"Well, if you want to come with me I was going to stroll through the forest. I just need to clear my head."

Eric tried to keep a straight face talking to the kid but still had to wipe a tear from the corner of his eye when he thought he wasn't looking.

Where's Chell anyway?

"Pooch is a survivor..." Sid kicked a small rock and looked towards the nurses helping the Pokemon, "He wouldn't have died even if I didn't find him."

"Yeah, I knew he was a tough one the moment I laid eyes on him."

Gereld raised an eyebrow and said "You'll probably be waiting for a very long time to fight Bugsy, as he's probably helping fix the town. Anyway, my story. Hmmm...Well I guess it all started when, for one reason or another, I ran away from home. It was exhilerating, but I made the costly mistake of not planning how I was going to live after that. I just sort of wandered from town to town, eating what food I could find. Eventually, I heard that Professer Elm was giving away free pokemon in New Bark town. It was probably my best bet for getting lots of money fast, so I took it. As things went on though, from my first catch to beating Falkner,to being kidnapped for stupid reasons, and just the feel of this whole journey , I started to really like this stuff."

Gereld took a pause for a moment to collect more of his thoughts before continuing." And I'm rather sad at the moment due to... a traitor among our little group. No reason either, she just up and decide to join Rocket. That and the survivors of the attack. Most of them are injured badly and it...saddens me." finished Gereld. And whose fault is that, idiotthought Gereld to himself, turning away for a momenet, before turning back to Bob and asking "how 'bout you? You're journey been anything interesting?"

"Let's go." Sid mumbled and started walking then passed a quick glance at the nurse helping Pooch.

Eric nodded and tossed out Dash.

They walked silently into the forest, ignoring the bug Pokemon skittering around. Dash barked giddily but the silence was deafening.

"Have you ever... been forced to do something you swore you never even think of doing?" blurted Eric into the serenity of the woods.

What are you doing?!

"Er... Nevermind..."

'well my dad trained a gengar, properly the strongest gengar there is, it inspired me to train ghost pokemon, though I knew I had to concentrate on one pokemon in order to make its true potential shine through and that pokemon is duskull' Bob said while pointing at duskull which looked directly into Gereld's eyes, 'though I train other pokemon like Mr.Clause and cubone I have trained many pokemon because in order to make duskull the best dusknoir ever I have to know all of my foes, I don't suppose you want to fight my duskull after your pokemon are better?'

Lily looked at Darrel with a pained expression as she moved over by Gerald and the new boy he was talking to. "But how am I supposed to help him? I don't even understand what has him so upset... Its just a Pokemon, and a common one at that. He can always catch another, can't he?" she sighed out, before noticing that the three were giving her very pointed looks. "What?" she asked, confused.

'when you just said he can catch another one I wanted to slap you so hard that you could feel it till the day you die, pokemon can't just be replaced they form a strong emotional attachment to a trainer for a reason, they have gone through things together, I don't know wgat I would do without duskull hear, properly cry so hard I would make kyogre look dry' Bob was blown into a full on rage by this stupid comment 'I mean duskull has been with me for the majority of my life no duskull is like it, there are no duskulls better then it you wanna know why? because its my duskull and the same is true for any other trainer, no trainer has a better poochyena then that kid because its his poochyena' Bob place the palm of his hand on his head and continued to ramble under his breath.

"Woah." Lily blurted out. "Let's calm down for a second. First of all, I don't even know you, and you don't even know Sid, so please stop acting like you can speak on his behalf. Second, I don't even know what half those things you said are. What's a Keogrrrr? And a Duckskill? And anyway, I was just trying to talk to Darrel. I just don't get what's got you so clingy with your Pokemon. I'm catching Pokemon so I can win, and KEEP winning until I'm the champion. That means that there will be points where I'll have to stop using the Pokemon I have now if I come across stronger ones. So what's the point of getting attached?"

Lily turned away solemnly as she walked over to Darrel and spoke softly to him. "Don't think for a moment that I don't want to help Sid. I really care for him, far more than you understand. This is just a place I can't help him on." she looked him in the eyes, hoping to see that he understood her.

