Even Crytek, the development company behind one of the best looking games for pc, seem to be going the "Console first, fuck pc" route if what I experienced in the Crysis 2 demo really carries over to the main release.
I think the fact that the community they trusted pirated there game to oblivion, gives them the right to do such. I see no problem with it. This accusation is pretty false anyway but I thought I'd point it out nonetheless.
"Community they trusted" Sounds funny to me. The console community should be treated the same if that were the case, between people modding xbox's, Wii's and Flash cards on DS's to pirate games and that whole fiasco with the Sony root key. These days with steam, it's very likely that console games see more pirating than pc.
I also did say SEEM to be going, I'm holding final judgment till I can play the full game.
I doubt console numbers will ever come anywhere near PC, just because of the fact of how easy it is. No modding/whatever necesarry. You just download a file and go.

didn't Valve specifically say they prefer not to develop for consoles, or something along the lines of "Fine, we'll port some games if it make console fans shut up don't expect any updates or support from us, though."

Oh, dude, you made me crack a smile. That's pretty damn impressive :p
Allow me to hopefully add to the smiles.

OT: I understand Valve's standpoint on not releasing extra content for consoles, and I think if it's that big a deal to people, maybe they should look into upgrading their PC to handle whatever games they're hoping to play, and get the DLC for free.

And yet surprisingly, i have not seen anyone do this towards Sonic Team (Not sega..just Sonic Team). Ironic cause...they're the worst offender of the whole freaking industry. Don't believe me? Play any Sonic game they've placed they're grubby hands on post Sonic Adventure 2.

I personally see the A column and B column to this-- but I'm fine with my 360/lack of updates*.

*Disclaimer: Fine meaning whining every night when it's my turn to pick the map for L4D2 for round 6, and somewhat being tired of all of them and having my friends blab about the latest new content that MIGHT come out in the next 7-10 months, getting excited and will then be delayed 5 times and then we fight over with of the maps we're playing some more....and...and...yes.

....

I would like MOAR, but I can deal with ....UNMOAR.
For now.

(curse my pre-intel Powerbook.)

My point was that if the issue was due to "Broken trust" due to pirating, then console players should be getting the shaft too. It's a lame excuse to blame one group of pirating when it's rampant across all platforms. To say group A pirates less than group B, therefore we like B better, is stupid. Bottom line, they're pirating your game.

What I find hilarious is that Valve released Half-Life 2 for the ORIGINAL Xbox, then later released it for the Xbox 360 with the Orange Box.

So I thought, "Hey, I think I'll try out the 360 version of HL2, after all, the performance should be better on a much more powerful system."

Now granted, HL2 does look better on 360, but not only does it not remove the mid-level loading breaks present in the Xbox version, the Xbox version loads much faster and only occasionally has drops in framerate. In contrast, the 360 version loads like a slug, crashed on me at least once in my very brief playtime and glitched a ladder so my Freeman couldn't climb it for some reason.

So the SAME game, on an inferior system, performs better. Yay for Valve's 360 console porters!

Hold your venom, wow you say that so much, and Pc elitist? Ok Xbox elitist...

Just so you know, all the way back to the NES/SNES days pc games always had mods, custom maps, settings, it's easier to do and almost impossible to stop.

Sorry chuckles, as much as you like to say PC elitist, your the one who is the Xbox submissive.

Microsoft and Sony love consoles because.... drum roll...

You don't deserve the same as a pc accord to Sony and Microsoft. You deserve what they give you, and you chose their control of a console. And according to the console terms of agreements you can't modify anything, download anything modified ect, and will ONLY buy DLC they deem fit for YOU.

So enough the pc elite WHINE. You want customization, get a pc. Because they are not controllable like a console. If anything for THAT reason, and once again that is deemed by the console makers not by your VENOM of the guys and gals who have computers.

If you want the buffet, go to the buffet, don't go to a Soup or Salad and demand T-bone steaks and when those in control of the restaurant laugh at you, then say the Buffet elite are stopping you from being served when your pretty much in the wrong place to begin with...

