I just told my roommate about this, and his response was:
"What? Is the Air Force gonna kill their parents?"

He has a good point.

So they'll be entering battles with Silver tipped knives/ammunition then?

I mean that's good against Werewolves AND Vampires. If the Taliban field either they need to be prepared! They probably can't do kryptonite (as it doesn't exist) but silver should be piss easy to do.

Hmm, am I the only one whom smells a lawsuit coming up?
Stealing the name BATMAN from the owners?

Would be well funny. ;)

So the Air Force wants an army of Batmen, the Marines want an army of Robert Heinlein style power troopers and... what fictional creation does the army want to emulate?
The Imperial Guard?
That would be a good idea in the department of tanks - but infantrymen wouldn't take it very well, to put it mildly. Infantry should try being like RED and BLU, maybe? Rocket-jumping, gatling guns taking $400,000 to fire for twelve seconds, every first soldier being a giggling nutcase... on second thought, this is a VERY BAD IDEA.

The military has and always will be about a numbers game. Why train an equip one super-soldier for two million dollars when you can train and equip twenty reguluar soldiers for the same price?
Because zerg-rushing your enemies works less and less as technology improves.

But they won't like Punk music.

What does Punk Music have to do with Batman or the Army?

OT: Sounds pretty cool. Although I have my speculations.

Why like Batman? Wouldn't it make more sense if they had the goal to make them more like Ninja? You know lighter, smarter, deadlier, not dressing up in a bat-suit and using gadgets, that don't exist.

And higher casualties are bad for morale, and you end up with less people.

I love living in the future. Let's just hope any future nemesis doesn't start covering their soldiers in make-up and giving them 'hilarious' weapons that explode.

You know the wrong person is in charge when they choose a comic book character as an inspiration for military design.

Also the idea of move weight to less straining areas in pretty dam basic. While I'll admit the power tap hook sounds cool if a bit redundant (chances of using ALL your power before getting back to base?)

Terrorist: Foolish infidel! Who do you think you are, that you could destroy the will of Hamas?

American Soldier: What are you, dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the Hell do you think I am?

Man, I couldn't stop laughing while reading this.

Now all I can keep seeing is a guy in desert digi cammies and a Batman mask & cape running around going "Da-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na BATMAN!!!".

Same Air Force blindly massacring civilians with their brave robot drone attacks. Just fine.
These threads never seem to go long without someone who thinks he can solve all the world's problems spouting off about stuff they don't know much about.

Kid, do you know how much time, manpower, and lives the Air Force spends on NOT killing civilians?

You know how much easier it would be if we just sent in the stealths to carpet bomb a country with Mk. 80s and standoff missiles every time we go to war? But we don't. Instead we spend hundreds of man-hours to plan and execute surgical strikes with fighters with precision weapons, and we risk the pilots who will be exposed to enemy air defenses for the duration of the missions. And if there are any unexpected civilian casualties, the mission is considered a failure, and the pilot, planners, battle managers, ground crew, and anyone else involved with the mission gets investigated to find out what went wrong, and possibly set up court-martial hearings.

The way planes are built now, we can have some schmo off the street fly over a country and push a button. But that's not what the Air Force does. The Air Force is not in the business of killing civvies. It's messy, wasteful, and with people in Washington taking every chance they can get to cut the Air Force's budget, expensive. When we hit a target, you can be sure of two things. 1) The target was militarily significant, and 2) That we dropped the exact amount of ordinance that was needed. If there's ever a case where those two things aren't true, someone is losing their job at the very least.

So before you go off and talk about how we're all monsters and baby-killers, you should think about whether or not what your saying has any basis in reality. Because your ignorance is showing.

Depending on the operation, there's a pretty good chance. During an invasion, troops could go for months off of a base. Though I think having replaceable Lithium batteries, and chargers on APCs would be more efficient, as today's infantry is almost never far from a Bradley or a Stryker.

It's okay. They may not be the Batmen we want them to be, but the Batmen Afghanistan deserves.

All they need is a Bat-Signal, a fleet of Batmobiles and butlers, and some high-tech cowls. No capes though, they get caught on stuff.
