroquois.

Something tells me there will be at least one supporting character used to represent the inhumane actions both armies used

Sooo... we can expect at least one level that involves you slaughtering women and children in a small Vietnamese village?
