I like the site itself, I find it tremendously useful at best and a great distraction at worst.

The forums however... I would burn them but there is not enough napalm in existence.

To be fair, most of the trash is cordoned off to the forums now. Most of the treasure troves of troper creepiness have been carved from the wiki like tumors. Fetish Fuel, It Just Bugs Me and Troper Tales are the three biggest offenders for the creepy stuff. You can google them, but they are no longer supported on the site.

Nah, IJBM just became Headscratchers [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Headscratchers/HomePage]. For less stealth complaining, I hear.

Which section of the forums are the /b/ of that site? Cause looking through some of them I really don't see what the big deal is. Sure, some of the tropes are a little creepy but I have yet to see the creepiness in the forums.

If you want the stuff that makes you feel disgusted, look up the Content Policy Discussion, Wiki Talk and Special efforts boards, and then look through some of the locked threads.

As for other stupid crap, I recommend looking at Writer's Block and the Literature Board's thread on how lit should be taught in schools.

Wow, never seen that side of TV Tropes... I tend to stick to the tamer stuff, I guess. Mostly just character archetypes and plot devices.

So... I guess I'm all for 'em cleaning up, then. A seedy underbelly can ruin a good site quite easily.

For the record, that's what every creep tends to say about their "favorite works", regardless of quality.

I personally think that's a logical fallacy but I am not bothered to check it...

Well I've never been to the site's forums, but I've been on its main pages a few times. And I don't really understand the appeal. In fact, the writing style kind of annoys me. I think a lot of stuff needs a good edit- and the stuff being brought up in this thread is further evidence of that.
