Seras was quiet as she thought about what Cap had to say. "Hmm...I suppose you're right. I've always just thought about it from a practical standpoint. 'Better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it' as they say, but I understand what you mean." She again stopped and thought for a moment. "Where did you get that, if you don't mind me asking?" Seras asked, gesturing to Steve's shield.

This version of the shield was made for me by Howard Stark, one of the technicians who worked on the Manhattan project. His son, Tony Stark is the current head of Stark Industries, and is also one of the Avengers. Goes by the name of Iron Man. I don't suppose any of those names ring a bell?"

Seras tapped her chin as she processed all those names. Iron Man rang some sort of bell, but then she realized that was because of a Black Sabbath song, and probably wasn't related to what Steve was talking about. "Not really, sorry." she said with a shrug. After that she moved to find a seat, and tried to offer one to Steve as well.

Steve took the seat that Seras offered and sat, watching her face. Something gave him the impression that there had been something else on her mind besides guns, and he wondered if she had forgotten, or was wary of speaking of it.

"...So, it must have been hard going from the the forties to the present times, with all the technology changes. Is there anything you prefer from the...old days?" Seras asked next, wanting to try and get some small talk going.

Kenna turned on the newly produced demo knights, leaping at the ones going after the medic with claws slashing, to protect the good doctor and avoid the ones attacking her. Samus advanced forward, heading towards the demo knight carrier, firing an ocasional plasma shot when she could get a clean shot on the robots or internal workings.

"Well... in terms of technology, you have a lot going for you these days. It's all ridiculously complicated, but once you get your head around it, it's incredibly useful. Take an iPhone for example. I couldn't even have imagined something like that back in the day. Stark, maybe, but it was way beyond most people. They have so many applications, I still struggle with the ones that I know of. And there are probably a whole load of things they can do that I don't even know about, but once you get the hang of it, they're amazing. Even the ability to immediately call someone anywhere in the world with a device smaller than your wallet. During the war, that would require a whole room full of telegraph equipment. Even the phones that some people had by then were fixed devices and were very large and clunky. The change there alone is amazing. And I'm still wary of driving a modern car, with the speed they can manage. I'm ok with a bike, since they have the same degree of maneuverability as before, and models like my one are nice and low, easy to control. On the whole though, I'm glad to have the chance to see all these new things." He thought for a while, and the easy smile that he'd had during the conversation weakened.
"As for the world itself, well, it's become a lot more crowded. Every individual person's reach has become wider than ever before, and yet, most of our interests have narrowed. People are somehow much more insular these days. You don't often get the kind of selflessness that I saw from people in the war."

Seras listened to Steve talk and found it rather surprising how eloquent and even philosophical he was. She quickly realized that she couldn't really relate to him, considering she had never been thrown into a world that was so different, like what Cap had experienced. Seras quickly became embarrassed when she realized she didn't have anything to add to what Steve had said, to the point where she started blushing, fearing she was making herself seem stupid. As such she could only smile and brush at her hair awkwardly. She then realized that the silence between them was growing longer and it was because she couldn't think of what to say. In a mild panic, Seras said the first thing that came to mind. "Uhm, right...cellphones are pretty amazing..." As soon as she said this, she had to resist the urge to facepalm, her fear of coming off as dull or thick (or both) only growing worse.

Kenna knocked a pair of Demoknight-bots away from the Medic, knocking them into the walls and doing damage to both of them, and a little bit more to the carrier. However, another Demoknight-bot charged at Kenna from behind, first striking her with its Chargin' Targe, and then following up with a swing of its Eyelander.

Samus missed this Demoknight-bot, the sudden burst of speed allowing it to dodge, but the blast did some damage to the carrier. A second Demoknight-bot charged at the Medic, only to have its head blasted off by another plasma shot from Samus.

Joel reloaded and continued moving through the Huntsman-bots, punching and firing as he went, taking out a couple of the robots without being hit. "Steve, help me bust up that thing!" Joel yelled, as he charged towards the carrier that was producing Huntsman-bots.

Zhanna began firing on the Heavy-bots, weakening all three but destroying none.

Alain was still on the ground, waiting for his runes to recharge, since I don't know how long they take to charge. He probably felt rather silly for using his super-heavy hammer.

The Demoknight-bots that weren't fighting with Kenna exited the carrier. These five split up, charging at Samus, Seras, Faro, Cap and Joanna.

The remaining Huntsman-bots shot at Cap and Joel.

