"Minute I get there I'm going shopping and getting my hair done!"

"I was thinking of going out looking for Pokemon myself." said Eric, finally calling back Dash to his White Premier ball.

"Are we going to leave this well then?" he asked to no one in particular. "I'm kind of sick of caves."

Gereld felt the light stream across his face, shocking his cave adjusted eyes shut, but he managed to scramble out of Slowpoke Well even while partilly blinded. Moving a little out of the way so the others could get out without having to go around him, Gereld let out Bubba and Cindy, who reacted very differently to being reunited.

Bubba just charged Gereld, knocking him on his ass, hugging the boy all the while. Cindy just watied for Bubba to do what he just did, then trotted over primly and jumped in Gereld's lap, and hugged as high up as she could.

Alex laughed as he exited the cave. He turned and shouted to Lily. "You mean that Eevee?" He gestured to the brown furry pokemon on the well's edge. He smiled as Tenshi and Nina exited the well together while Rhodes flew out and Horus and Cecily rested quietly in their pokeballs.

"Alls WELL that ends WELL, you know!"

"Eevee!" she rushed out of the well to her Pokemon. "You got away, I see, did you do what I told you to? How did you even find us?"

She then heard Alex make a terrible pun. Sighing heavily, she walked over to the boy and smacked the back of his head lightly. "I really hope you have day job to not quit, because your sense of humor is terribly... Lacking." She then looked back at the well she had been held prisoner in. Addressing the others, she asked, "How exactly do Pokemon Rangers come to make a base in just some random well? they always seemed more... Refined to me."

"A while ago, Rockets were held up there. The Rangers probably just put their stuff down and called it home." Sid sighed and sat on the ground facing the woodline. He shivered at the mentioning of them and that man... there was something horribly wrong with him, his breath smelled like blood and his bright eyes with that evil grin was burnt into his mind forever.

"Uh... would someone be up to coming with me to catch some Pokemon?" Sid asked.

"Well... I dont think thats really their base. I mean, it was just a place meant to hold us" Matt replied as he finaly reached the top of the well, enjoying the fresh air compared to the dank stuff down where they has spent some time in.
"Besides, we didnt see any equipment or anything down there so who knows" he said with a shrug. He took this chance to look around at his new surroundings.
In the passing years, it seems that Azalea Town had remained almost untouched by any kind of progress. There were a few new houses here and there, and a somewhat large and new one story wooden building towards the back, judging by the wooden sign hanging outside it seemed to have something to do with the Pokemon Rangers as well.

"Hmm, doesnt seem to be much going on here?" He remarked casualy, Tenshi was preoccupied with his new friend of Nina but Rojo was simply nuzzling Matts leg and hopping up and down for some more attention. While this continued Matts new and currently unnamed Slowpoke had sat down and seemed to be resting from the sheer distance that was the top of the well to the 6 feet away where it's new owner was.

"The Rockets... Oh! So that's Slowpoke Well?" she said, already knowing the answer. Lily remembered from school the Battle of Slowpoke Well, where the mighty Gold, as be was known, toppled a center of Rocket operation for the region.

She then went to Sid, excited by his desire to catch more Pokemon. "Lets go get some, I'll have Eevee help you out if your Pokemon gets tired. My Pokemon need some training before our next Gym Battle."

The two of them began to set off, leaving Lily's wondering of if her Eevee had actually helped them up in the air.

Sid crouched behind a bush with Lily at his side. He wasn't to sure about what kind of Pokemon were in the area but all he really wanted was a Pikachu. He slightly parted the branches so he could see through the other side. Some Pidgeys were pecking at the grass so he just stood up.

"So Lily... who would win in a battle." Sid said as he jumped over the bush, "Red or Gold?"

"Oh, I'm not sure..." Lily thought for a while. "From what I know about Red, he has a Pikachu, Lapras, Snorlax, Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. I don't know a lot of Pokemon, but I know that those are some really strong ones, and very balanced at that."

Another moment of pondering went by, and she continued. "But Gold... He has a Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Wobuffet, Togepi, and a Donphan, which are, again, very powerful and balanced Pokemon."

She watched her Eevee stalk up behind a solitary Pidgey, crouching low in the grass. Slowly, it approached it's prey. It was only feet away when it leapt at the Pidgey, taking it to the ground in an instant. After about 30 seconds, the Eevee popped its head up, before looking for another lone target.

Lily suddenly started talking again. "Red would win. The fact is, Red is the strongest trainer ever known. Gold beat a scattered Team Rocket, but Red toppled a long standing criminal syndicate by himself. Gold had help from Lance. Red would beat Gold, but Gold would beat Lance, who would beat Leaf," she stated, bringing the third trainer that was the bane of Team Rocket.

"That's a good question, I don't think anyone has even tried. If you become Champion, you should look into it." Sid smiled as he ler Pooch out of his pokeball, " I have dibs on Red though."

Sid took another step forward and tripped over a tree root. When he landed, dust scattered and Pooch jumped on his back. Sid shook it off quickly and looked up, he saw a yellow blur dash into a nearby bush.

Lily laughed a little at the boy's statement, while releasing her Ghastly and Geodude to go battle wild Pokemon. "No, no, I don't want to battle any of them! I just want to become Champion... That's all I need. Then no more Pokemon battling for me. I don't understand them at all."

Her three Pokemon were attacking groups of wild Pokemon. She watched contently, pleased at how her Pokemon were strong enough to handle themselves against these birds.