Console, easy to control by the corps. Who then sell you dime to make dlc for 20 bucks...
PC, well, lot harder to sell that same DLC when fans make the better stuff for free.

A console player is complaining because THEY feel shafted?

PC Players routinely get the crappy port, so because you have ONE company who does PC first you feel like you're being ripped off?
Could not have said it better. Ports are generally shit, and console gamers generally have the original now n days. You cant deal with one bad port? (orange box) just deal with it like pc gamers have been for years now.

anyway getting back on topic.
The only games that suffer from porting are games where they could work with either a controller or mouse and keyboard with both working effectively. An example of games that do offer a distinct difference in input are RTS and platforming games. The former being obviously better suited to a pc and the later for a consoles. A genre with much overlap however are first person shooters. Both offer strengths and weaknesses and really come down to preference of input. Until we find a middle ground ports will be a reality that we as gamers must learn to deal with.

It boggles my mind that you feel cheated when you got TF2 for $20 ($2.50 if you bought on Halloween) because you didn't get free upgrades. Most companies would charge $60 for a game like TF2.
I payed sixty for mine.
Should have bought the Orange Box. It was $50/60 and you got Portal ($20 value), TF2 ($20 value), and HL 2 ($50 value).
It was that expensive on the consoles? I got the Orange Box for my PC, including HL2 for a grand total of $20. Though that may be because Steam is the best thing to happen to PC gaming since the GPU.

Way I see it, you have beef with your console of choice, not the producer of games that you play. If you can't download maps, get proper updates or use custom stuff, it's all thanks to your choice of machine to play on. Sort of odd to blame it on VALVe. What should they do, strong-arm microsoft into not being dicks about their console?

VALVe continue to make awesome games, and although the item-mania in TF2 is way out of hand and has been for a while now (I honestly expected this thread to be about that), and although they never release on time, they still produce solid titles with hours upon hours of entertainment.

Seems kind of silly to ask them to stop making games altogether because they can't circumvent microsoft's rules. My advice is, get a proper PC, wait for the summer sale and buy all the good titles on Steam. If you're just asking them to stop making games for consoles (or, porting them rather), I couldn't support that more! God knows that only two producers are actually caring for the PC more than the console these days.

Personally I consider TF2 better on the 360 now without all that unneeded bullshit...

But yeah... whats the problem? Valve is releasing ports of games that are worse then the original PC version... oh no...

So it is true, people will whine about everything.
Seriously, Valve has produced games that are great and you demand more? Just be glad they have done what they have.

Yes it most certainly does have to do with numbers. It isn't wrong to like (And I am pulling these numbers out of my ass) a group that only steals 200,000 copies, then a group that steals 1,000,000. Why? Because the earlier has given you more money (This is assuming they would sell the same amount across consoles and PC, and that each download is a lost sale.)

Crytek wanting to go a more console route is perfectly fine because consoles are where they can do well (Financially speaking.), and not have more people playing a stolen copy then a store bought one, and I hold no ill will towards them for that.

Asking them to split there focus up to different systems is literally asking them to reduce the quality, the amout of work that goes into there games. (they only have so much time/money)

L2PC OP. Then you will get the quality you "deserve."

I don't see why a robber would be interested in his soul, or even know what it is.

I always assumed it was gold, given how it shined just like your run-of-the-mill Aztec golden idol does in Indiana Jones or what have you.

Either way, Tarantino never specified what was in there, and a co-writer of Pulp, Roger Avery, has stated that originally there were no orange-ish glow, and that he in fact regretted the idea of installing a lightbulb in the case, because it gave the whole thing a "supernatural" feeling, which apparently wasn't his intention.

Bottom line, we're kinda supposed to imagine it for ourselves. No prop master can beat the human imagination.
yes I KNOW that, its jsut a fun theory anyway I like the idea that its his soul (however originaly its diamonds, from resovour dogs)

My point wasnt about the film or the theory itself but weather or not the logo is a reference to pulp fiction, soul theory or not
The band-aid is no longer a trademarked name, they lost it when the term 'band-aid was used so often, it referred to any form of 'adhesive bandage.' Google is actually fighting the use of the term 'Google' as a verb to avoid this exact problem.
