I've never seen it, mainly due to the fact I don't watch TV and therefor don't pay for HBO.
But if I did have HBO, I might watch an episode.
There is this thing called an internet..

Season 1 was awesome. Instead of raping the canon they just built on it a little. However season 2 has apparently turned to shit.

1) Suckies brother never went to any stupid church. The main part of his character is that he is a hopeless drifter that just bangs hot chicks non stop. So they are basically destroying his character.
2) Lafa died. He was the corpse in the car. So every second he survives just breaks the canon even more.
3) The chick in S2, the maenad was vastly different in the books. She did not cause the orgies, she just showed up and ate people.
4) Bill never sired anyone. By doing that they have fucked his entire persona and apparently wussed him out.
5) Bills ex did not show up till book 3 so they are screwing up the continuity.

There were a few more complaints but you get the idea. Personally, I quite like it. Sure Anna Paquin is a annoying gap toothed hill billy wench but eh, it has other chars it focuses on so I can deal. (Although I do thoroughly enjoy seeing her ass every time in the intro) but it is violent, sexy, gruesome and totally not emo enough to keep me satisfied.

Yeah, that's piracy. Aren't you generally against piracy?
Not if you WATCH it on the internet, with the link I helpfully provided. And yeah, I know what your friend is talking about, but it makes the show that much more enticing...and Tara wasn't a main character, but she adds a level of depth to the show.

No? Not really, anyway.
I don't have any strong feelings either way about piracy.

It's the only way I can watch Dexter, and I fucking love Dexter.
It's also probably on Hulu, but I can't suggest that, as most of the users can't use Hulu, not being American.
Wait, if you aren't from the US, you can't use Hulu?

I saw some episodes, looks ok (The FX's were very bad. Fast forwarding for super speed? Cmon spend some money.) My brother (21) is obsessed with it, which is a bit concerning because the only thing I talks about is the vampire sex which leads me to believe he has a strange fetish with blood and sex o_O. On a side note, my drum instructor almost got his band on True Blood for the third season.

EDIT: From Wikipedia: "Set in the small fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, the main thrust of the show revolves around Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress. Her ability makes it difficult for her to form lasting human relationships. She is attracted to Bill Compton (editor's note: the vampire) played by Stephen Moyer because she cannot hear his thoughts."
I find that fucking hilarious and more than a little familiar...
But, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, which is the books that the TV Show is based on, were first published in 2001 I wanna say, long before Twilight was even heard of. So yeah, Twilight copied from it, not the other way around. And I would appreciate it if we could keep the similarities out of this, I don't want this to become a hate thread.

Oooh, sexy male vampires.
I'm in.

...What, I'm shallow, okay?
See...even men with a taste for women can appreciate the male body. I give warning to not watch this show around anyone under the age of 15...rampant sex, nudity, and lots of blood.
You had me at sex and blood. Im going to go check it out now.

It is, in my opinion, the greatest show on TV. I fucking love the show.

Just...everything about it, I love it all.

Especially the great endings and cliffhangers to every episode that just get you more and more excited for next Sunday.

Although tonight's episode made me sad.

True Blood is an absolutely wonderful Vampire show. Even as a typical drama show its pretty darn good. The show somewhat focuses more around Sookie but it generally spreads the attention around evenly. The world that is portrayed in True Blood is set around the time those crafty Asians come up with synthetic blood. Now, vampires no longer HAVE to feed on humans so they go public, getting human rights and all that good stuff. TB is focused on the story of a small town dealing with the different vampire types (and some other fantasy creatures ) with the political and humane struggle of vampires as a backdrop. Its a really intelligent show that gets your mind working, your eyes fried from the gentle eroticism, and your fingers twitching at the here-and-there bouts of intense action. The vampire part of the show mainly focuses on their mythos and ways of life in this new "public" era. I highly recommend it to anyone who is mature, hates the abomination known as Twilight, or has a general interest to high interest in vampires!

I really like True Blood, and all the allusions to the gay rights movement it makes. It's a fun show to watch, I don't follow it actively but if it's on tv at school I'll watch it

I like how vampire blood plays as a narcotic: the drug-use meshes well with the other savory violence.
