"Because I'm not worth the dust on your shoes..." Sid recited almost perfectly. He'd heard that one phrase more than anything else in his lifetime. The deep scars left by both physical and mental abuse by almost everyone in Violet City had left deep scars both visible and invisible. He looked away from Eric and to Pooch.
"If you're going to do it, don't waste your time trying to lower my guard. Just do it." Sid said through clenched teeth. He closed his eyes and braced for a rock to connect with his head at any time. The entire time he was fighting back tears that his past had even managed to find him even when he left everything that could possibly harm him any further.

"Shit, I remember it now. You came into the Pokemart once and my Dad decided to let you sleep there for one night. He was bandaging you up and wouldn't let me talk to you or anyone else about it."

Sid grabbed Pooch and ran, he didn't exactly know where but his legs carried him to some random ass building and he sat there. He didn't cry, he showed no emotion whatsoever. He just sat.

Eric walked into the outskirts of the town and sat on a bench.
"Stupid... Shouldn't have said anything." Suddenly he was aware of Dash missing. "Shit!"
He got up and ran back to the grassy field.

Dash followed Sid from a short distance away, unsure what was propelling him towards this kid. He had come to his master Eric during a time of distress so maybe it was in his nature to try and help humans. Whatever the case, he just hoped that Eric wouldn't get too angry at him.

Rhodes flitted about with a happy grin. "Batabat!" Alex had left so it was free reign for him. He happily flitted about looking for someone to chitter at. He quickly found someone in the vague shape of a friendly person and latched onto his neck, gently landing on the back of Eric's neck and crawling up on top of his head.
Distracted by his search for Dash, Eric jumped with shock when Rhodes nested in his blue hair.
"You're Alex's Zubat, aren't you?" There was a chitter which Eric interpreted as an affirmative noise.
"Could you help me find Dash?"
The Zubat took to the sky above him.

Sid sniffled and fought back the tears. He shook his head in frustration at the fact that someone who had seen him before was traveling with him. He wanted to distance himself from Eric as soon as possible and the only way to do that would be Lily to get to Ecruteak City. He finally looked up from Pooch and into the forest to see a pair of dog-like eyes fixed on him.
Dash crawled forward slowly, looking at the boy and whimpering. There was so much pain in his face... Dash didn't know what he could do except to try and befriend him. He moved closer and closer and he didn't move. He ended up stopping, lying on the ground staring at him. Come on you kid, let me help you!

Eric was following Rhodes who was gleefully changing direction every thirty seconds.
"You'd better be really leading me to Dash!"
The Zubat snickered to itself, flying a little faster. He would get Eric nice and lost before looking for Alex. He chittered loudly, encouraging the slow human to try to keep up.

"Uh... hey?" Sid acknowledged Dash's presence, "Aren't you Eric's pokemon?"
It was just his luck, he would catch the interest of another pokemon. He motioned for the pokemon to come and sit next to him. He reluctantly did and sat next to him, his tail wagging. Sid smiled and patted him on the head.
"You know, I'm sure Eric's worried about you." Sid sighed.

Rhodes chittered agreeable as he flew up into the air, doing various incredibly complicated aerial manuevers to confuse him and get him dizzy, and then began to fly around chittering at various pokemon, trying to locate Dash, when he ran head first into Dash, Falling to the ground dazed. Realizing he'd found him Rhodes climbed up on Dash's back and using sonar to check his surroundings. He noticed Sid near him so he glided down and landed softly on his shoulder and chittered politely at him. "Batabatabatabat!"
Dash wagged his tail and snuggled close into Sid's knee. The appearance of Rhodes knocking into him startled him but as it wasn't an attack, he resumed relaxing next to Sid.

"That wacky bat has really made me lose my bearings dammit!"
I can't even figure out where the town is anymore....
Just then there was a rustling in the bushes. A wild Pidgey leaped out, angry that someone had shouted near its nest.
"Dammit." said Eric, pulling out Jason for another encounter.

It was now two of his comrade's pokemon that had begun relaxing next to him, Lily was not going to be happy if he started befriending their traveling buddy's pokemon.
"You guys aren't making it too easy to stay unattached to the group y'know." Sid grumbled and closed his eyes.

Eric sighed with exasperation. "Well, I guess I have to get to the Pokemon Center and heal you guys up before resuming the search."
The feeling of anger had passed to one of concern as he walked around, trying to figure out where he was.
"Okay, this is bullshit. I have a Pidgey now!"
He let Jenna out. She too was tired but she took the sky.
"Which way is the town?" The small bird flew North... Or what he guessed was north.
That's it, I'm getting a compass next chance I get.
He started walking after calling back his two tired Pokemon.
"I suppose Alex will want his Pokedex back too... Man, I want one of these things!"
He headed off, jogging towards the town.

Pokemon Centers are non-profit and depend on the community to uphold them, which meant free room & board and food for Pokemon Trainers. Since Sid had Pokemon, and they were injured on top of that, they wouldn't be able to turn him away.

Alex stepped out of the pokemon center stretching Cecily and Nina by his side. "Man, Horus can be such a pain." Nina didn't react to the comment, but Cecily shrugged apathetically as if to say "We can't all be the best at everything." She then turned and gave him a grin.
Eric saw Alex coming out of the center and skidded to a halt on the road.
"Hey Alex, have you seen Dash around anywhere? He's kind of missing."
He pulled out the Pokedex.
"Oh and here, I need to get me one of those. I was about to heal up and resume searching."

Alex paused for a second "I don't believe so." Alex looked around. Nina was tapping her antenna irritatedly on the ground, as if waiting for something.
Alex received the pokedex back and gave Eric a grin. "Thanks. Was it useful? What does your pigey know?" He asked mildly.