Eric stayed back, quietly listening in on the conversation about the warrior trainers of old.

I want my name to be remembered like that... They weren't always named Red and Gold... I wonder what their real names were....

Stalking out into the grass alone, he came upon a Pidgey.

A bird Pokemon! Never wanted a Hoothoot but Red himself was known to have raised a Pidgey. Damned useful they are.

He tossed out Jason, who looked back him perplexed.

"Go in slow and try for a Hypnosis pal. He'll be easier to capture if he's asleep."

Jason nodded obediently and started to stalk through the grass as quietly as he could. However, his body was made for water and stealth on land just didn't seem to work. The Pidgey, alerted, tackled headfirst into the Poliwag.

"Come on Jason, get that Hypnosis off!"

The bird Pokemon seemed to instinctively turn away from the sight of the pattern, circling back to try and flank the Poliwag.

A smart wild Pokemon, just what I need!

Darrel listened to Lily talk about Red and Gold. The name Red resonated with him. Ever since he was a boy he had heard stories about the famous Pokemon trainer who defeated Team Rocket and conquered the Pokemon League single-handedly. He couldn't help but smile as he thought about them.

"Man, you don't need badges to tell you who you are as a trainer. A fight against Red is all the reward I ever need." He said out loud, though to no one in particular. He looked over to the Azalea Gym, where he would face Bugsy. He nodded to it, and said to the others "I'll be over there getting my badge, okay? Uh, you two ready?" He asked, looking down at Spike, who nodded in anticipation, and Puck, who exited his Pokeball seemingly unharmed with a large grin on his face.

With a goofy grin of his own, Darrel dashed down to the gym door and stepped inside to get to his match as soon as possible.

The Pidgey got another successive hit off on Jason before finally succumbing to the sleep. The Poliwag wavered a little bit.

"Come back bud, you've done enough."

Eric pulled out one of his white Premiere Pokeballs.

"Here goes nothing!"

He threw it as hard as he could, it landing very close to the sleeping bird. The ball opened up and in a flash of red light the Pidgey was gone. The ball twitched... It violently rolled the second time but after a third tremor it was still.

"Awesome!" said Eric, walking forward and picking up the ball. "I'd better heal you up at the Pokecenter before I name you. In the meantime..."

He released Dash and went Pokemon hunting. They would be more than ready for this gym.

Gereld heard that Lily and Sid was talking about Red and Gold. Coming from Celadon, He had learned far more then he had ever needed to, and as it turns out, more then most people ever were taught, about Red and his take down of Team Rocket. Mainly, he had guessed, it was embarressment over being the City that didn't even see the threat of team Rocket when there base was under it's nose. Compared to what he knew of Red, though, he had probably only got the cliff notes on what Gold had done.

Shaking his head, Gereld turned toward Bubba and Cindy. " Looks like everyone's training, so let's not fall behind!" And with that they plunged enthusiastically into the wild, stopping now and again when a wild pokemon tried to attack them, Bubba and Cindy alternating who faught and who watched.

Sid stayed on all fours and quietly crept up to the bush that the blur swept behind, Pooch doing exactly the same. He held his breath and peered through. There was a Pikachu eating an Oran Berry and it didn't him. He jumped back and pulled Pooch closer.

"When I give you the signal, I want you to use Tackle Attack on that Pikachu. Okay?" Sid whispered.

"Pooch!"

Alex turned to his group of pokemon and smiled at them. "Alright, everyone! Pair up!" Cecily looked pointedly at Rhodes who also looked back while Nina and Horus exchanged glances. Though that probably meant nothing, Nina being blind and Horus being as dumb as a rock. He called out to them "Cecily and Rhodes are you ready? If so... Let's do this!" The two pokemon lunged at each other.

Lily watched Sid as he crept up on what she understood to be a Pikachu, Red's star Pokemon. It piqued her interest, but Sid had seen it first, so it was only fair that he got to catch it, as opposed to her. Lily didn't know a lot about Pikachu, but if Red used one from, as she had heard, the very beginning of his journey to this day, it most be extraordinarily powerful, regardless of it's innocent appearance.

Without straying too far from Sid, Lily searched the area around her for another yellow mouse, hoping to claim one for herself. Unfortunately, there was not another rodent in sight, besides some of those purple ones scattered here and there. She then took to coaching Sid on catching the one that he had spotted.

"Make sure you weaken it just enough... Not so little that it can break free, but not so much that you scare it off," she instructed, hoping to impart the little knowledge she had to him.

Noticing his Poochyena, Lily couldn't help but see just how fragile it was. It was struggling to stand up, even though it had not been wounded at all. It had practically no stomach, and some of it's lower ribs were showing. 'it must have led a hard life,' she thought, 'just like it's owner.'

Lily beckoned to her Geodude, which lackadaisically floated to her as it saw. She whispered to it, "Help that Poochyena subdue that Pikachu if it needs help. It's not strong, yet, so it might not be able to handle the fight. But don't go in until I tell you, all right?" The rock Pokemon rolled it's eyes and moaned it's name before watching the Pikachu apathetically.

Several battles later Eric walked up to Alex with Jason out, following him. The little water Pokemon looked tired but defiant.

"How goes the training?"

Know thy enemy they say. I've got to stay on top of you for that rematch.

"Oh, and can I borrow your Pokedex for a second? I caught a Pidgey and I want to know more about it."
