Same Air Force blindly massacring civilians with their brave robot drone attacks. Just fine.
These threads never seem to go long without someone who thinks he can solve all the world's problems spouting off about stuff they don't know much about.
Kid, do you know how much time, manpower, and
lives the Air Force spends on NOT killing civilians?
You know how much easier it would be if we just sent in the stealths to carpet bomb a country with Mk. 80s and standoff missiles every time we go to war? But we don't. Instead we spend hundreds of man-hours to plan and execute surgical strikes with fighters with precision weapons, and we risk the pilots who will be exposed to enemy air defenses for the duration of the missions. And if there are any unexpected civilian casualties, the mission is considered a failure, and the pilot, planners, battle managers, ground crew, and anyone else involved with the mission gets investigated to find out what went wrong, and possibly set up court-martial hearings.
The way planes are built now, we can have some schmo off the street fly over a country and push a button. But that's not what the Air Force does. The Air Force is not in the business of killing civvies. It's messy, wasteful, and with people in Washington taking every chance they can get to cut the Air Force's budget, expensive. When we hit a target, you can be sure of two things. 1) The target was militarily significant, and 2) That we dropped the exact amount of ordinance that was needed. If there's ever a case where those two things aren't true, someone is losing their job at the very least.
So before you go off and talk about how we're all monsters and baby-killers, you should think about whether or not what your saying has any basis in reality. Because your ignorance is showing.

Also the idea of move weight to less straining areas in pretty dam basic. While I'll admit the power tap hook sounds cool if a bit redundant (chances of using ALL your power before getting back to base?)
Depending on the operation, there's a pretty good chance. During an invasion, troops could go for months off of a base. Though I think having replaceable Lithium batteries, and chargers on APCs would be more efficient, as today's infantry is almost never far from a Bradley or a Stryker.