"Uh... yeah." Steve replied, now scrutinising Seras carefully again. She had that awkward look again, like she was scrabbling for anything profound she could think to say, anything that would sound impressive or thought-provoking. He recognised that look, he'd seen it on the faces of young soldiers, S.H.I.E.L.D agents and such ever since he'd been unfrozen. Before that, he knew he'd used himself. He chuckled suddenly, breaking the silence.
"You don't have to keep doing that, you know."

Back in the moment:

Captain America dived through the air, snatching his shield and rolling into a stalking crouch. Whirling around to acknowledge Joel, he nodded and began to charge through the Huntsmen. Smashing foes aside with his shield, shouldering them out of the way, kicking them across the battlefield and leaping gracefully over their heads, he fought a running battle towards the carrier. While the force that he applied to each blow was more than a normal human was capable of, he focused more on fighting evasively and covering the distance than on efficient destruction.

Still in the carrier, side by side with Kenna, Joanna intercepted the demoknights that were attacking her and Kenna. She sought to deflect the blows of the knight that attacked Kenna from behind, but apart from this, she had to focus most of her efforts of fending off the flurry of attacks from her own assailant. As it attacked her, she parried its strikes with a series of deft flicks of her own swords, followed up with a sidestep to avoid a vicious overhead chop from its claymore. As the heavy blade struck the ground, she thrust her straightsword into the back of one of its knee joints with an elegant curving jab, then dragged her scimitar upwards beneath it's jawline, seeking to part its head from its neck

"D-doing what?" Seras said, snapping back to paying full attention to Steve.

Now Times:

Seras tried to run to avoid the knight bots while unloading her launcher into the heavy carrier, wanting to at least continue to lessen it's effectiveness if she didn't manage to destroy it. Her super speed would likely be enough to keep any bots away from her.

Faro sprinted and serpentined while he was shot at by the heavies and chased by the knight bots. He ran in such a was to try and get the knight bots behind him in the heavy bot's line of fire.

"Scrabbling for some deeply intellectual response, like you're doing just now." Steve replied, smiling encouragingly. "I'm not expecting you to have an emotional and convicted account of your own when it comes to the changing of the times, how could you? And you don't have to try and impress me either, if that's what you're thinking. I'm not about to decide that you're not interesting enough to talk to!" He winked, a gesture to show the joke in what he was saying. "What do you usually find yourself talking about when you want to pass the time? Let's pretend that we're not vampires or super soldiers, just two normal people on a commute. I find that always takes the pressure off."

OOC: Added Joanna's action to the last post.

"Oh, right. Of course." Seras said, finding herself giggling at her own foolishness. "Hmm, well...I don't, I mean, I never really talked with people outside of work." she said, realizing she was running into the same problem as before. "Maybe we could just talk about where we're from?" she asked.

Steve nodded in agreement.
"What is there to do in your downtime in London?" He asked. "I've had so much to do lately, that I mostly spend my time off alone, exercising and catching up. I'm kind of hoping that that won't always be the way of it."

You click the radio and say that you've found a corpse, muttering that it is an ugly one, too. You add that it is humanoid, and was wearing a suit. Considering that, you suspect it to be one of the attackers. You grab the gun and strap it to your suit then move on, jumping slowly to the closest door and activating your mag-boots. You draw your blaster and open the door, intending to fully clear the ship.

OOC: And that awkward moment where I need to make up stuff about a character that isn't my own creation...Might as well go off of my own perception...

After a quick scan of her memories, Seras realized she had led a painfully boring, almost depressing life before she had become a vampire. "I...spent most of my time at home...alone...Sometimes I would go out with some of the other guys from the precinct. N-not on a date or anything. We'd just go to a pub after work." she said. She hoped Steve wouldn't attempt to pry further, since that was literally the extent of her private life.

OOC: That's as good a way to go about it as any, if you don't have real details to go on.

"Well, there's a lot to like in doing that. I've always enjoyed a good night at a bar, although I think my experiences there have changed over time. I think I was always treated like the kid among adults by some people before the war, at least by people who didn't know me well. Probably didn't help that I wasn't much bigger than one. And then I became some kind of celebrity afterwards. It was weird." Steve laughed. "And yeah, dating was never a big part of my life either. I've arranged to go on one date in 94 years. And I missed it!"

"Well, it was understandable enough when I was young. I was a shrimp even when I was fully grown, and girls back then were all about brawn and chiseled features. People like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates didn't have as much of a hold on culture like they do now. And I have had offers lately, I just... well, never got around to following up on any of them really. Until now, it felt like I was just on the go all the time. I've known a couple of women who lead the same life and who I see often, but they... well, they just don't seem like the right kind of person to get involved with."

"I guess that makes sense, but that's still silly to me. I mean, if you acted anything like you do now, I think you'd be great to date." Seras said, then coughed awkwardly as she thought she might have gone too far.
