Alek took off his coat and put his watch in the tray, as instructed. He walked through the metal detector. "Uh, sir." The guard said, addressing Alek. "Can I see you for a moment?" Alek walked over to the man. "There seems to be a problem. What is that?" He pointed to Alek's gun on the screen. Well, that was unexpected. Alek was pressed to think of an excuse. "I knew I was forgetting something!" He exclaimed, hoping that the guard bought it. That was moronic, he thought. He fished around in his coat pocket for a moment before he handed the guard his gun. "Please look after that." He said. The guard nodded, "One more thing sir." He said just before Alek turned away. On the screen he pointed to Alek's knife. "And that?" "My letter-opener." Alek replied fairly naturally. The guard gave him an odd look, but shrugged. He had handed over his gun, what harm was there in leaving him with a letter-opener? Alek turned and walked off. It wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing.