Bob punched the wall 'you' he pointed at Gereld 'lets postpone our battle' 'YOU!' he pointed at Lily 'I challenge you to a pokemon fight, also kyogre is the legendary pokemon of the ocean and duskull is my friend who is sitting on my shoulder!' Bob was filled with rage and so was duskull they weren't going to let comments like that slide, pokemon aren't possessions to achieve a goal they are friends - that you kidnap yes, but friends never the less - friends that work with you to achieve goals.

Sid stepped over a rock and stumbled forward. It was nice that he was getting away from all the chaos and confusion to the nice quiet forrest. Both he and Eric said few words and if he listened close, he could hear the river.

"What did you mean earlier?"

Lily was utterly baffled by the new, hot-headed young man. He was acting quite unlike any of the others she had been traveling with, and was already starting to bother her more than Chell. Her Pokemon, however, could use some extra training, so she figured that she might as well battle him... Once she got her Pokemon back.

"Um... Alright? You're on, I guess," Lily said, shrugging. "As soon as a nurse gets back and gives me my Pokemon."

They came upon a humble creek, rippling peacefully against some rocks... Or were they sleeping Geodude?

"Just... a mistake Sid. One I hope you never make."

Dash jumped into the water and seemed to enjoy washing the grime of the battle out of his fur.

Not exactly a raging river but...

He reached into his pocket and could feel the cold metal.

"I... I ki-"

There was a Pokemon cry like he never heard before that pierced the air. It sounded like a wolf but was... different. Dash immediately jumped out of the creek and stood beside Eric and Sid protectively.

"What was that?" Sid mumbled and kept a hand on Alexander's pokeball. Dash jumped in front of him protectively and he shot a glance toward Eric.

There was a noise the bushes and a yellow dog-like Pokemon emerged. It didn't advance any further and it was followed by...

"Dad?!" said Eric with surprise. His father looked worse for wear but he was wearing different clothing. No longer wearing an apron with the Pokemart logo on it, he was wearing some sort of pilots jacket.

"Eric. I'm glad I found you. Team Rocket has got everyone worked up back home and I couldn't stay home while they were running rampant."

"What happened?"

"Arson." said his father, turning to his Manectric. "Come back Zed."

The Pokemon vanished and he looked at Eric intensely.

"We're leaving Johto."

Eric was thunderstruck.

"W-what!" Sid blurted and looked to Eric then to his father, "He can't leave.."

Was this really the same man who had save his life once before? He seemed tired, worn out and he tried his best to hide the fear. Sid didn't wait for an answer, and immediately ran to Eric's side.

"The story, your friends... Dad, you're a better trainer than Falkner! How could you be af-"

"The Rockets damaged the Pokemon Center and burnt down our store. Falkner's missing. Sprout tower... We heard screaming. The city might be abandoned by now, everyone was headed to Ecruteak for Morty's protection."

The fear on his face was hard to conceal. He was unshaven, dirty... It was astounding. Eric's image of his father was shattered. He had always been so in control...

"I can't leave my friends Dad... I'm not afraid of the Rockets."

Eric's dad paced along the creek, ignoring Eric.

"I have two tickets for the SS Jublife, we'll go to Hoenn. I have friends there an-"

"I'm not going Dad!" shouted Eric.

There was a silence.

"What?"

"I've started the gym leader challenge and I'm going through with it."

"Oh, just like you were going to be a-"

"Don't bring that up again... Please Dad..."

God, this day just goes from one disaster to another.

Gereld raised an eyebrow, amused by how, once again, Lily found someone who annoyed her to no end. Turning back to Bob, Greld said " Well, you're going to have to wait to battle her, but...I do have one last pokemon you can battle if you want. He's rather new though, never even been in much of an actual battle before."

"You really think that you'll be safe in Hoenn!" Sid shouted, "You remember when those trainers from there came to Violet City! They said there was two gangs there... not just one!"
