Those things aren't mutually exclusive! You can like all those things, at the same time. Weird how that works, eh? Not that I do. ESPN and watching sports on a fuckin' screen can go fuck themselves.

But anyway, I try to argue or reason with such people. There's simply no point.

"You can't play video games and have sex? Shit, I better tell my fiancée to stop asking for it."

Said that a little while ago.

Worked.
Do this, fucking brilliant!

I know it's a bit off topic, but there are also a lot of debates between gamers concerning the genres, like how Nerds who play RPGs (like JRPGs and Western RPGS, not Mass Effect and Bioshock) are still looked down on as "unmanly". Does this piss off anyone else?

I'll enjoy a good, repeat "Good" FPS from time to time too, but mindlessly going around killing the "Terrorists" -cough- Russians -cough- Middle Eastern's -cough-
just seems like another form of, "Neanderthal-esque" behaviour, blindly charging into the fray blaring your shotguns (yes shotguns!) because it seems like the "Manly" thing to do.

It's not like RPGs don't give yourself a chance to prove yourself as a man either, you just sometimes do it with a sword instead of a gun, and there's a legitimate storyline, sure you still have to charge at an enemy waving your sword like an idiot, but because there are actually other ways to play the game, rather than hiding behind a wall waiting your your health to come back again, rather unnaturally fast, before you pop out and try and shoot an enemy who just finished doing the exact same thing!

I might be ranting just a tad, and I might be a being a little unfair, as much as I try to be unbiased, but does anyone else agree?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about Halo and some moron who plays rugby in our school walked past and said "Hah, video games, what a gay". I turned and went on a rant about how rugby isn't really that heterosexual in itself as, let's face it, just look at a scrum.

Seriously. They're morons who can't think with brains.

So, Besides ignoring them (or turning the radio off), What is a good response to people who think that everthing you like is not "Manly"?

How would you respond to these "manly" people?
"Dude, are you overcompensating for being gay? We all know, man. Its ok, you can come out of the closet now. We're all friends here, this is a safe place."

Look at my avatar. That is me. My hobbies include: Video games, Tabletop Rpg's, anime, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, powerlifting, MMA training, and getting together a couple of times a year with a bunch of other people to beat the hell out of each other with practice weapons. so if I heard someone say that, I would just stare at them like they are retarded. which they would be, in that case.

Don't let it bother you. Sure, you could attempt to prove him incorrect, but that would require effort and time. I don't know about you, but I have better things to spend my energy on doing. Like playing videogames.
this is off topic as hell but u have the best gif ever... junior senior all the way!

ot: idk... i feel that men should have a certain bravado about them and i like sum of the morals of manliness like u know take care of those who cant take care of themselves at the time and that every guy (and girl) should know how to fight or protect themselves....
all the rest is bs though, chuck liddell paints his toe nails... end of story

So there's this guy on some radio show I listen to who, whenever anything that involves video games(or animation, comics, sci-fi, fantasy, or whatever remotely related), is mentioned, he always answers with...

"I don't watch/play/read that stuff... I like girls... I like sports... I like ESPN..."

Basically, everything else not sports related or involves real women to this guy is not manly... its all kids stuff...

People in my daily life are starting to say similar lines and its starting to piss me off...

So, Besides ignoring them (or turning the radio off), What is a good response to people who think that everthing you like is not "Manly"?

How would you respond to these "manly" people?
well here are some responses
1. 'have I travelled in time because I didn't know you were a cave man'
2. learn every line from the youtube video power thirst and just say that.
3. flex your muscles and go ' MANLY'
4. punch them in the gut and say' I AM A MAN'
I will let you know when I think of more.

Hasn't happened to me specifically, but I can only imagine that it happens a lot. Personally, I'd just bring the person's attention to the fact that almost every 'manly' sport is almost entirely low-grade gay theatre. Muscle-bound dudes gettin' all sweaty and mashing together in their tiny shorts? Aww Yeah.

I solve those problems with universilising the consept. Thus when they badmouth it they will also badmouth all other things that go under the consept of medium with entertainment value. Something they then start to deny and them I tell them them to stop being so F%¤¤ inconsitent and walk away.

There is one guy, actually doing some work for a magazine, who would say fantasy novels are clichéd and childish, but who is playing World of Warcraft... I think that says all about how much sense it makes to argue.

The manliest men that Man around the nearby Man Compound, near me in my manliest all play things like 40k, video games, collect comic books.... and no, I swear I'm not making this up.

One of the dudes is 6'3 and is a part time bouncer. He's a savage (great) painter when it comes to Warhammer Fantasy models, and is a great guy to boot.

I wouldn't pay any notice to dick spotters like that.

He's clearly an ignorant jock, and therefore sub-human :p

Seriously, a real man respects others.
I'd respect his wishes should he want to take a long walk off a short pier.

Whats the point of responding? Life is to short to waste time on idiots. Find better people to hang with.
Yup.

The only time I'll accept "No thanks on X, I'd rather have women." is when discussing Axe Body Spray.

As it stands though I don't see how sports helps you acquire women. Most sports fanatics I know are very much single.

Most gaming fanatics I know are not.

Probably because most of the latter are nerds and they tend to hit women less.

(Note: Not saying all sports lovers are women beaters, just the ones I know.)

So by his logic, it's manly to be retarded. By his logic, anything that requires a second of thought is too hard for him to comprehend. It's a wonder he can differentiate a man -from- a woman. That is, assuming that he can.

"Manly" in my book is synonymous with stuck-up brainless ignorants that uses their "parts" rather than their mind in order to decide what best to do. In other words, people who talk like that might want to check up on what else that term implies about themselves. ;P
You mean like those guys that jumped off a 70 foot cliff into a shallow, rocky river? The second one even watched the first get horribly injured before jumping and yet still did it anyway.

Ot: Remind them that's there's a difference between manly and having the most basic intelligence.

Just respond with "And yet, the world goes on" and continue what you were doing before. Because these guys aren't worth it. And if they continue to bother you, they'll know that they're just making fun of a brick wall.
