Darrel was honestly a bit dumbfounded. He had played a few jokes on Lily, but they had all been in good spirit. He had a feeling that something was going on that he didn't know about. He didn't really know how to react; he hadn't meant to offend her, and now she was shouting at him for a reason he had no idea had even been a factor. He tried to open his mouth to respond, but found that he was starting to hyperventilate. As the tears welled up in his cheeks, he realized with an abstract sort of horror that he was starting to cry. His mind immediately went back to a speech his father had made back when he was a little boy on a camping trip. The only one they had ever took.
"Aw, shucks, kid! Don't cry. Sit down a minute, and listen to your old man ramble a bit. There's nothing wrong with crying, kid. Even the toughest men'll cry when something's hurt them. But crying to other people's wrong. It's practically cheating! People are empathetic, Darrel, if you cry they'll do practically anything to stop you from doing it any more and that just ain't right. It's not fair to them, and it's not fair to yourself. So promise me kid, you won't cry to anyone."
Darrel had promised. And here he was about to bawl like a little kid in front of some girl he'd managed to enrage.
But by some odd luck, a miracle in his eyes, the attention shifted away from him at this exact moment to Chell, who had bursted onto the scene to grab Lily's attention.

"Heh, you're funny, Chell," Lily scoffed, still angry at Darrel. She gave him one last look, seeing his eyes swell up and redden a bit. Disgusted, she grabbed Sid by the wrist and briskly walked off, leaving the other two behind her.
Outside of the tower, she released Sid and continued her steady pace, speaking to Sid without turning her head. "Are you ready? We won't be in a town for a while."
"Of course I am!" Sid squeaked in his changing voice.
"Alright then... So let's start our way to Ecru... teak?" Lily slowed as she saw a boy arguing with a policeman at the front of the building she needed to pass through to get to Ecruteak. She noticed Alex, Matt, Jason, and Gerald as they observed the boy's behavior. Fear welling up inside of her, Lily marched up to the guard and asked flatly, "What's going on? I need to get through to Ecruteak, can I get through?"
"As I was just explaining to this one," the guard nodded at the boy by her side, "There's been a murder. And no, we need outsiders off the premises! Now beat it."
'No...' in that single moment, Lily's reality came crashing down around her. She backed off, shocked. Another murder this close to the destruction in New Bark... It was too close. It wasn't safe anymore.
Lily had lived the past year feeling safe in the wilderness, and now the air of security was gone. Maybe other places in Johto was safe, but there definitely a murderer around here...
Lost in thought and still backing up, Lily bumped into Matt and jumped in panic.
"Oh... Matt, its just you... Hey."

Turning to Gerald, Lily heard a twinge of concern in his voice. She was still worried, but she didn't want to cause any trouble for others. Lying through her teeth, she said to him, "I'm just a little.... Discouraged. Murder is always terrible, and now I can't get to Ecruteak.... It's just a big pain."
But Lily didnt say the main thing on her mind, the one thought that she just wanted to scream.

Alex hefted himself up and moved quickly over to the group. He quickly assessed the situation and spoke slowly. "Well, if you'd like there is a gym to the south of here and the leader is supposed to be the second one you fight. If you're going in the league suggested order..."
Matt held Lily steady instinctivly when she bumped into him, but he quickly let go when he noticed what he was doing, he noticed everyones current unease and heard the word murder mentioned a few time, he knew what he feared was true, another horrible incident had happened in his wake. His heart raced as he thought of how he hadnt seen that little girl that started travelling with them when they first began a few days back, which already seemed an impossibly long time.
"Lily, it seems that your way to go is... well, out of commission now, so I think it may be best if you were to come with us for the time being. Atleast until we pass through Ecruteak, I couldnt... well, I just think it would be for the best. Atleast for now" he suggested, trying to keep his voice under control and trying not to think how horrible it would be to have someone else he met suffer the moment she headed out on her own.

"That's Matt," Lily gestured to the guy in front of her with a black backpack "And that is Alex," She glared at him for a second and then turned to the last of the three "And that's Gereld." Lily sighed "I guess I have no choice but to go with you. But I will be splitting off as soon as I get a chance."

Said Gereld, trying to appear as friendly as possible to the new person, whom Gereld hadn't even noticed till he spoke, and appeared to be, if anything, more scared then Lily did." How'd you meet Lily anyway?" He continued, acting more out of curiousity then sympathy at this point.
"Now that we are all decided its time to move out, isn't it?" asked Chell, before moving in close to Lily.

Matt blinked once or twice at Lily storming off head first like that, especialy considering what is aprarently going on around here now.
"Alright then, I guess that's our cue to leave this place" Matt said as he turned to face the rag tag group of people hanging around now, while they were waiting Jason Cole and his Bagon had returned from their trip to the lake, and was hanging towards the back quietly. Okay... that should be everyone then. Time to head out... he thought as he did a headcount, not wanting to miss anyone at all.
"So lets get going" he said as he turned and walked after Lily, Rojo following step with a zig-zagging path.

There are assumably bad people around here and you know what they say 'safety in numbers' so stay on your toes and Matt and I will see to it we get to Azalea town."
"Lily and I only just met..." Sid mumbled. He didn't really know what else to say then dropped Pooch's pokeball, the pokemon came out and just looked around. His eyes wandered around the dispersing group and stopped at Sid.
"Pooch!" He barked and sat on the ground. Sid walked to him and sat next to him.
"Looks like the two of us found a way out of town." Sid smiled.
"Chyena!"

As Gereld watched the new boy, who still hadn't really givin his name(maybe he said it while I wasn't paying attention and he doesn't like to repeat himself? He thought privtly to himself) Gereld saw the boy had what looked like a small and particularily thin dog with him, some pokemon that he didn't have a name for. Following the others out of town, Gereld let out Bubba, mostly so he felt like he had something between him and whoever the murderer out there was.
Having regained a small amount of her composure, Lily led the group off to Azalea Town. If her memory served her correctly from her Geography classes, it would be south of Violet a good ways, then a bit to the west, through a small cave. It was probably a two day trip, but their large group might slow them down to three.
Regardless of speed, Lily's gut was wrenching with conflicting emotions. She was relieved that she was with a group, and that her safety was increased, but at the same time, she was doing exactly what she was trying to avoid. She was going to try to remain aloof from the others, besides Sid, so as to not forge bonds with any of them. The last thing she needed was to be facing Jason or Gerald in the battle for the championship, and lose due to hesitation because of her feelings. And besides that, Matt and Chell were both acting strangely, Chell especially, for the girl seemed to be flirting with Lily moments after she decided to stop hating her passionately. Lily didn't buy it.
Sid, soon catching up to Lily, looked up at her, confused. She tried to explain, "These are... Acquaintances of mine. Don't get friendly with them, they're only gonna drag us down. Well split off from them as soon as we reach Ecruteak. Ok?"

Baubba was flying around Gereld's head in circles, Making excited noises which meant, as far as Gereld could guess, that Bubba was excited about exploring somewhere he had never been before. Letting his gaze fall toward theground, Gereld was surprised by how much Lily appeared to like the new kid, which was all the odder because of all the times she said she wanted to keep to herself during all the time she had talked to the group. Just what made her get so attached to this boy? Gereld thought, though he had enough tact to not ask.
it's because you didn't mention you'd be gone, though it could be any number of reason.
